Which brings you back to what most people around here think and that is Lex and Lois will know that he is Superman. Each will keep their thoughts private for different reasons. In my opinion that gives the character of Lex and Lois more substance, credibility and intelligence.

I've read Birthright, and frankly I thought Lex not knowing or even recognising Clark was unbelievable.
Really the way Pa Kent explained it says why Lex doesn't remember(Birthright). Now in the comics Lex does know Clark Kent is Superman and I find that how he is handleing things to be great. The problem goes though is Lex is to evil to let something like that go. Look at the comics when Lex found out he started attacking the people close to him. Even now he is doing so. Thats why having him know and not go off and kill the Kents or Lois or Pete or Lana is more unbelievable IMO because Lex is a killer hell when Superman died he killed a woman just to prove how much power he has. He leveled Metropolis for christ sakes to rumble. Now that he remembers who Suprman is he sent people off to kill Lois, Jimmy, and its only a matter of time before they go for a shot at the Kents. I am just saying I don't mind them not putting on the glasses I just think they need to give like some time apart before them all meeting up again. Also to your Lois knowing thing it all it would tturn out like is like how it did with Chole fun at first then boring after a while. She should find out when he tells her like how it has always been.

Yeah, it was like Lex was mind wiped but nothing happened to cause it. He just "chose" to forget everything in Smallville.

I didn't buy that either.

He didn't forget he just thinks of himself above them. So he looks at it like a very small stepping stone. Like a King back in the old days you couldn't look them in the eyes and they wouldn't do the same to you because they think your below them thats how he sees SV and Clark now.

Well that could be a plausible reason for Lex not hurting the Kents or anyone else that Superman loves. He sees them as below him and not worthy of his attention. When Clark decides to put on the uniform it will be Superman that Lex sees as his adversary and not Clark Kent.

No he sees both as an adversary. Clark for marrying the woman he loves (Lois) and Superman for well we all know the reasons why. Thats why in the comics we now have Ruin (Pete Ross at the moment)who is going around trying to hurt all the ones Superman loves. Hell he even turned Pete against Clark because Pete blames him for Lana leaving him.

They're comic book stories not Smallville. I think after Solitude we know how Lex and Lois feel about each other. They arent gonna be lovers on Smallville. Same with the Pete and Lana story.

Those were just examples meaning you see how evil Lex is thats why I say they need to pull the two of them away because if he knows who Superman is it takes away IMO from how evil Lex truely is.

So....how about those dolphins? Can't wait till they make the Superbowl again.:O :)

:D

I used to be a skins fan before I married a 9ers fan. I figured I had to convert or there'd be no living with him in the fall... ;) I'm glad the 'Skins are doing better than they had been.

I am only a skins and Raiders fan(more Raiders then skins) though I have season tickets to the Skins. Almost got into a fight when the Raiders came into town and pulled that big upset. (Mainly because I had my Raiders gear with me on the Skins fan side)

As far as Lois is concerned, we already know how she's going to handle the big picture, so the whole recognizing verses not recognizing debate should be null. I could see her playing a similar "game" with Clark, but on a more playful level. She'd have the same relationship she does now with Clark - poking fun at him every opportunity she gets. He will respond in kind. But BOTH of them would change their demeanors around each other when Superman is there. Lois will be attracted to the "super" part of Clark and his save the world type mentality (just like she was with A.C.), so she'll get all weak in the knees around Clark when he's Superman (DUH!) Clark won't know she knows it's him (he's pretty dense when it comes to that), so he'll flirt back. As Clark, he'll never admit to being attracted to Lois because of their history growing up in Smallville, but as Superman, he can be "himself" and let his true feelings be known. It'll contribute to his character reversal in Metropolis where "Clark Kent" is the facade and Superman is the real deal - a man without secrets to the world, which is something Clark wants more than anything right now.

Yeah, that is what I'd like to see. It'd be a new spin on the mythos, something SV loves to do. It would be different and entertaining. It also makes the most sense from a reality point of view because who *wouldn't* recognize Clark as Superman (or vice versa) in the "real" world? That aspect of the mythos is probably the hardest pill to swallow, more so than who and what Clark actually is.

That's an amazing explanation. The best one I've ever read about Lois. It all makes sense. It's so great to read something like this, especially from someone who really "gets" it.

^That's why Chloe will eventually be killed off..........

Pat I totally agree with you 100 %, I like that a lot . It would make sense of how Lois Lane always knew Clark Kent is SUPERMAN . :supes:

Which is just how you guys looked at him anyways. :o

What has *our* view of him now got to do with his reasoning for turning down the job five years ago?

Man, what IS it about this topic that's so difficult to understand? If Welling has any aversion to wearing the suit or flying ON SV, it's because it "goes against what we set out to do." He's said this DOZENS of times in DOZENS of interviews. In fact, there's a nod to that point in the latest EW article. He said (paraphrasing), "as long as they keep to the original plan, there's no telling how long the show could go." Read between the lines of that quote and you'll understand the big picture here. Clearly, Welling likes playing Clark. Why? Cause Clark doesn't have all the answers. Clark is still learning, so there's plenty of character development open to HIS interpretation.

Look at it from an actor's POV. It aint that hard. TW has been giving an opportunity that few other actors have had: the chance to reimage and mold one of the greatest fictional American icons from the ground up. It's more fun to start from scratch than it is to duplicate what somebody else did - and did well.

I really don't care what he says on camera...
So we shouldn't believe what he says publicly? How 'bout the comments made by a certain film director about his casting choices? C'mon Milkman! We've got to hang our hats on something, and unsubstantiated rumor and heresay ain't a good place to start. Listen to what people actually say. Read between the lines if you want (I do), but I think we need to take things at face value first before boarding the train to assumption junction.

I just happen to have two quotes handy [Pat waves hi to the forwardee], and since the *other* thread was closed, I'm just gonna repost 'em for posterity...

Dreamwatch, #127, April 2005
"Flyboy" (The title of the article just Cracks. Me. Up! LOL)
by Robert Falconer

"There were so many rumors out there, and it's the kind of situation where if you speak about it you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd rather be damned if I don't. I've even had the rumors reach the set. People came to me to say, 'Is this true?' or 'Is that true?' I tend to just let the snowball go... then get out of the way."

SFX, #123, November 2004
"Is Smallville's Superman going to transform into the big screen's Man of Steel?
by Thomasina Gibson

"Well, I have been approached, but that's all I can say on the matter," he grins, a twinkle in his eyes, and refused to say more...

That will be all PC and not the entire truth and you know it. There's a lot more to it, come on.........
Indeed. There will ALWAYS be details left unspoken.

Sorry, NOTHING is incorrect at this point. Again, do you actually think TW is going to describe everything that happened during his casting process and his likes and dislikes to the public? NO.
Of course not. He's a smart cookie. He KNOWS when to shut his trap about these things. He's not about to burn any bridges with past, present, or potential future employers.

Agreed, but isn't that the main focus of any "superhero" character?
What is? Character development? It should be the focus of ANY character. Some just have more to "develop" than others.

For example, I'm more interested in the psychological make-up of Bruce Wayne than seeing him in the actual suit.........
Did you audition for Nolan?

Well, I guess it matters what your own personal definition of Superman is.........I stand by my quote until proven otherwise.........
There's "definitions" and there's "preferences." Defining a comic book character is pretty haphazard since there's so many interpretations to reference. I can tell you what I prefer and what I don't... but sheeeit, you already know my feelings on that, doncha? :p
