Too Much Geek

What about getting angry-I mean pissed off to the point of near violence-when someone criticizes a character, movie or comic that you like?

There is no such thing as "too much geek", brothers and sisters. Is there such a thing as loving life too much? Is there such a thing as loving a certain food too much? Is there such a thing as loving oneself too much? SuperFerret says no, and SuperFerret sets an example for others to follow.

Way I see it you can geek out as much as you want but only when it's a good time. Like don't turn up to a wedding dressed as Ghost Rider or whatever. There's a time and place for everything.

You can put all kinds of posters up in your room if you live with your parents or have a room in a flat with someone, but once you get a proper place you don't put all that stuff up. You keep it kinda hidden, with only a few things kicking around.

Then I guess there's something wrong with me, because I have posters around my apartment.

That Ghost Rider comment was eerily specific. Something you're not telling us?

Up to you. I'm not saying thats what you should or shouldn't do, just what I'd do.

Those are my own personal misjudged attempts and I'll keep them to myself thank you...

id agree to an extent, i always said once i could afford my own place, 99% of my geek stuff. busts lithographs, tpbs, toys would all go in my studio/study

the only thing i would have out is maybe some framed classic film posters.

though i guess the content is subjective, i mean i own two of the dc cover girls adam hughes statues. zatanna and harley. the harley to me is extremely comic book, where as the zatanna could easily pass as a standard statue if people didn't know the character connections

There are a lot of nerdy things I wouldn't do but not because of shame. I wouldn't wait in a movie line for days because I don't like the outdoors. I wouldn't dress up in a costume for a Con because it would be too hot. I wouldn't get a super hero tat because I don't want to pay for it.

Yet even though I'm a Hype dinosaur (edging close to 40), I still read lots of comics, have an action figure collection, I had lightsaber props at my wedding, and I just authored a book with comic book style characters. All of that adds up to a black belt in Nerd Fu. I readily admit that.

Heh. Reminds me of when I first joined this site and Matrix 2 was out. There was some member on here who swore it was a cinematic masterpiece (his words) and anyone who felt different would catch all kinds of hell :awesome:

This is too much geek

A dynamic duo are thought to have flown into the record books by changing their names to mark their love of superheroes.

The names, now thought be the world's longest, were the brainchild of best friends Kelvin Borbidge, 22, and Daniel Knox-Hewson, 23, both from Nottingham.

The duo changed their names to Emperor Spiderman Gandalf Wolverine Skywalker Optimus Prime Goku Sonic Xavier Ryu Cloud Superman HeMan Batman Thrash and Baron Venom Balrog Sabretooth Vader Megatron Vegeta Robotnik Magneto Bison Sephiroth Lex Luthor Skeletor Joker Grind.

The pair changed their names with the Legal Deed Poll Service for £10 each earlier this week, and knocked 19-year-old George Garratt off the top spot for the longest moniker in the UK after he changed his name to Captain Fantastic Faster than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk and the Flash Combined.

Emperor Thrash, formerly Mr Knox-Hewson, said: "We decided to change our names because we were bored of our day-to-day lives and wanted to do something that reflected our true personalities. We couldn't believe how easy it was to do, we just had to fill in a few forms and we were granted superhero status.

"The first name and surname were to simply put my awesomeness into words. I then combined the names of all the greatest heroes known to man and added them as my middle names to show that I am super-serious. We have truly blown George Garratt's name out of the water."

Baron Grind, formerly Kelvin Borbidge, said he enjoyed telling his colleagues at the pub where he works about his new title .

He said: "The look on my area manager's face when he asked why my till now said 'Baron' was priceless. Our families were shocked and thought that we were crazy.

"At this moment in time, I am looking forward to changing my name on my bank card, I wonder how they will fit it all on."

Tina Clough from the Legal Deed Poll Service said: "We receive many crazy name changes, but these are the longest names on record that we have processed to date. Many customers are surprised how easy and quick the process is and it is a fantastic conversation starter."

Two less men for women to worry about in Nottingham.

I have gone to midnight showings of certain movies & have waited maybe 1-2 hours for tickets, but i've never done the whole camping out thing. That's a little overboard for me. I do wear hero t-shirts quite a bit, but probably would'nt dress up in costume. I do have my room littered with collectibles & stuff. I don't play D&D or any of the RPG card games.

Atleast these two have not taken up actual crime fighting which is a good idea as Nottingham is the of the gun crime capital of the UK and they would get their heads blown off in two seconds flat

I'm thinking of changing my name to Yakko United States Canada Mexico Panama Haiti Jamaica Peru Warner.

I'm a fan of wrestling but won't wear the t-shirts. Especially one that actually has the half naked wrestler on it. I won't wear UFC gear either because it looks tacky/corny to me.

I'll stand in line for a movie if it's a couple hours before but you couldn't pay me to camp out there.

I'd dress up for comic-con , that would be fun , but not at the movie theater or anywhere else (unless it's halloween). I went to see Prince of Persia and there was a group dressed up for it. Prince of Persia.

I won't do any of the Magic card games. There's a comic store nearby loaded with kids and adults playing it. It looks like they are having a good time so more power to them but that's just not for me. I can't get into role playing games.

Also , wouldn't change my middle name to megatron

No nerd clothing.
No dressing up, for a con or movie.
No role playing or card collecting.

things are only too geeky when you lose contact with the real world....
