Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

Thor: Ragnarok has scored multiple nominations in the Critics' Choice Awards. Chris Hemsworth has been nominated as Best Actor in a Comedy, recognition he surely deserves for his performance. That's a tough category but I'm pulling for Chris to win.

THOR: RAGNAROK (3)

Best Visual Effects

Best Action Movie

Best Actor in a Comedy – Chris Hemsworth

That's awesome, I hope they win in all 3 categories, especially Hemsworth. He was fantastic in Ragnarok and thoroughly deserves it. People always underestimate him because he's a good looking beefcake who's most famous for playing a superhero in franchise movies, but I've always thought he's very underrated as an actor.

Nice, hope it has a good showing there.

Glad to see this getting some recognition, it was a fun, fantastic film. :)

- Blade Runner 2049
- Dunkirk
- The Shape of Water
- Thor: Ragnarok
- War for the Planet of the Apes
- Wonder Woman

BEST ACTION MOVIE

- Baby Driver
- Logan
- Thor: Ragnarok
- War for the Planet of the Apes
- Wonder Woman

BEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY

- Steve Carell – Battle of the Sexes
- James Franco – The Disaster Artist
- Chris Hemsworth – Thor: Ragnarok
- Kumail Nanjiani – The Big Sick

"Visual Effects" probably ends up going to either Dunkirk or WFTPOTA.
"Best Action Movie" is a decent bet for Thor Ragnarok.
"Best Actor In A Comedy" is also a solid bet for Chris Hemsworth.

Bobby Holland Hanton, Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double:

That's a lot of competition. :p

The King of Asgard keyframe I illustrated on Thor Ragnarok. I love that this scene had the original Thor theme playing as a bookend to where we started.

This movie is like the kind of surreal scifi fantasy that you normally only ever see in cartoons. Seeing it in live action, with such great looking effects, was absolutely fantastic. Back when the MCU first started I'd have never imagined we could get something like this.

And by God, this may have had my favorite core group of main characters out of any MCU movie. Thor, Loki, Hulk/Banner, and Valkyrie all had such amazing chemistry and I love them all.

Awesome image that one with King Thor, Valkyrie, Hulk, Heimdall and Korg.

I dunno, I find Logan and even WW to have better chances.

:csad: With all the current women's issues being front and center, the pressure will be strongly felt and WW will probably garner more support in the awards department...
Not to say it was a bad movie, its just not the Holy Grail many claim..

:cwink: On the box office front...TR will surpass WW worldwide 821 Million with Fridays draw...

On the Golden Globe end Logan a well as WW were completely ignored in every category...

Current TR numbers..

Domestic: $301,156,064 36.1%
+ Foreign: $532,000,000 63.9%
= Worldwide: $833,156,064

My wife called me from work this afternoon....she said she was having a bad day....so she wants to go see THOR tonight to cheer her up. The things a guy has to do to keep his wife happy. :woot:

Your wife is very wise. :D

My brother has still not seen Thor: Ragnarok (busy with school), and it's killing me trying to not give away any spoilers! I'm so sad he probably won't see it until it comes out on DVD because he would LOVE it. But seriously, it's so hard to not talk about this movie!!

Every single time a relive this scene I get chills.
The hole build up, epicness and badassery get me every time.

Goodness, the use of slow motion in this movie is brilliant. Slow motion often looks cheesy or messes up the pacing of an action scene (*cough*WonderWoman*cough*), but it's executed so perfectly here and it looks amazing.
