I can pinpoint exactly when the movie started to lose me, and that was the tornado scene. I think I actually missed a few scenes after that because I kept thinking back to how horrible and dumb that scene was. And then it lost me more when Superman barreled into Zod while leaving his mom with the other Kryptonians, topping it off with a truly reckless gas station explosion. That scene showed reckless Superman to me much more than the Metropolis fight with Zod. In Metropolis I didn't get the sense that he had much control over where the fight was going. In Smallville he had complete control over where he was going with Zod. It never really hooked me back in after that. Right up until the tornado scene I was really loving the movie. I also hated that Zod just had to spell out in so many words that Superman led him to Earth. That is one plothole I would have actually preferred-that Zod just happened to find Earth during his exploration. The way the movie is just makes Superman ultimately the cause of all the destruction and loss of lives, even though it really wasn't his fault as he had no way of knowing what he did would lead Zod to him.
. Seriously though I don't think it's really that comparable his mom wasnt facing as definite a doom as Rachel was. He was taking a big assumption that they would leave her alone when he barreled into Zod. To tell the truth I never thought about Batman leaving the partyers with a bunch of goons because it seemed perfectly understandable that he would go save Rachel, who was in more immediate danger of dying than the partyers. I also am a much bigger Superman fan than a Batman one so I am at the same time much more critical as well as more forgiving of a Superman movie than a Batman one. If this was any other comic character I would not be as critical, maybe even not notice stuff like this because I'm just not as invested in their movies.
