I just came from seen it, and it was a pretty enjoyable film if you don't compare it to the original. But even then you have to admit that almost all the roles that Arnold played can not be payed by anyone but Ah-Nold. All in all a pretty solid flick on its own.

who exactly wins the fight between Biel vs Beckinsale? Is it as good as they make it out in the trailers and in the news...

Does jessica biel show off her buff arms or body by any chance? I hope she beats the beckinsale's ass

I already knew this wasn't a shot for shot remake of Arnold's classic or that any of the corny one-liners would be in the movie but damn at least the writers could've added some humor to level out the seriousness of the film.

I'm not making comparisons to the 1990 film but only on the film itself and if it's any indication from my audience who were totally quiet during the whole movie not even a clap at the end is that the movie is bad that it should've been called Total Boredom.

Not for a second did I care what would happen to Quiad and the action scenes played out too long to pad out the films running time, yep this movie is garbage and should be avoided at all costs and it's too bad too because all the actors (Farrel, Biel, Beckinsale, Cranston) are good in other movies.

I'm giving this turd 1 out of 5 stars and that's being generous because at least Jessica and Kate were kicking butts.

I also noted the nods to Verhoeven's classic like the [blackout]chick with the 3 knockers[/blackout] and the [blackout]red haired women in yellow dress[/blackout] at the airport.

Does the [blackout]3 boobed chick meet the same fate she did in the Arnold flick[/blackout]?

I've haven't seen the the remake yet. I'm rooting for it.

But it hit me the other day how bothered I am by that line the trailer, so prominent in the advertisements, "I give good wife." This line bothers me for two reasons. One, it just feels so written. I haven't seen it in context, but I already don't buy it. It just rings as false. Then you follow it with an image plastered all over the advertising of Beckinsale hitting Colin Farrell in the face with her crotch, and that brings me to point two: it makes me feel icky. "Look at this hot woman. God damn it, isn't she hot? And she mentions 'I gives good "fill in the blank!"' It just feels so base and crass. It bypasses my male instinct of crumbling to a beautiful woman suggesting she'll give me good "fill in the blank," and it feels cheap.

I thought the live sets were great, good atmosphere. The problem with the movie for me was I think they tried to jam too much into it. Going from live to cgi backgrounds constantly gets annoying.

Biel vs Beckinsale could have been classic, but of course the fast cuts and awkward camera angles ruined it for me.

That line sounds awful. I'm not sure if I'll see this in theatres. The action looks incredible but the story sounds exactly the same minus being on Mars.

Yeah the "I give good wife" line was really weird sounding.

Nope she just has the one little scene for no apparent reason than to satisfy the needs of horny teenagers then she's never seen again.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who cringes at that "wife" line in the trailer. I think that it's positively desperate to be honest. They don't write one liners the way they used to.

And who told you? Me. Wiseman and Wimmer. Nothing good can come out of this (Yes, Equilibrium was awful).

But just out of interest

Is there some sort of face changing device in this, like you could see from the trailer?

Told who what? most seem to have enjoyed the film whether critics did or not, quit trolling.

true but this film is what we expected from wiseman nice action scene but not much else under a different direction it could of been something more ambitious and interesting

I actually enjoyed the ".......give good wife" line. Hugh fan of the original, planning on seeing this on dvd or when it comes OnDemand.

I'm sure this has been said but, if they had made this movie on mars, people would be having a field day on the subject of "same movie syndrome" we've been getting a few times this year.

It comes out on August 16th in Germany. Still not sure if I am going to pay 13 Euro to see this. I am not exactly eager to see this. Might as well wait for the BluRay to rent.

I think it sounds pretty bad too. Apparently, one thing she doesn't give is good lines...

Yup, they had a device. At first they had a lady who looked liked Arnolds disguise walk thru and I thought okay, thats paying tribute, but......nope..

First off, I passed out during the movie a few times, don't remember much towards end until credits rolled,lol...Not that the movie was bad I just changed work schedules and still trying to adapt.
I did love Kate Beckinsale of what I saw she was a totall bad ass and the fight scenes that I did see were good. Did love the scenery, had that Minority Report feel to it etc...I'll have to see it again when I'm more awake!!

how come Wiseman only directed 4 movies in 9 years?

This was actually one of the worst movies i've ever seen in theaters. The movie can't make you care less about the characters or the plot. The acting is terrible and consists of kate beckinsale doing a glare walk behind robots mostly and colin ferell doing his best confused tom cruise look. The whole look of the film looks like it was ripped off every dystopia future film from blade runner to avatar than watered down.

The highlight of the film consisted of a scene involving a woman and a very interesting prosthetic. I actually wish there was a total rekal where my fantasy would be me not having seen this film.

This is not a bad movie, but there is certainly not alot of originality in the film. I mean it pretty much plays out exactly like the Arnold movie, barring the absence of Mars. So there really is nothing that seems surprising or suspenseful. Maybe it would be different to those who haven't seen the original.

Visually it looked like a mish mash of Minority Report, the Fifth Element, and Blade Runner. There was nothing really unique to set the film apart from other films in the genre. The robot space cops looked like they were robbed from Star Wars, and visually the film was grey and dull.

However I have to say that despite all this, I actually enjoyed the film. Primarily because of Colin Farrel who actually made Doug Quaid into a character. I love Arnold's movies as much as the next person, but he's not a character actor and never has been. He's the Austrian John Wayne where he just inserts his personality into whatever current roll he happens to be in. There is no difference between Doug Quaid and his characters from Running Man, Predator or Last Action Hero.

I thought Farrel did a great job at bringing out the hart of what Philip K. Dick's short story was really about. However the script writers failed in the final scene to really bring about the question of, "is this real, or not".

But this is not a bad film at all, overall I'd give it 7/10. I preferred this much more than Prometheus which I think raised some interesting questions, but ultimately failed as a disappointment as an entry in the Alien saga.

I couldn't find Ferrell more bland, i'm not even a big original total recall fan but arnold made that film. His catch phrases his over the top acting the over the top action.

This film was like a b movie that tried to play itself out like it was high drama. I never got the sense that the question of what was real or wasn't was played up. Instead we became immersed in some plot about revolution and bringing down a corrupt leader who you never really feel anything towards.

Again the acting was just terrible biel and beckinsale were sleep walking through their lines and don't get me started on quaid's friend doing a bad dave chappelle impersonation ugh...the problem is now no film wants to embrace being a b-film and they all want to be the matrix or inception when they are nowhere near that.

It's great that someone got a little enjoyment out of it but i was just stunned by how poor it was i think my theatre was as well. It was near a full house and it was the quietest response and exit i've ever heard to a films ending.

This was better than the Schwarzenegger classic in every single way possible! And to be fair, I'm usually against remakes and I thought Conan The Barbarian from last year was a POS film.

Anyway, better acting, a well known cast, awesome special effects, a "realistic" take of the story so not that many cheesy one liners or mutants, and terrific fight scenes.

Unfortunately, nostalgia, professional movie critics, and the overrated Rotten Tomatoes.com restrict people from watching and/or enjoying good movies.
