Carnivale was good, but nobody watched the darn show.
I didn't get to see that show when it was on tv (what network/cable channel was it on?) but I saw it on DVD. Darn good show. It's like... it sucks when they (stupid FOX!) cancelled Firefly. SCIFI should've picked up that series.

TV Networks don't get it yet:

Unique, different, & highly interesting shows = get cancelled

Good & most of the time overhyped shows = super popular

Good but underestimated shows = get mediocre ratings & get a few series

reality shows = destined for success

s*** shows = hit or miss

Firefly is AWESOME, fits the first category above :D

Fox cancels more decent shows than any over network I reckon. Its like when Family Guy came back on air and peter listed all the shows that had been cancelled by Fox since they where off air.

We have a Nielsen office right near where my office is, a friend of mine works there....the whole rating system is pure numbers....regardless of how good or critically acclaimed a show is, if no one watches it is going to get the boot. American Idol can do anywhere from 15-24 million viewers....has any sci-fi show ever had numbers like that??

Shows I want back from FOX (FUX), Firefly, Space Above & Beyond, X-Files, The Tick, Angel, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Dark Angel, Arrested Development, Drive, The O.C., & Futurama, oh wait Comedy Central revived Futurama.

Lost gets pretty high numbers. Heroes, too.

Space Above & Beyond I remember that. That was a good show. The X-Files got kind lame towards the end so I'm fine with that being cancelled, Plus it got 2 spin off movies anyway.

In 2007 alone FOX cancelled:
Drive
The O.C.
Vanished
The Loop
Happy Hour
Standoff
The War At Home
The Wedding Bells
The Winner

X-Files kind of ended on its own terms....Gillian Anderson is happy over in London and Duchovny likes doing weird indie movies. FOX bought back Family Guy out of pure greed, they saw the ratings it pulled for adult swim and the ton of money that the DVD's made...and its also a relatively cheap show to produce as opposed to a sitcom or hour long show...

Dexter is better than both Lost and Heroes in my opinion. Season 2 was awesome!

Yeah, Dexter's great. It's not really sci fi, though.

It's superhero fiction in my opinion. He has a secret identity which is mild mannered and hides a secret. He even has an origin story and a mentor who taught him to use his "powers" for good.

:)

That's an odd interpretation of it, but I guess it works. Still, not even all superheroes are science fiction.

True, when the "dark passenger" arrives you'll be saying, "hey Whirly you god"!
Think about the "Dark Avenger"

off to the pub ;)

So I got around to watching my torrent of the Torchwood finale...
Meh, it was OK. Much better than the previous couple eps had been.

So [blackout]Grey[/blackout] turns out to be an evil psycho - big surprise.

I really didn't buy the whole thing with Jack being buried from 27 AD until 1901, because A) constantly suffocating for 1874 years would have most likely driven him insane, and B) his clothes would have rotted away instead of looking good as new when the 1901 Torchwood folk dug him up.

There's going to have to be some future storyline where someone (the Doctor maybe) dug up Jack shortly after he was buried and then took him to 1901, wiped his memory and reburied him.

I hated the [blackout]Gray[/blackout] thing. I really hate long-lost relative stories when the relative in question returns only to be pissed at the protagonist for some stupid reason.

I honestly think this show would have been better if Toshiko Sato was the main female character, from the final episodes it's clear Naoko Mori is much a much better actress than Eve Myles and probably the best actress/actor on the show. I never really found Eve Myles character (Gwen) all that likable and when you see her face close up, she's actually pretty ugly. I found Naoko's character alot more likable as person, one of the few as a matter of fact.

Was I the only one which loved Tosh & Owen the most out of all the cast by the end of the 1st season.

Well, you're certainly not the only one who loved Tosh.

well Mori is leaving to go back to theater...god knows why(it seems like a pay cut as well)

He was too damn bland for the villian or the last episode. He should have been played a more psychotic and should have had his face scared or something.

but hey James Masters was still great as the kinda villian up & until ****** showed up and that was good enough for me.
