Honestly, as I was watching "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang" and the upcoming episodes previews, I really got the impression that Torchwood has become an intentional spoof of itself. The preview where Owen says "The world's ending - let's all have sex with each other!" is total self-mockery of the show itself.

If Torchwood becomes more tongue-in-cheek (pun not intended), perhaps it might be easier to overlook the ridiculousness. I really hope the silliness doesn't continue bleeding over to Doctor Who, however.

Indeed the dark edge of the new season that premiered Chris Eccleson was the tone that struck a cord and made me watch in the first place. Now they are a little off base.

As the T-1000 proved having swords for arms are awesome!
Not so awesome when you can't control them. Ianto's little jokes about heads exploding and him clowing around in the chair where funny.

Surprise Suprise Gwen gets herself in a postion where her life is in danger again. She will never learn. I really hoped sleeper agent would cut her head off.

Also is it just me or is everyone really trigger happy this series. Anything happens and guns are drwan out at the ready. The alien body counts gonna be damn high this year and last week no one said anything about Captain John killing that guy. Apperantley they don't care

Ianto has been good this season, last nights episode he was funny with his little jokes and all.

But yeah Gwen can be annoying. I didn't like the thing on your arm freaked me out!

Don't forget all the Army people the Alien killed as well - more humans there
I did laugh at the chav alien who let the baby pram go into the road, silly chav lol.

But I wonder if we will see these things again.

I really liked the episode "Sleeper" and I really felt sorry for Beth (and didn't want her to die,) but am I the only one who thought it was a lot like season 5 of Buffy with the whole Dawn thing, especially when they said about building memories.

Because the Primeeval team actully like each other and even when they are having affairs they feel guilty about it.

In Torchwood they all cheat on each other and are generally less likable individuals because they seem to not care very much about civilians where as Primeval do.

That said if it came down to a fight between the two teams Torchwood would kick their asses. Captain Jack can't die so that alone gives them a huge advantage.

Maybe I'm just being a biased American here, but I have to say that I don't think that Torchwood succeeds in trying to make its characters look "badass".

Case in point - the initial meeting and fight between Capt Jack and Capt John. I realize that when the Blur song came on and they started throwing punches, I was supposed to be impressed, but I just found myself laughing at the whole thing. Despite their apparent disregard for civilian casualties, I just can't see the Torchwood team as being badass.

It has nothing to do with you being American, I am English (well sort of) and I thought the kiss fight thing was dumb and I honestly don't think any of the following can be "badass"

1. someone from wales
2. a horny pretty boy (well 40 year old)
3. a male secretary
4. a really dumb (and ugly) doctor
5. a short lovesick tech wizard girl

and yet wierdly I like most of the characters, I just dont find them particularly "badass", although in fairness most the characters arent supposed to be.
