Thoughts On The Sentry

The way youre using it, it makes it seem like youre talking down to them.

Irksome and condescending is what it is. I have little time for such postulate and potentially pejorative, statements. I was born in 1983. The Sentry was created in the year 2000. I was 17. Truth be told, I wasn't reading comic books at that time. I had stopped reading them due to various factors (disappointment with Spawn's direction, disappointment with the Clone Saga, disappointment with modern Superman Blue and Superman Red etc etc). So no, I never read his origin story. But I did read the recent mini (well the first three issues) so I am familar with the character. If you fail to recognize the common traits with the Sentry, that make him a Superman analogue, then that is your own fault. In the least, you should perhaps learn to use a dictionary. Analgous things are similar, not exact. Hyperion would be more of an immitation, not an analog.

Its good to see we have so much thoughts about this character,i decided to look for information about him myself, and i found some odd things. One fact is that the Hulk was his sidekick? And that he actually resides in a Watchtower. If this is not similar to DC then i dont know what is.I also seen him as "The Golden Guardian Of Good" i dont know if this is right either. Is this really what the Sentry is?

Yes, the Sentry lives in a tower, where he has a super computer that reminds me of Skeets (Booster Gold's mini computer). Provides him statistical data about disasters, inluding the number of deaths, the distance to the disaster, and how much time it will take him to complete the task. The computer also assess the value of one disaster, over another. If you read the recent Sentry mini, there was one disaster in one place, and a jet crashing in another place. He only had enough spare time, to decide on one to save, and he let the computer choose the "logical" option, on who to save. It's a very cold outlook on heroics.

I do not like him bc the guy has NO personality

I'm now decided and I think Sentry is cool, the concept is sound, and he justifies himself in the Marvel universe at the moment. I agree he could do with more personality, but that will come with time.

No, The Sentry had his own sidekcik, but the Hulk and him had a very neat relationship.

Funny, I thought the fact that he has a personality was what distinguished him from the Silver age Superman.

The way the Sentry was originally written, would go to show that Thor would be looking at the one sided ass kicking of a lifetime, since the Sentry is alleged to be a Galactus plus power level all his own. However, given that the Sentry is afraid to use his powers (mainly due to his own insecurities), it would be a fairly interesting fight.

Yeah im very skeptical about the validity of that Spiderman quote, as there are events even in the mini that contradict it. Barely surviving a nuke, in the X-men crossover, hardly suggestst he's on a Galactus level.
