I miss the old thread

all the posts have now vanished
Muscles, ya almost gave me a coronary!!

Don't do that man. LOL The posts are still
there. The thread will slowly lapse into obscurity, but everything that's been said can still be read.

I think Pa Kent is leaning against the counter. But even still, yes, Clark is huge there.
No doubt, the guy's a very big dude. He's got that hanging shoulder thing going on this year too, which he really didn't have in prior seasons. It makes his neck look broader at the base and adds to the width of an already pretty thick core. Combine that with Welling's almost disproportionately deep chest and the only thing missing is... well... a cape? LOL

Um... there's nothing to "get." Honestly, I don't know what's so confusing here. The manips' thread is clearly marked as such. The forum over yonder has a manips thread too and it's used for basically the same purpose: artwork and manipulations of a specific actor in costume.
This thread isn't an art thread. It's a discussion thread about Tom Welling as Superman. What's the big deal? No other (open) thread covers that topic here. Some people start threads every time a neuron misfires and they need to tell somebody about it. How many Batman-in-Smallville threads have there been? Answer: Too many. Why's that? The threads lapse off the first page and people are too lazy to see if the topic already exists. Given the topic of THIS thread, it won't spend much time off the first page. You can count on that.
Anyhoo... I posted a few screen caps and promo photos to get the ball rolling. That's the look, which Welling has in spades, but it goes deeper than that. With sincerest apologies to Gertrude Stein, there IS a there, there. It's what I call, "IT." It's an appeal and charisma that's hard to describe, but those who have "IT" are born with it. It cannot be taught, granted or imbued. You either have it, or you don't.
The fascination is definitely character based, and Welling makes learning about Clark/Superman a very entertaining experience. He's allowed us to *understand* and *relate* to the character better. Viewers can emotionally connect with Tom's version of Clark Kent, which is a pretty impressive feat considering who Clark
is. Superman isn't just some "being with powers and abilities far beyond that of mortal men, who's here to fight for truth, justice, and ... all that other stuff." LOL On SV, we've been treated to a multifaceted characterization that goes far deeper than just the dichotomy between a hero who is mild-mannered and wears glasses half the time, and suits up in a uniform in order to do good deeds the other half of the time. There's so much more to Superman than just that, and I'm enjoying every second of that learning process thanks to Tom. I look forward to seeing him finally get to play both "sides" of his character... and soon!
