Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

Wow this could actually happen. If Hemsworth and Waititi are both onboard then Marvel would be foolish to not follow up on the success of this film.

Yep, not following up on Raganarok would be very foolish. A sequel could make or get close to a billion, if it's as good and has a great marketing strategy.

Hahahahahaha nice :lmao: :thor:

So, I'm assuming Loki/Hulk scene on the bridge didn't make the features?

Neither did the Hela and Loki scene either by the sounds of it, that's the one scene I desparately wanted to see amongst the deleted stuff so that bums me out a little. :csad: Oh well, the rest sounds great. I'm particularly looking forward to the featurette about Hela and Valkyrie. Awesome. Oh, and Waititi's director's commentary because that **** is going to be hilarious. :woot:

I don't mind Loki and Hela not getting a big scene together, Loki got enough shine in Thor 1, Avengers, and had all the best scenes in TDW.

It's about time he takes a back seat to the actual main character.

Yeah, he’s had plenty of the limelight in the MCU. For a non-hero character he’s probably had the most.

It wasn't a 'big scene', according to Hiddleston there was some brief interaction filmed between Loki and Hela where they acknowledged their similarities, that's all. It hardly would have upset the balance of screentime between Loki and Thor much. Especially if it was only included as a deleted scene. In the original script, Hela called Loki 'that little ****', that would have been hilarious if they kept it in. :woot: Oh well...

I'd do unspeakable things to get Taika back for the 4th.

I think there’s a half-decent chance of Taika and Thor 4. They all seem up for it. It would make money. Just a case of MCU priorities and what fits on the schedule.

I think there's a very decent chance, we didn't see the cast of Iron Man 3 anywhere near this excited for Iron Man 4.

I think it definitely counts for something. The morale on Ragnarok seemed Sky-high.

Taika seems to create a great atmosphere and cameraderie on set from what we've seen, all the cast and crew looked like they were having an absolute blast. Cate commented that it's the most fun movie set she's ever worked on, and that woman has made a **** ton of movies so she knows what she's talking about. :woot:

I think Thor 4 is a definite possibility following the amazing success of Ragnarok, both critically and financially. Marvel Studios would be fools not to consider it, especially considering Thor has such a rich and vast universe of cosmic stories to adapt from. Like Iceman has said, I guess it just depends if they can find a slot for it in their upcoming slate of films, especially with the Fox deal and characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four finally coming into play.

One thing I would really like to see from the deleted material is the version of Odin's death and Hela's appearance in NYC alley rather than in Norway.
Odin as a bum, Thor and Loki flying around together with trash cans. Cool.

This!! *jumps up for joy* well said :woot:

Yayness!!

eh, I could take or leave Taika. While he did accept and explore the weird stuff, he turned it into a straight comedy. None of the "emotional" parts of the movie held any impact for more than 10 seconds before turning them into a joke.

I still say Hela would have made a heck of alot more sense if she was Loki's mother.. rather than sister. The whole story could have still been played out as such, but it would have been more fitting and tied his story up with a nice little both had she been his mother.

I would have preferred that route too but...her being the sister...it is what it is in the film.

Hela being Loki's mother would make sense but it would also make the story a bit more centered in Loki, his backstory, the family dynamics... It would have taken some of the spotlight from Thor and his journey. Hela could have also been just the goddess death/queen of Hel and with no connection whatsoever with the asgardian royal family and i would be totally fine with that.

Hela being Odin's daughter is a neat concept but it would have worked much better if that was really explored and given enough time to breath and marinate with Cate's performance. They ended up opting for another path which worked but could have been even better executed.

That’s a big compliment given the extent of Cate’s career. Even the Ragnarok board was really fun with not many arguments compared to others and I hope we get everybody back if/when Thor 4 happens. I think if Marvel could make as many films as they wanted then this one would be a no-brainer but of course their priorities may be elsewhere with this new deal along with so many projects they are likely to have committed to. I think Thor is one of the Marvel characters most suited to a long run of solo films given how many stories there are to cover away from most of the rest of the Avengers whose stories are more likely to overlap, and having a set of supporting characters who need no link to Earth.

And the canvas for bold, colourful visuals.
