This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]496771[/split]
It isn't only the critics, the public hate the movie in France at least:I'm disappointed that the film is being torn apart by the critics. Its pretty embarrassing that it will be the worst reviewed Marvel film since Elektra. The first hour of the film wasn't even that bad and a lot of people here (who already saw it) said the same thing.
I hear you but the first hour is only a part of the film. That's like me saying Charles Manson was the sweetest child ever so on Judgement day does that mean he gets into Heaven? I know, that was an extreme example but the total package is what the consumer is looking at, not just the first 5 minutes.
Based on the sweeping comments regarding the fundamental issues of this film in relation to story structure, inconsistencies in effects, and short run time, I don't see the rotten tomato score recovering to give it a final rating that is remotely respectable. Clearly the film has issues that far outweigh the normal measures one might contribute to subjective points of view. So it appears the only thing left to do is sit back and watch the slow motion train wreck.
The one consideration left to reflect upon is how much will this impact the weekend tracking that originally had it grossing somewhere in the mid 40's. If these incredibly bad reviews make more buzz than the trailers, should we throw out those numbers and consider something less? Or is that a front loaded number that is essentially critic proof?
The opening projections did not consider the possibility of poor wom. Even if this thing manages a good Friday total, it could conceivably tumble by Saturday, which will put a damper on it. Many people go and check out a film at the last minute. Word from acquaintances, relatives, friends, etc will spread about the film, and it may very well die off before the end of the weekend.
Audience in large were already either apathetic or unaware about this film. These reviews will be the final straw on whether they should check it out. Word is already spreading.
For a good comparison, Pixels was projected at 57m opening weekend, only did 24m. We may be seeing something very similar.
I've seen a lot of bad films that didn't even have a strong first half to get a RT rating higher than 20%. So 11% for a film that had a decent 1st half (62 minutes to be exact) is pretty bad.

Given what we've heard about the production of this movie, such as reshoots and turmoils behind the scene, it's no wonder that this movie has some serious problems, and it translates the result to the screen. Critics who saw the movie took notice, and soon the audience will too.
Two more added to RT, looks like it will be at 10% when it updates.
By my calculation it is under 10% now

Green Lantern is the only thing that comes to mind, but even then that was hanging in the 40-30% I believe. When was the last time a CBM did this bad on here before the opening Friday ?
