Okay, so the people who disliked this movie say:

- There's too much action
- It's "too serious"
- Not enough "comedy"
- "Too much" plot
- Are mad the origin is being retold (35 years, it's about time)
- Are bitter it's not a Superman Returns follow-up

All of these "criticisms" ^^ are GOOD THINGS to me and only make me more excited for the film.

Exactly. These negative comments have me even more amped for the film. :supes:

Some of these reviews are incredibly stupid. "Too much action"- really?

I don't think their complaints are only about "too much action". The avengers whom the critics loved had plenty of action.

It's more so the balance between that action and the plot development. I think it lacking the humor that the avengers had may play a role as well.

I'll add the complaint above is a common one you'll hear for snyder films, where the plot vs action balance has had some issues.

This is one oversimplified list.

I just got back from seeing this at a free early screening. I don't know what these critics are on but this movie was PHENOMENAL! Its up there with the classic Donner film and I dare say surpasses it. I got the same feeling I got after I watched Batman Begins for the first time in theaters, fanboy goosebumps and excitement for future movies. I really couldn't find any real negative in this movie honestly. Well I take that back, I would have like to have seen him use his freeze or super breath, thats the only power we do not see him do in this movie. And some other things I will say in the spoiler thread. The cast was fantastic all around and the action is insane. If you thought the final battle in Avengers had alot of descrution, wait until you see the last 30 mins of this movie. For people that haven't seen this yet, you all are in for a hell of a ride 9/10 for me. P.S 3D isn't worth it in my opinion, I felt like I was watching a 2D movie with 3D glasses on.

Yeah, pretty much what I expected. The general audience will like it more it seems. Also the ending battle scene sounds amazing.

Also, every action scene in the Avengers is motivated by character. Is MOS'?

Just got back from an advanced 3D Screening. 8/10 for me. WB would be crazy not to build off this to start a Justice League.

That's the plan. Now it's up to the GA and the box office numbers to determine if WB can move forward and execute that plan.

I'm not saying this is you.. but...
I've been on these boards long enough to know that i've seen this as nerd adrenaline 85% of the time.

You stay on the boards six months after the movie's release when fewer people are lurking and you start seeing the same "this is greatest" go to "yeah, I saw the flaw it but I was so hyped I didn't want to admit it at the time."

It's weird stuff. Not that they hate the movie now. Just that the poster doesn't want to admit to everyone else.

Are we still having this conversation? Do people still not know how RT works?
No, I do understand how it works. Which is why I said this earlier:
I understand that the RT reviewer gets to decide if his/her review is 'fresh' or 'rotten' but I have to say it's disheartening how Man of Steel and This Is The End currently have the exact same average rating (7/10) yet Man of Steel is listed at 69% while This Is The End is at 81%. This is not to compare the two films, I just never realized how odd the RT rating system could be.
All I meant was that I think reviewers are being a bit more critical when they get to the 'fresh' or 'rotten' decision than their numerical rating as opposed to other movies.

I love Thomas. My fake British accent singing along with that theme song is pretty damn good.

He's into Star Wars a little now too. He had a Han Solo figure with a little Anakin figure, and explained, "He's with his daddy!" Sure, why not? :oldrazz:
Star Wars could do time travel. You never know. :woot:

And yep, I think I remember you mentioning the SW love thanks to the Lego games. Him and his crazy aunt are ready for Episode VII.

I've seen it 3 times now. Still love it.

What was the audience reaction?

Down with critics!

Glad I'm not the only one who actually likes the complaints the negative reviewers are making. Sounds like they wanted another Superman Returns than a good Superman movie.

The general audience has been right more times than the critics have been since the beginning of film. :cwink:

Critics have been known for panning a lot of films that are now revered as great.

"It's a Wonderful Life" for instance, critics hated that when it came out. Now it's considered a classic and one of the best films ever made.

The numerical ratings do not translate to a 10-point scale for most reviewers.

I don't understand. What happened to all the positive twitter buzz? Wasn't that from the same group of people? I don't understand how it hasn't translated...

Yea the too much action complaint is stupid to me. What do they want another boring Superman Returns movie, where he is just stalking Lois around her house for 40 mins? The plot is great as well and a special shout out to the kid that plays 13 year old Clark. He really nails the more dramatic scenes in is younger years. Also, the Dark Knight movies had very little humor and reviewers didn't complain about that. I think reviewers are tiring of the superhero genre and are looking for anything to nitpick.

Yep!! 2015, it is on.

Shawshank Redemption, too.

You know just to add a little optimism from me here, Superman Returns was praised by critics but it didn't do well enough at the Box Office, the GA disliked it, and it caused WB to reboot the franchise.

However i've seen a lot of positive reactions from people coming from advanced screenings, so this really could be a case of the GA loving it. If you ask me, I think the two things to watch out for once the weekend hits is the IMDB rating and the Box Office.

Does that mean we're going to be watching Man of Steel every Christmas? :wow:

the #1 movie this weekend is 40% on RT... GA doesn't care about RT

I'm seeing a 'Les Miserables' turn out happening if the critics keep this up. The critics hated it, yet lines were around the corner to purchase tickets and it became a smash hit and classic with critics bowing their heads and trying to act like that didn't happen at all.

I have no idea what audience wants to see a funny Superman movie with a flimsy plot and not a lot of action which is basically what the critics are calling for... to me that almost sounds like they wanted Batman & Robin. It's a serious head scratcher.
