Thor: The Dark World ...DVD

They still seem to be more cautious with the cosmic/otherworldly stuff.
Yep, IM/CA even BW/Shield is a sure thing - earth based, semi realistic si-fi/triller. They know how and to who market it and sure no one will say "it`s silly!" or be offended.

Almost like "let's use those elements but in small doses",hence shorter running times.

Now Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been revealed to have a running time of 2 hours 16 minutes.

I think it's evident that Marvel Studios just doesn't take Thor as seriously as Cap and Iron Man.

Well its either what you say or they have learned their lesson from TDW and give the Cap movie time to breathe, I hope its the latter.

Why am I not surprised by that runtime for Winter Soldier. Watch and see, GOTG will be less than 2 hours.

If its just under 2 hours I wont mind, but it shouldnt be shorter than 115 mins for me, if it is, I will fear another TDW situation, which I knew before even seeing it it would be too short a run-time.

Why does Cap get a normal length run time while Thor is short changed? Cap is so overrated.

I don't know where that one came from (fan-made? international?).

As far as I can tell, this is the Best Buy steel book:

This is also the Zavvi.com steelbook cover, for any UK folks out there.

Swung by Best Buy on my way home form work after deciding to get the steel book (they had it for the same price as the blu-ray combo pack). Unfortunately, they had SOLD OUT of all the steel books by 4 pm when I got there. They guy I was working with said he didn't know how many they started with, but they had 5 left when he got there at 11 and those went pretty quickly. He also showed me all the Best Buys in the area, and most of them were sold out. The closest one with any copies left was about 45 minutes away, and every location he showed me had no more than 3 copies left.

As a Thor fan, I'm glad they're moving product, but I would have loved to pick up a steel book since it wasn't extra $$. Oh well, I'll live. Watching the movie now :)

Steel book option was nice but I went with the Target version just because I love that cover more and the back of the slip case has artwork from the poster that looks LOTR inspired.

Watching the film again I actually liked it this time. The first time I saw it in theaters I felt pretty "meh" about it but now I really like this film. I need the next film to not have any focus on earth however...

^ is there an image online of the artwork that's on the back? i'm curious.

For me, something felt wrong about a Thor movie without Thor on the cover, so I didn't even stop by Target to check their exclusive. I just went straight to BB today.

EDIT: And I totally agree about taking the focus way off earth for Thor 3.

No problem. The one shot was excellent I loved Kingsley in it and the idea that that story (ten rings/mandarin) is far from over.

Have an extra steelbook, anyone?!?

By the time I was able to get to my nearest Best Buy this afternoon, they were sold out. So they called around and another store said they had ONE left. Had them to hold it for me, drove 30 miles to pick it up, just to have them tell me it got sold by mistake. Good-grief.

To make matters worse, there's someone (among plenty others) on ebay selling them for $80. Has sold 36 today and has 9 left. If my math is correct, he has profited almost 2 grand already.

Man this stinks, I can't afford it right now

I found the Thor 2 steelbook on Ebay yesterday that was selling for $33.99 that I purchased, the seller claimed that it was brand new, so I will see in a couple of days if it was in fact "brand new" or not.

I checked out two Best Buys at about noon and both were sold out. The one manager checked and told me the store only had two copies to start. I made the "WTF face" and went to Target. That has to be employees grabbing them and re-selling them.

My Best Buy had a few of the steelbook cases, but I decided to get the Loki cover from Target instead. Actually had to go to two Targets just to find it.

Wow, I hate to see that so many Thor fans had the same issue I had with getting the steel book. That is ridiculous. I did consider the possibility that they are just getting a small number to begin with at each store, but the display at mine was set up for several rows worth of steel books.

I think this is highly possible. But on such a large scale? I mean, almost everyone who posted here had this problem. If that is the case, Best Buy needs to change their policy about employee purchases or something.

One thing I forgot to ask was whether or not they will be getting more steel books in later, because I just assumed not. It's a moot point for me because I wasn't going to wait, but maybe someone dying for the steel book should ask that before shelling out 80 bucks or whatever on ebay.

Watching the blu-ray a couple of times already has made me realise I want little-to-NO Earth stuff in Thor 3.

I really want to see him go on a quest through the realms,we need to see a REAL Thor adventure.

There has been glimpses of the "wonder" of Thors world,I would just love a full fantasy epic where we actually SEE Thor protecting the 9 realms and not just hear about it.

P.S.They can always have some Jane-Thor stuff in Avengers 2 without it dominating his 3rd solo film.

All Hail the King...couldn't resist...just watched it.....and was done well.....explains it all in detail...no spoilers....just make sure you pick it up...its worth it.

Explains Trevor in Ironman 3, not anything to do with Thor.

Earth is going to be in Thor 3, Marvel has some strange obsession with making Darcy and her cohorts as important as possible.

Er, T:TDW ended with Thor on Earth. How could they possibly have a Thor 3 without it?
