I think we'll eventually see BRB. There's still time for him.

I hope so, love the character and hope we see him as part of The Annihilators some day. I just if they are reluctant to do him as the character would likely need to be CGI.

This film needs to be Lord of the Rings kind of epic. Not in spectacle or action but in the scope of it. There are many, many places left to explore in Thor's realms and now that they can have a bigger budget (certainly bigger than the first one) I think they have a real shot at making something with different locations. Like they said, a big epic adventure road movie through realms. Planes, Trains and Automobiles in the cosmos doing stuff.

For me,the movie really starts to fly the moment Thor brings Jane to Asgard, like in the Avengers when Thor flies on the Quinjet. BUT,I could have done it without the 'MewMew' joke.

This feeds into what I was saying earlier. There's nothing wrong with having a "mew mew" joke in the film per se. It just shouldn't be during the final battle when Thor's about to have his final showdown with the villain. Timing is key.

Please please please ,a fight with Hulk :D

Thor 3 set to feature female superhero Valkyrie

:hmr:

The forthcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Ragnarok is rumoured to be accompanying Chris Hemsworth’s Norse god with a female superhero.

The character, Valkyrie, will reportedly play a key role in the film, which would mark her live-action debut after she first appeared in The Avengers comic book in 1970. According to Birth Movies Death, an insider has suggested the script will focus on Thor and his fellow Avenger Hulk as they embark on “a cosmic road trip”.

During their journey, they will encounter Valkyrie, a known associate – and sometime romantic interest – of Thor in the comic. She is the leader of the Valkyrior, celestial beings who select which slain warriors will ascend to Valhalla.

Beta Ray Bill is probably the last character I'd like to see as copy heroes are just unimaginative to me. The perfect way to dilute what Thor is since he really only brings a new look, but says that a Mjolnir can just be mail ordered and God of Thunder badges can be handed out. He's not even that different in personality like Stark and Rhodey. It's not that I don't think there's been cool stories with him and Thor fighting together, I just think the MCU will be richer with unique characters being introduced.

Valkyrie is cool, but it kind of leads me to wonder if she'll bump out a chance for Sif to finally shine?

Just because, it's too much. I only see it working if Hulk is part of the story, and is playing "full asgardian" in terms of the plot, and relevance to the story. With the Hulk rumor, these new character introductions the obvious use of Thanos (since this is the last film prior to infinity war), and the fact that the norns talked about the infinity stones leads me to think that Thanos is taking Surtur's place and that Ragnarok is simply the start of the infinity war.

In fact, Age of Ultron was the start of something bigger. What if the cycle of "Ragnarok" starts with the Age of Ultron, and ends with Infinity War?

Dunno man, the only reason I see use of Surtur is because "Ragnarok". It already is packed enough. Loki and Thanos will be baddies in it, what would Surtur's role be?

I personally highly doubt Thanos will play a big role. I more expect him to come in and plunder an Asgard in ruins, or at the most pulling some strings from behind the scenes. His place to be the huge villain will come in the two following Avengers movies.

Also, if Thanos is the bad guy I don't see why the movie would be called Ragnarok. It can't just be the start of the Infinity War as Feige said Ragnarok is the end of all things.

As for Hulk, I also don't see why the story has to revolve much around him. He can just be drawn into the battle against Surtur and Muspelheim and most of his use in the Avengers movies have been as an action effect. I could see him just being another force for the good guys and having some fun moments with Thor and Loki. We already know the character.

I doubt Loki will be a main villain. Thor will have to deal with him and his impersonation of Odin, but when it all comes down to it I just can't see that character stand against Asgard when Ragnarok is imminent. That would not be in line with anything he's done in the MCU.

Surtur doesn't have to be in it but if he isn't I only think it will be because they want the threat to be something different. But we'll see, it's all just speculation on loose grounds.

Well the report said Hulk has a lead role. A Sort of buddy buddy film.

What I'm saying is I hope "Ragnarok" is based off the Ragnarok from the comic mythos, and not just a label for whatever happens in the movie.
Fingers crossed, I'm sure my worry will be for nothing, but the doubt is still there a little bit.

I think opening the movie with a giant flaming silhouette forging a sword would be awesome

I'm wondering if Alexander's newly busy schedule is perhaps the reason Valkyrie is being introduced... maybe they can't schedule in enough Sif, so they gotta bring in a new female ass-kicker

also interesting that these rumors contain no mention of Jane or her crew, wonder how they could possibly fit into a "cosmic buddy road trip"

ugh, just typing those 4 words together gave me a migraine

Am I wrong or did Alexander say Sif was coming back?

^She did. Maybe they'll FINALLY give her and the other Asgardian cast some decent screentime/something to do this time around.

Asa Hulk fan I hope the rumours of him being in this are true. It sounds like they may give the Sentry/Hulk friendship in the comics to Their and Hulk, which would quite cool to see.

Was really hoping we would get Beta Ray Bill in this but as a Hulk fan I can't argue if he is taking BRB's place.
Ya Hulk just makes way more sense right now because we haven't met Bill yet.

Wow a 1-second line takes you guys out of it? Who cares if it's the final battle? There's nothing sacred about that. We've seen so many of those "climactic big battles" they've become rote.

I enjoyed all the comedy and felt towards the end it was a release on the tension and a subtle way of letting you know - Yes Thor is going to save the day. It mirrors Thor's own cocksure response to Malekith's "Have you come to witness the end of your universe?" and he says "I'm come to accept your surrender".

Thor is a guy who doesn't always think things through and likes to solve his problems by hitting them with his hammer. But in the end it usually all works out. TDW as a film felt exactly like that.

I agree completely. I've enjoyed both Thor films immensely but I'm ready for them to really open up the mythos. I keep putting my hope in Feige's promise that they are going to take Thor to "another level".

Personally, I don't need nor want the "tension released" during a climax where the entire universe is on the brink of annihilation. Quite the reverse actually, I'd want it to be taken more seriously, because it's a damn serious situation. Stuff like "oh ho, Thor needs to take the subway. Isn't that cute?" Or "Oh ho, the world's ending, but Jane and Selvig catch the comic-relief sidekick making out with her comic-relief sidekick, isn't that funny?" and so on just make me roll my eyes.

Part of it also that I just didn't find much of the humor all that funny to begin with. People keep trying to convince me that the "Thor hanging his hammer on a hook" or "Selvig running around Stonehenge naked" were hilarious, and I'm just not seeing it.

I got a brief chuckle out of the hammer thing, and thought selvig's funnier moment was when they showed him at the mental hospital or whatever

agreed about the humor during the finale though
a well timed quip can be alright in tense moments (Cap's "If they're shooting at you, they're bad", Hawkeye's "I could shoot him and nobody would know" in AoU) but a barrage of slapstick does not convey the seriousness of a possible world-ending event

That is why humor is subjective.

On one hand you have people complaining about movies being formula and then on the other hand you have people prescribing a series of rules that movies apparently must follow at all times. :whatever:

They just don't know what to do with Thor, that's all. He's a semi-fish out of water, he's as strong as Hulk, stuff that lends itself to more characterization, but they can't seem to do anything.

his characterization was still the best in Thor 1
it's in those silly, fish-out-of-water moments where he really shines
eg. "I need a horse", "bilge snipe", Thor's battle report in AoU

I've only seen reports saying that he's a supporting role., although you can certainly be in a movie a lot despite not being a lead.

And I didn't mean to say that you wanted it to be about something else than the real Ragnarok, in case it sounded like that. I'm just discussing it a bit for fun. That seems like a great start of the movie, and it could also be a great end credits scene for the previous movie, although it wouldn't say too much to those outside the comic sphere. In any case; DOOOM!

I think the basic trait they have for him is that he's naive about some stuff, but he's not stupid. He knows when he's being insulted, he knows how to handle enemies and people from Midgard, etc.
