Thank you. :cwink:

Her powers in the comics:

- Topaz is a powerful mystic with exceptional empathic, telepathic, and telekinetic abilities. She can magnify or diminish emotions, infuse life energy, and heal injures. She can serve as a familiar to other sorcerers, focusing and magnifying their abilities. She has taken two separate forms, one Caucasian, one Indian.

I have no problem accepting that it won't be an adaptation of Infinity Gauntlet. I think it's entirely plausible that they get rid of the death worshipping thing entirely, regardless of whether it's the abstract entity or Hela. I just think the assumption that Thanos is in love with Hela is premature.

As recently as 2-3 weeks ago when Josh Brolin went back to the IW set, he posted a picture of himself on Instagram in his mocap suit and one of the hashtags on the picture was #ImJustAPurpleGuyLookingForLove. The post was then swiftly deleted within a couple of hours. That's pretty damning proof to me that Thanos will definitely have a love interest in IW. I don't think the assumption that it may be Hela is premature at all, there have been quite a few hints pointing to it including Marvel recently putting Thanos and Hela together in the comics verse when they'd never even interacted with each prior to the Unworthy Thor book. Marvel have a long and proven history of changing things up in the comics to closer reflect the movies.

Also, if Death as a character is going to be IW, I can't help feel that we would have some info about her by now with all this new stuff being released but we've had nothing at all, no word of an actress being cast, no concept art and there's no glimpse of a Death like character in the IW trailer at all. If Death is a completely separate character to Hela then there would be no need for Marvel to hide her whatsoever, however hiding Hela's possible involvement in IW at the moment makes a lot of sense because it's potentially a big spoiler for Ragnarok.

Finally, I know Hela has always been the (Asgardian) Goddess of Death in the comics, but I feel like Marvel Studios are really playing that angle up in a lot of the promo for this film, she's referred to as the Goddess of Death twice in the two minute trailer alone, and it's also emblazened across one of the Hela t-shirts that have been released. It's almost like Marvel are really trying to hammer (pun intended :cwink:) the point that she's the Goddess of DEATH (wink wink, nudge nudge) home to the audience.

I can't blame Thanos if he falls for Hela. I mean...

My internet keeps going down at the moment and it's driving me crazy because I can't discuss the trailer with you guys properly. Goddamnit BT! :cmad:

The reactions of people online to the Official Trailer are just priceless. :woot:

Yeah, I've watched a good amount of reaction videos by now, plus the trailer itself a bunch of times, and I still get chills when I watch it...

Rachael House.....is she one of Taika's regular actors?

Absolutely Mjolnir. It's a visceral experience.

She is. Dr. Evil check some of her work in THFTWP from Taika Waititi.

Nice to see Cate Blanchett do a fun movie again.

But death has been shown in the mcu with the other three entities creating the infinity stones. Do you think that hela is powerful enough to create them?

Hela may well be in infinity war. She may be thanos's love interest. She may be the goddess of death. It doesn't mean that she is the cosmic entity death. Or that the cosmic entity death may not turn up at some point in another film.

There were the same arguments that adam warlock wouldn't be in the mcu because vision had stolen his role.

I think you're missing my point. I'm not arguing that Hela actually is Death in the MCU, and I don't think anyone else is either. I'm arguing that she's likely going to be the object of Thanos' affection in IW and take Death's role from the original IG story, that's all. I'm in no way saying that Death and the other cosmic entities couldn't show up at some later stage.

I can't be the only one who is thrilled about Karl Urban being in this film, right?

He's such a talented and lovable dude. I think his career deserves so much better than what's happened over the past handful of years.

Fair enough.

Not long to wait to see if you're right. I'm guessing we'll see at the end of thor ragnarok if she survives or has a relationship with thanos.

You're not the only one. :cwink:

Good luck to the beautiful couple. Thanos better not dress down when he meets Hela though!

I'm going to stick with my theory that Hela is simply a physical embodiment, a shell if you will for the entity known as death, or could just be able to harness Deaths powers somehow, and when she's killed in Thor Ragnarok death will be released

You can keep Cate Blanchette playing her.

Clancy Brown is voicing Surtur.

Hela isn't an embodiment of Death in the comics. She's an Asgardian with specific powers.

She in no way represents death, which, she HAS to somehow for her to work with Thanos. Otherwise, bleh.

Ehhh. . . she's a death goddess, with death powers, who rules over a realm of the dead and collects souls. She's not an Embodiment of Death in the "Capital G" cosmic fundamental sense, but lets not go disregarding her. Of all the various death and underworld deities in Marvel, she's probably the second most powerful after Dormammu, as backed up by the time an apocalypse beast ( Demogorgon? I can't remember the name ) was rampaging through the death god set.

I don't think he is a villain, he is the same as Collector. They are in the middle and do what they can to survive, they have their own interest.

During the panel they said him and the Collector are brothers. Both are the oldest beings in the universe and were born from a big bang. I see them playing a Watcher type role. They have seen everything going on and know what is ahead.

I hope they follow this idea up in the movie, and show a little more explicitly at how powerful the Grandmaster is. If Elders like him treat with gods as equals, or even prisoners, it would be nice making clear that to the Grandmaster, a god *is* a peer ( or an inferior ).

Would the Living Tribunal be a bad guy or good guy?

Neither, I imagine. He'd be a cosmic supporting character, providing exposition and the justification for plot macguffins. He wouldn't do stuff, so much as provide context for how the heroes do stuff.

'course not! Most genre fans love him.
