It's a great poster and tells hardly any of the awesomeness that we can expect from this film.

So there's rumors now that
Surtur gets killed early-on in the movie

Thoughts?

Provably false. We know Hulk fights Surtur at some point.

Finally, Hulk jumps, screaming, down from a high point, descending upon the fire demon Surtur.

That makes no sense if he dies near the beginning of the movie, unless the Hulk also shows up and teams up with Thor at the beginning of the movie before they end up on Sakaar (which is really unlikely).

People are being thrown off by the "head" on Thor's back on the toys. For all we know it's not really his head.

It's hard to say... The timeline for the movie is very fuzzy at this point and the Muspelheim/Surtur stuff is hard to figure out. In 2 days and after the Trailer 2 comes out we should get a much better perspective on things. It would make sense for the stuff in Muspelheim to happen earlier on in the movie when Thor still has long hair and mjolnir. That would make a lot of sense and it's the easiest way to understand the timeline.

But then again we see Asgard getting wrecked by what looks like Surtur flames... we know that Hulk fights against Surtur too and that had to be after all the Sakaar stuff so i guess that could be later on when in Asgard and Surtur arrives. And the things is also why would Thor take Surtur's head... It's still confusing at this point. And also Surtur is said to be massive but in some behind the scenes footage he seems big but not a giant, the reports say otherwise... that he is a giant of a beast.

After i saw the Casket of Ancient Winters i started to have several theories. That it would be used against Surtur or maybe it's in Hela possession and Thor needs a giant fire head to go against that freezing artifact. Man i don't know...

We just gotta wait for the Trailer 2 to understand better what is really going on.

The other thing that also kinda supports that theory of that scene being earlier in the movie besides the long hair and mjolnir is that Loki apparently is having a hard time keeping some deals that Odin had in place when he was ruler of Asgard and Loki is losing his grip on the Nine Realms... so probably Thor comes to Asgard and after learning whats going on and Loki's schemes he needs to head to Muspelheim to fix things up. But then again why would he be chained up? Is it some trickery from Loki in order to get Thor down there and do what he gotta do...

It's a bit of a mystery at this point. I guess Thor could go down there and trick Surtur somehow to later on get screwed by Hela which in turn brings back Surtur to the fold. It's a lot of stuff going on and it's a massive jigsaw puzzle. But soon enough we are going to be able to pin point a lot of stuff.

I still wonder about the question of whether or not this movie has a traditional linear narrative.

One would expect that, as these movies almost always do, but there are enough odd details at the moment for me to still have that question in the back of my mind.

Plus, the director isn't really known for nonlinear narratives.

Yeah. It could also be technically linear, but with a cosmic twist.

There was an intriguing rumor that basically suggested that...

Ragnarok might happen right away, and then Thor goes searching for a weapon (maybe an infinity stone) to undo the disastrous events that he failed to prevent initially.

That would technically be linear, but still explain some of the odd bits and pieces we have been picking up on.

I think that could work.

Damn, I want that poster so bad.

I actually like that idea a lot, I usually enjoy a less traditionally linear plot as long as it's done competently.

It's interesting that the Casket of Ancient Winters may be coming into play again from the look of the Loki Hot Toys figure, I'd completely forgotten that was still kicking around in Odin's vault.

Yeah I have to think Surtur is like a finale battle

They released the Dr.Strange one last year. Thor is in the same spot as Strange was as well. Both movies only had the teaser going into SDCC.

Still crossing my fingers LK lol

<I'll be doing what Thor's doing :D

Man, I've been working on more Google Sketch-up 3D on the Renaissance Faire I used to work at the last week because I miss the faire (it's running weekends right now) and because I need some THOR STUFF.
The Map of the Faire I posted in my warehouse, and had 197 downloads in three days lol

Skurge in all his glory. My inner Thor fanboy is going absolutely nuts at this point lol.

Skurge looks so badass. That armor is really something special.
Him shooting double machine guns in that is gonna look so sick. Asgardian Judge Dredd.
