The Amazing Spider-Man This time should the Green Goblin physically transform or suit up in costume?

Costume or physical transformation?

The visual problem with GG is that it's not to make him look like a fool in live action. It's too bad to because he's such a great villan! I'd say a combination of a phyiscal with a suit .

As much as people complain about SM1's GG costume, do we really want to see a middle aged man in tight green and purple spandex with a purse?

It's not a purse, it's a bag; - 'Bag of Tricks'.

And did they use red and blue spandex for Spidey's costume? Nope.
But they still managed to have something skintight and 90% comic faithful.

The Power Ranger Goblin costume was an abomination.

As for a future onscreen Goblin mask, I say make it latex, green, and all grimey and dirt smeared.

Well, plus there's an entire other reason why he should have a costume instead of a transformation.

Peter Parker is a smart kid, a plot revolving around the Goblin would be interesting if indeed the Goblin hid the fact that his weapons are technology based. His enhanced strength Much of his weapons are made to be similar to something out of witchcraft or superstition.

Razor-bats (A Bat that attacks)
Pumpkin Bombs (An exploding jack-o-lantern)
Laser-Gloves (Essential a blinding spell)
He even rides a giant Bat. (originally it even looked like a broom)

This makes for an interesting plot where Peter must come face to face with an enemy which seems almost other-worldy and he slowly figures out it's technology, and who's tech it is.

And on the other-side, you have Norman who is face to face with an enemy he deems as 'the real deal.' What he has achieved through careful study of technology and physiology, Spider-Man was simply 'gifted' with.

First off, I don't want a transformation, I want Norman to just use a costume. However, if they had to make him transform, I'd rather them do it like this. Have Norman transform into a regular sized goblin, essentially looking exactly the same as 616 Green Goblin but its his skin. While he still has super strength, speed, agility, etc... he still has to have a costume/suit, weapons and tech. I'd be fine with that and if you guys remember that one Amazing Friends episode, Norman didn't use a costume, but rather transformed into the Goblin.
While it was a major change, it didn't change or ruin the episode's story.

i wouldn't say abomination, but it DID make him look like A REJECT out of the ARMOR WARS

yep the MUA 2 version of Green Goblin is perfect and the face should just be a latex mask.

Id LOVE to see them go that route

No formula for Norman to turn into an actual Goblin. Maybe Norman is working on a trans-dimensional portal to a parallel/another world & when he opens it something comes through that possesses him or bites him which would allow him to turn into a Goblin. When Norman looks in the mirror or other reflective surfaces he sees the Goblin talking to him & when the Goblin looks in the mirror or reflective surfaces he sees Norman talking to him. In the end not knowing how to defeat him besides killing him Spider-Man lures the Goblin/Norman back to the trans-dimensional portal & he gets sucked back in taking Norman with him.

I say He turns Himself into the 616 Goblin and then wears a Costume over it.

Physical transformation.

Not into Hulk goblin of course but into his classic goblin look. How are they going to portray his facial expressions if he is wearing a mask. I mean, it works in the comics but in the films its going to look ridiculous for him to wear a mask and expect him to emote the same amount of rage and expressions as he does in the comics....oh well...unless you want him to have a constant expression through out the whole film like in Raimi's
movie

Thats exactly how I think it should be done. I want them to keep goblin's facial expressions. You can't really do that with a mask...and although you can have him put makeup that sounds absolutely ridiculous

No Ultimate Goblin thanks.

Just do normal Green Goblin. But not Power Range Golin.

The suit he wears in MUA2 or in Warren Ellis T-Bolts run is PERFECT for live action.

Why would it be ridiculous? Just give him make up but play it off as a mask.

I mean, if people can buy it in a comdey/drama (Mrs Doubtfire) they will buy it in a superhero movie.

How about a stone-ish mask like the one in the Mask?

make the expression more melancholy yet menacing, and cover it with a tattered cloak/hook so we rarely see the actual mask
where your going sounds like something nolanish. its not a bad idea but i think people want to see a more comic-like version of the goblin.

Because this...

Is something that would realistically take 3-4 hours. You have an entirely green face, elf like ears, a sinister goblin nose...I mean what kind of villain is going to spend so much time doing that?

For the joker it worked because he was sloppy and it looked like something he did in 5-10 minutes.
If it will upset fans so much perhaps they should find a way to just avoid addressing it at all

EDIT: I guess they can just say the mask is extremely high tech and made with nanotechnology...which is why it functions as a second skin

Or they could just do this...
Just give him make up but play it off as a mask.
...very much like they do in Tom Cruise's MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE movies, with the removing of the masks.

Yup, exactly.

In Mission Impossible and Mrs Doubtfire it does obviously take hours to put on in the real world, but they can just play it off as a mask he puts on.

At the end of the day they are superhero movies, people will buy it. And if they don't? They shouldn't be watching superhero movies.

Transformation and costume. Just blend the two.

I could live with that.

But I'm tired of all the logic stating he can't just have a mask. Every other frickin sci fi movie or whatever we can suspend disbelief, but for the Green Goblin, The Joker to Spider-Man essentially, we can't get something scary, somewhat comic classic mixed with tech, with a MASK (just go the Mission Impossible route for wheatcakes sake).

My goodness, follow Nike and JUST DO IT already:whatever:
