Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 6

Not that I agree with him, but Feige did say that Ragnarok would be to Phase 3 what TWS was to Phase 2. Granted nothing in that statement was about tone though.

I think Feige was implying that Ragnarok would be a gamechanger, the way TWS was relative to TFA. Or perhwps he meant that they had finally " cracked the code" on the ultimate Thor movie. Im guessing that Feige considers TWS to be a near perfect "prestige" Marvel film.

Well, teaser's killed my Hype.

Looks like Guardians. Feels like Guardians. Nothing feels mythic, or epic, Valkyrie comes off as weak. WTF is Loki's look? The narration too? That's so laughably old its a meme. Hire a funny director, get a funny movie.

A friend saw it and described it thus: "Thor: Ragnarok. But instead of showing Ragnarok let's show Thor if he was in Guardians."

Totally the Winter Soldier of Phase 3. Note heavy sarcasm.

What a joke.

Hire a fun director for a fun movie. Finally delivering the promise of full Kirby weirdness on screen.

I've enjoyed the previous two Thor movies just fine; they just haven't blown my mind, nor have they been nearly as re-watchable as most of the other Marvel movies.

This trailer completely blew me away though. Absolutely love the tone and the style they are going with here. Completely, 100% on board.

It took one teaser trailer to make this one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I might now be looking more forward to this film than Guardians 2 and Spider-Man Homecoming. I kid you not.

You forgot to add that Cate is ugly, a terrible actor, doesn't fit the role well, and seems to not care what she's doing.... Note heavy sarcasm.....

And he's not wrong about that. In fact, I think that it's the best MCU film to date overall.

Was only a matter of time before they give Heimdall a bit of action when he's played by Idris.

the stars look like they are aligning themselves that way for sure

Good. Could be a bit ironic that Thor might have the two of the best villains from the MCU. Considering many say the two Thor movies have been the weakest.

I don't mind the first two Thor movies either and I'm actually one of the few that prefers Dark World over the first movie, but both are some of the weakest of the MCU films. I'm fully hyped for this movie though and I don't understand the complaints about this looking colorful. If anything a Thor movie should be vibrant since the material lends itself to a more trippy 70's- 80's era influence similar to He-Man/Flash Gordon.

???

Now that
The hammer brakes in the trailer
we can assume that Throg, protector of Central Park is a possibility?

No action up to now? Tell that to the two frost giants in Thor and invisible ship in TDW :o ;)

I feel exactly like Thor when he screams out "Yesssssss" after seeing Hulk.

So effin' glorious.

When have we gotten any official statement that either Surtur or Fenris would be in the movie, at all?
We haven't had any official statement on the subject.

But it's official because it was released as the Comic-Con footage/concept art... Many people/news outlets that we're present at the event saw it and reported on it. You can google it if you want.

We got a look at the Fenris Wolf, a being inspired by Fenrisulfr of Norse mythology. In mythology, the Fenris Wolf is prophesied to devour Odin. It is also said to be the offspring of Loki. Oh, Loki, you dog!

The footage ended with Hulk launching himself at Surtur, the gigantic fire demon who helps bring about Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard and all things. Inspired by the being from Norse mythology, Surtur made his Marvel Comics debut in Journey Into Mystery #97.

This trailer is better then the first two Thor movies, and I like the first one. :funny:

Forget 3D or IMAX, this is coming to you in KirbyVision. #KirbyVision

TWS in terms of importance, that movie had impact that lingered into AoU and Civil War. Thor 3 will have impact that lingers into IWs maybe GOTG3.

TWS was more of a spy movie and was critical as a setup to AoU and CW. I don't want a Thor spy movie, but it IS, I'm sure, going to be critical to the events going forward. I'm pretty sure he meant that part of it.

EDIT: Here I go being repetitious.....again......

That's kind of what I meant...I guess I wasn't 100% clear in my post. But yeah, I guess we're on the same page :hyper:

What a joke.

So you thought Marvel hired Taika to make Ragnarok similar to TWS? If you had seen or heard about Taika then you would never have made this assumption.

I've seen quite a few general fans sharing the Thor teaser on social media and saying that they believe it looks good and they're excited for it. That's a good sign!
