Even though I think they should save the Green Goblin for the third film, I think this design would be amazing. It has menance to it.

Here's a better example of a silicone mask...

And it's even a Goblin...

That's ****ing awesome! :wow:

Physically transform. I'm not crazy about the idea, but come on...the original movie will be 10 years old when this comes out. They need to do something different, to distinguish it. If they are reusing Goblin as a villain, I don't see a choice but to transform him.

That would be perfect.

Goblin doesn't have to appear in this film. If they are planning a trilogy it would make more sense to have GG appear in a sequel and have the plot build up to him. Batman Begins did it with the Joker and the Sherlock Holmes film did it with Moriarty.

Or you could have the Goblin already working in the shadows, no confrontation with spidey (untill a later movie) and build on Norman.

Yeah, I kind of meant something along those lines. Norman Osborne could appear and he could even be heavily involved with the plot, but no Green Goblin yet.

I don't think GG should even be in the first reboot film, I could care less what he looks like. But I loved Raimi's version....so I think suiting up should still happen.

I like Ramos' Goblin design from A Death in the Family (Return of the Goblin). I think the Semi-armored costumed look would work well despite Ramos' cartoony style. Make it kinda tattered and realistic and it could come off great.

Ramos style is perfect - it's basically Raimi's armored design with clothing on top.

What about something like this? [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoDM3GjOE4Y[/YT]
Would be cool with the purple clothing... :word:

This is what I want to see. Norman works best when he works from the shadows.

I do like this look, but the glider bugs me. It looks like he is riding it backwards.

I agree. I want to see something different than what Raimi did. I think building up a plot of Green Goblin for third movie is what they should do.

That design is too cartoonish and silly looking. He doesn't look like a threat at all. Just like someone who would annoy you to death. He looks more like a Sponge Bob character than a Spider-Man villain, even though the story that design was used was great.

Don't get caught up on an artist's cartoony style and overlook a great costume design. Like I said, the artist draws his characters cartoony, but the costume itself would look great in real life. Better than the original skin tight look.

Actually, I think I might agree. I have this action figure and it seems like the same costume more or less and it would look pretty cool in real life.

For a less cartoony look at that suit, I highly suggest looking at Mark Millar and Terry Dodson's Marvel Knights Spider-Man run from a few years back. AWESOME story and AWESOME art. Plus, it uses that specific Goblin suit.

Personally, I think that other SM 1 design that's being posted is just as bad as the one they ended up using. He looks like a Tron character that decided to try out Halloween. It's like a weird mash-up of tron and nightmare before christmas. All the Tron characters dancing around and singing "MAKING HALLOWEEN, MAKING HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEEEEEEEEN!!!"

THIS YEAR, HALLOWEEN WILL BE OOOUUURRRSSS!!!!!

Isn't that what we were trying to avoid? Don't we want less techy and more organic-ish? I honestly think a smaller scale, less hulking Mr. Hyde-like transformation, combined with a costume/outfit will be the best of both worlds while avoiding any cheesiness.

I guess as long as it isn't cheesy we'll be moving in the right direction.

A literal interpretation of that would look stupid on screen. That is great for a cartoon...for live action......no.

Try different colors and a slight alteration...instead of blue, dark green clothing....blackish gloves / armor / hat with slight purple tone. Clothing is tattered, worn, and dirty. Face looks evil.

Try not to picture it as an action figure. I think thats what screws it up for you.

Yeah, that's what stopped me from getting that figure. Horrible paint job. In the comics, that suit has always been portrayed with dark colors. It would definitely be the best comic based starting place for crafting a look that suits a green goblin on film. It mixes the armor and cloth look in a way that has cinematic potential. Obviously there's room for interpretation, like the use of purple, the hat, the gloves, and the "pirate boots", etc. The bodysuit itself though is great. Keep to the dark greens and blacks and you're set. Really the only thing it leaves that really needs to be worried about still is the face, or at least how it would be handled on screen anyway.

No physical transformation. Just an awesome suit & a pyshco mind will do. I would really like to see the GG taken as dark as he can be. Frightening costume- very gothic, wicked/insane laugh- just a complete loose cannon flying around NYC throwing pumpkin bombs that look like pumpkins (like in the comics). I really don't want to see this horned ultimate goblin beast running around- while it was cool in the Ultimate series, lets stay traditional (in a sense) with this reboot.

Of course they COULD do that. But for the sake of this thread what they can and can't do are irrelevant. This thread is asking the question under the assumption that Goblin will be the villain.

Actually, the thread is relevant wether the Green Goblin appears in the first movie or not, as long as he appears at some point in the new series.

Anyway...

Before I used to think that physical transformation would be the only way to avoid the "static mask" look that the Raimi Goblin had. I thought that there was just no way to have both a mask and a face that could express emotions.
I was ignorant and now I know it - that silicone mask on the previous page proves that and it's awesome. It's absolutely perfect. They should use the same principle, only green and perhaps with sharper and more sinister features.
As for the costume, I'm liking the more elaborate and contemporary design of Ramos. Something along those lines, but perhaps a bit darker, tattered and gothic. When you look at the Goblin, you should be able to realize at once that he's a man in a mask and costume, but at the same time to be clear that he spent a lot of time and effort to make it look like a grotesque creature, becuse he's just that insane.
