Well, I am just loving Tim Story and his blogs:

Such great news! The Thing is going to have his brow...walking around in tuxedos like in the comics. The Surfer is going to have his classic look!

Also, more confirmation that Doom will be in armor and his "new" mask...I hope it doesn't deviate from the first movie too much because that was one of things they got right. This idea of Julian being seen more scares me because i don't want Doom taken off his mask casually. The only reason I could see his mask coming off other than in battle is if he absorbs the Power Cosmic from the Surfer and fixes his face....

Perhaps a flashback to his earlier life in Latveria...?


Anyway, everything sounds, well....Fantastic!

Well you can look at this blog in 2 ways; half empty or half full. Given Tim and Hollywood's track record I'm looking at it as half empty. as such the comments he made worry me a bit.

1)The Thing.

• apparently the suit is lighter. I hope this means only in terms of weight (comfort for CHiklis) and NOT in terms of bulk or size. I hope they are not making him slimmer or anything. besides, I don't recall anyone "wishing the Thing was more agile"
• The Brow "a it's a little bigger. You guys have to remember the brow can't be too big because it just doesn't look as good as you might think,". no one is asking for the brow to be massive. we are only asking it to be the Thing's brow. so the comment strikes me as though it will be pretty much the same as before but just a little more pronounced. IOW, he won't have the classic Thing brow (which is almost seperate from the face) but rather a more pronounced brow. Well IMO, that's not good enough. They should just give us the thing's brow as it is. and I don't accept for a second that line about it not looking as good as we may think. We've seen the Thing with the proper brow before and it looked fine. That comment has me worried and a little pissed off.

DOOM

• "The new mask for Doom is awesome. There's a more evil tone to it.". what does that mean? first off, the mask was the least of Doom's problems. The costume/armor was the biggest problem. as for the mask looking evil, that also worries me. Doom's mask is Doom's mask. It looks evil only because of the character of the person wearing it. this statement strikes me as another redesign, rather than an attempt to capture the way it is SUPPOSED to look.
• "Julian will be seen". WHat! . what does that mean? the ESSENTIAL aspect of Doom is that his face is NOT seen. that the mask comes to represent his face. (it worked GREAT for V for Vendetta, why not Doom) The only way this could be ok is in a flash back scene. otherwise, this is just another proof that they simply don't know or understand the character.

SURFER:

• "Classic Surfer looks from the comic". Well that sound good. Wish he'd said THAT about Thing and Doom.

Finally the 6hr meeting with Fox officials. That has me worried more than anything else Tim said. My thinking is that even if Timm had a good vision of this film, that 6hr meeting was Fox beating away all the good and essential aspects of the FF.

anyway, that's my take on it. all I can say is for ME, if it's another FF look alike movie, I'm not seeing it in the theatre. I'd rather pop the incredibles back on and watch that.

Haha...now I'm looking forward to seeing FF:SS and Spidey 3 now. Can't wait to see what they've got in store for the Silver Surfer/Galactus. This movie could be bigger than the first, well, it damn well better be BETTER!

At least they changed the production designer from the one from Scooby Doo to the Lara Croft one. An improvement?
