    Happy Halloween, Guest!

TIH Sequel changes?

So I'm finally able to get onto Hulkspace via your link CJ. But I noticed there is an awful lot of crap that has been linked into Hulkspace. Viagra stuff? What's going on?

Thanks CJ, I was able to follow your link as well (from work, anyway.)

Hopefully Bruno or some other mod will clean up all the spam from the viagrabots. Seems pointless to advertise there, I always assumed that all Hulk fans were well endowed. Maybe it's just me. :cwink:

LOL. By the way, I like that avy.

Thanks, from idea to avvy in about 10 minutes!

That's faulty logic, bro. The general public doesn't know what studios expect from blue ray at the moment since the format is still in it's infancy. The sales it did last year until now could be at or beyond expectation. I still contend, and it is reasonable to believe, that the increase in blue ray sales is due to more people owning blue ray players. Prices for these players are tumbling. The same player I bought a year ago is roughly 60% of the cost. So, more players sold = more BR discs sold.

True, more BD discs are being sold this year for sure, but an increase of 72% this year, on last year, indicates to me they werent selling very well last year, so I doubt studio's made that much of a profit on them, and I mean all studio's not just Marvel.

Okay, I think we are saying different things. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the overall sales of blue ray did not contribute significantly to the individual sales of the movie. But, according to the-numbers website about TIH sales:

This was aided by unexpectedly strong Blu-ray sales for The Incredible Hulk, which sold an estimated 400,000 units in High Definition. That represents just a hair under 19% of total unit sales, which is the best ever for a day-and-date release.

And I am saying that the blue ray sales of TIH were good relative to expectation of sales.

Ah right, then we are saying different things, my point is, despite the Blu-ray sales being very good, I dont think they contributed much profit to the movie and to Marvel. If TIH were released this year, I believe the blu-ray sales would have contributed a significantly greater profit for the movie.

Now I will agree that if TIH was released this year, it probably would have had a better overall theatrical take. And, yes, since the BR format is rising in popularity, it would have provided a larger chunk of change.

I think Marvel were silly not to release it this year, only 3/4 comic book movies were released this year and i'm sure people would have been clamoring for more after all of the great ones last year. Not to mention, it wouldnt really have had much competition this year, the CGI could have been worked on, and they had a whole extra year to market it.

You guys are forgetting that Marvel had their 2009 slate planned. It was going to include Thor or Ant-Man or possibly both. You guys can't say "Marvel should have predicted the fall out of a writers strike and repositioned TIH for 2009" after the fact. Had the schedule held up, we would've gotten Thor/Ant-Man in 2009. Cap/Nicky Fury in 2010. IM2 and possibly a TIH sequel in 2011 with Avengers in 2012. Obviously things didn't work out that way.

Hollywood isn't immune to the recession either. The fact that many big films are done overseas for tax breaks and reduced spending also says a lot about the industry.

We knew long before 2008 though that Thor wasnt happening in 2009, and Marvel will have known long before us as well, so they did have the chance to change the release date.

Its not that simple. Why should they have delayed the Hulk for two more years?

^2 more years? I only think they should have delayed it until this year.

It still would have been close to TF2 so even if they did I doubt the box office would have been that much better. No guarantee Universal would have done a better job marketing it. Unless Wolverine made some kind of appearance, it probably would have done similar numbers, unless there was a breakthrough in the CGI the past year.

Well the CGI and the story would have had more time to be worked on, and these 2 aspects needed working on for me.

The story would have been fine if they didn't shred it in the editing room.

Dude every summer is stacked and crowded right now. No matter what year there would've been a lot of other big movies to deal with.

2011, I'm somewhat concerned about packing Spidey 4, Thor, and Cap all together, but we'll see.

Who would be the next villain? Will it still be Abomination or will they give him a break and bring in more baddies like bibeast or someone else? They should save teh best for last and bring Abom back in the third installment.
I personally would love to see them redeem the Hulk first in the upcoming Avengers movie before they'll do TIH2 just to play it safe.

Well that was my point, with more time to edit the movie, they may have realised the longer run-time was the way to go.

I still think it could have fit in somewere this year though, and I do think it would have made more money this year also. Iron Man was still going strong when TIH was released so that probably took a hell of a lot of money off TIH.

And Charile's Angles probably took $ away from Hulk in 03. :cwink::cwink: j/k I'm sorry Jamon but that just was to easy not to. Sorry buddy

I bet the story will follow from the end of TIH! Where Abomination was captured and probably the leader will create more hulk-like creatures(but couldn't come close). Tries to rescue Blonsky and use him once more as he amplifies his power to match that of the Hulk's. It be nice to see more hulk-like creatures slug it out with the Hulk, cars flying, building walls gets busted and more action. Abomination gets more spikes out of his skin and would look much more montrous than the first film. AND Ross still tailing Hulk as he fights the army once again(would love to see him smash a tank).

Ha ha, its okay,

:cmad:

The Leader. It's hinted at the end of the movie. Probably The Abomination as well.

I do hope they Abom comes back if they make it, and I hope he mutates more into his CB self.
