Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 5

I dont think Thor needs Mljonir to generate lightning though. And him breaking the ground while running is nothing new. He did it when he running towards Makekith in Thor 2. Regardless, awesome shot.
Breaking the ground while running boosted with lighting all over him is something definitely new. It's epic. In that fight against Malekith it's something very little and almost goes unnoticed.

The Team Thor shorts are mockumentaries, not in MCU continuity, just made for a laugh pretty much.

Thor: Ragnarok will not feature a documentary crew following Thor around the cosmos. :cwink:

Instead of fretting though, you could just watch Waititi's movies and decide for yourself if you like his vibe. Start with Boy & Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

No mention of Black, but Reed gets a nod? How obscene. :o

Black & Whedon>>>>> Gunn>>>>>>>>>>>Reed.
Good god, how could I have forgotten Shane Black? I liked Iron Man 3 too!

Waititi > Black > Whedon >>> Gunn >>>>>> Reed

I found myself revisiting clips of Wilderpeople on YT and was just bursting out laughing during the funeral scene. Man, I'm so excited for Ragnarok.

I thought he would be without mjolnir on the arena and i feared it would be a very one sided fight for obvious reasons, just because mjolnir and it's powers is such an integral part of Thor and how powerful he can really be... Without mjolnir, Thor is still a God and is no push-over, but is nowhere near the same magnitude as when he is wielding the hammer.

That said. I still don't know, and it hasn't been shown anything to verify that mjolnir is with Thor in the arena but the lightning effect and the "power up move" seems to indicate that we may get mjolnir after all. After all the sword and axe fighting maybe. Or we could just get something completely new and see him power up with lighting even without mjolnir. In AoU we actually saw Heimdall warning Thor about him leading the Asgard forces to Hel and something being destroyed. He ends by saying "See where your power leads" and that's when lightning starts firing out of his body and destroying people and things around him.

It's amazing and super interesting to know what really makes Thor "power up" like that. The ground shattering with him running filled with lighting is just absolutely EPIC. And it does look like Hulk gets tagged big time.

Of course, the hero's powers are what the writers and directors say they are, but, at least in the old comics I used to read, it was clear that Thor was at least the equal of Hulk in hand to hand combat. In one book, Thor was recalling to two kids his encounter with Hulk. If he didn't have his hammer for a certain amount of time, he changed back into Dr. Blake. He got leave from Odin to put the hammer down and basically put an ass whoopin' on Hulk until he hesitated to see what effect his blows had on him.

I know this is just concept art and may not mean anything, but is it possible that we'll see Hela in NY for the first time?
It could be early into the movie too.

They keep "emphasizing" on it because it's his trademark.
You should definitely watch his movies first and then you will realize why they choose to "emphasize" on his brand of humor. And he can do drama as well with a good balance between both humor and drama.

I am not saying his humor is for everyone. But then again what is in this day and age. It's just a special kind of humor... Meanwhile here's clips from The Hunt For The Wilderpeople where you can check what kind of humor he can bring to the table. Check them out and share your opinion on them. ;)
:hmm I like it, that's my type of humor!

He completely obliterates a dude in the nightmare from AoU.

You dont even see Thor do that in the comics reguarly. I think Thor has been handled well in the MCU. I do wish we had more of him speaking in the third person, or some dialogue that reflects his comic book personality though. Besides that, he IS Thor.

Recall when Vision was brought to life? Everyone was fighting, and then, in comes Thor who has already appeared to have made up his mind. Not only does no one challenge him, but no one even bothers to argue with him, side Banner. Thor decided he gets the last word on Vision's birth. Everyone knew it, and no one challenged it.

I wonder what is the origin of Thor's electrical powers in mcu. In that universe, asgardians aren't actually gods. But yet Thor has powers others of his race don't. Is he some kind of mutant? Was some magical ritual done to him?

I would HOPE he's a "mutant", in the comics he was Gaea's son, you would think THAT gave him his powers and Mjolnir Focus' them

That would be a bit of an odd place to introduce her...I think her first scene is gonna be her arriving to Asgard like in the first concept art pic of her

Probably when Thor and Loki are looking for Odin.

Where is that from? Has some video of it been released?
It's the full version of Team Thor 2 on the Doctor Strange Digital Extras. The first video is where Thor moves in with that one guy during Civil War. There's a partial one on You tube.

Regardless, the concept art for Hela looks amazing.

Cate Blanchett is going to slay.

Gaea is rumoured to appear in Ragnarok (a woman in a blue cloak, and "Hi Mom" and "Hi Dad" labels (Hopkins, aka Odin, was on set as well).

Nice, It would be interesting how Marvel approaches Odin's flings with other women lol It's about like Loki's flings with other CREATURES lmao

I don't think that "Gaea" rumor is true.
The woman who appeared apparently was suppose to be a stunt double for Cate Blanchett. I think that theory is much more likely than going that deep into the mythos by tackling "Gaea".

Those "Hi Mom" and "Hi Das" labels we're a joke from a member of the crew in charge of the costumes.

I think Hela is responsible for Odin being on Earth with seemingly no memory of who he really is, MCU Loki doesn't seem to be powerful enough to accomplish that on his own. If she is, it makes sense that she would launch an attack on Thor and Loki (and Doctor Strange?) if they try and find him to take him back to Asgard. I really hope the Doc is in that scene, a magical duel between him and Hela would be awesome. Whether that's early in the film I have no idea though, I agree that her first scene will probably be her marching into Asgard and facing off against the Einherjar, just like in the first concept art released.

I don't think that "Gaea" rumor is true.

Agreed. The hooded woman appears to be in stand in for Hela, nothing more. She's definitely not Cate's stunt double because that's Zoe Bell who's pretty much the most celebrated female stunt artist in the world, she did all the stunt work for the Bride in Kill Bill among others. When I found out that she was the one doing Hela's stunts I was so hyped, Hela is definitely going to be a total badass. :woot:

If you want Strange to appear again in Infinity War he better not cross paths with Hela. He is not on her level :woot:
