Okay, I just caught "Meat." I have some thoughts...
Wow. There really are no consequences for any of Gwen's actions, are there? Cheating on her boyfriend? Drugged him. Getting killed by Billis? Nothing a wacky time rift can't reverse. Been lying about her job for about a year? She told him, and he ended up trying to help. Getting shot? Hell, he survived that. He didn't even get retconned at the end of the episode.
Of course, I actually support Rhys not being given any retcon. Torchwood's stance on drugging every other person they interact with is ridiculous. It's not like there aren't already a ton of people who know things on Earth have gone wacky. About a third of the population were blood-controlled a few years back. London gets invaded every Christmas. Everyone on Earth was regularly interacting with "ghosts" in the streets for months on end, only for said ghosts to turn into robots. Britain's most recent Prime Minister announced an alliance with an alien species, practically confessed to not being human on TV, told his alien friends to kill the US President, and announced the ushering of the end of the world before his broadcast was quickly cut off.
But now Rhys, who was simply in denial, believes in aliens. Sure, Jack. Let's drug him. It's not like there's a Torchwood operative living with him, who can keep him in check. As much as I'm really hating Gwen, I'm glad she stood up for Rhys keeping his memories. Even if he is kind of an idiot.
