True Blood - Part 4

Glad I'm not the only one! :P Are you in the UK too?
Nope, I'm a Yank. Just going to watch Ray Donovan and the Strain first. The TB finale is running long so I had to change my order of shows so I can get them all in. :)

"You are entitled to what you want, Sookie" - Gran Stackhouse, during this episode's flashback

Now we know the reason why Sookie is selfish and insufferable. :p

Oh jeez, the Hep V is gonna turn Bill human, isn't it?

The last few seasons have been a mess but I think they ended the show fairly well.

The way things ended was fitting. Bill needed to die; I think it would have been BS if he and Sookie had been endgame after all he did to her. He paid the price for what he did. He finally did something selfless for her. Good.

Eric and Pam remain flawless. They (Eric, Pam, and Ginger) were easily the saving graces of this season. Eric grooving in the car after some fun carnage was hilarious and easily my favorite part of the episode.

I guess it's nice that Jessica and Hoyt married. That scene didn't need to drag out as much as it did, though.

I hate that we got nothing from Lafayette in this episode. Sure, he was at the dinner table at the end, but ... What the heck, True Blood? Booooo.

I still maintain that the writers did Tara wrong by killing her. God, that was so bad. It would have been actually really nice to see her and Sookie sitting at that dinner table together, being happy BFFs.

I wouldn't say that I'm overjoyed about the final episode, but the series of events that took place made sense after the messes that the writers created for the show prior to the finale. Bill is dead, and Eric and Pam are awesome ... That's all that was really needed after everything.

I just read the review for the finale and this it still had dumb things that don't really make sense.

So Bill dies to save Sookie from having a dead end life with him. Yet he is okay with Jessica marrying a human Hoyt. They are gonna have the same issues he was trying to save Sookie from! Totally dumb

Well at least HBO now has a free slot for a much better show now.

I'm watching it now and I'm just here to post my weekly comment that Bill bores me.

It was disappointing for the most part. They seriously could've condensed it down to 20mins and still got most of what they gave us.

While they basically finished everything up, it just wasn't satisfying. It felt like a show that just found out it would be the last season half way through the season.

The fact that we spent so much time on Sookie/Bill, Jessica/Hoyt, even Jason/New girl was a bit stupid. Lafeyette did NOTHING and we saw him for a brief second smiling.

The only real thing that was enjoyable was watching Bill finally die and Pam/Eric.

They couldn't really think of anything this season that would bring everyone together in the end before going their separate ways again?

I was sitting there during that whole wedding scene (which I really thought was going to end the show, it seemed to take so long) thinking, "where the fark is Lafayette? Seriously? No one could call him and tell him to drive over?" That was basically TB in a nutshell this last 2-3 seasons: ish happens, and it really has no rhyme or reason.

The fast-forward, happy-ending for all just felt false for this show. Like, really, EVERYBODY got a happy ending (except Sarah, which I guess was suppose to be catharsis for the audience)? In Bon Temps? Come on... All the couples are still couples, Sookie's preggo (w/mystery dude's baby, cause we didn't bother to seed that relationship earlier or higher an actual actor), and all we get is a cameo from Lala and James?

Just... dayum, TB. You had 10 eps and you basically squandered 7 or 8 of 'em on some BS (Yakuza storyline? Oh no worries we'll wrap that up real quick). Never has a show so aimlessly headed for the finish and pretty much stuck the landing it seemed to be going for, which was lackluster. To Jason, Pam, Eric, and Lala, y'all deserved better. Sookie deserved nada...

S6 finale would've served as a more enjoyable Series finale tbh.

"I mostly just read the parts that were about me."

"Breastfeeding would be a *****"

:-)

I really liked the finale. I feel like it was a great way to close the show with Sookie getting to live a happy, "normal life". I also think this was one of the best seasons of the show. Though the show went down some pretty extreme paths, it managed to get back to a place of normalcy and peace in large part, which is what any good story should do.

I look forward to many viewings of this entire show from start to finish throughout my life (an honor I once thought LOST would have if not for the way it ended).

Goodbye True Blood!

Best part of the episode? Them playing Maison Creole by CC Adcock, one of my favorite songs. The rest? Boring. :(

The epilogue endings were more fun than the cemetary scene, and I like that Jason ended up with the blonde.

They went with the happy ending just like Being Human.

Glad it's over though. :yay:

Wait, did they really kill Bill? If so, I might have to watch.

One question, is Eric alive, and as badass as he should be at the end?

I thought because of the mix of Sookie's fairy blood and the hep v that Bill was turning into a human. As soon as Sookie read his thoughts I thought that is where they were leading the story. I would have been satisfied with that

Yup, the show does indeed kill Bill. :)

As for Eric, he lives, and is as badass as he should be. He gets some really good parts at the beginning and at the epilogue.

I just saw Eric rock out in his car. I am statisfied. :awesome:

And Bill's death is hilariously bad. It is a microcosm of why this show got so bad. Hideously written, overlong, and completely drained of any emotion. Eric's scenes on the other hand, short, sweet and they get the joke. Yeah, I still love Eric.

I thought the finale a was fitting. There were some parts that dragged on but they were important for different reasons. Building blocks for what is to come later. Sookie who thought being a fairy would always hamper any normal relationship she could ever be in. Finally accepted herself that took seven years to occur but sometimes it takes longer for some folks.

Besides the Eric/Pam scenes, it was terrible. My wife and I just sat there the whole time repeating "this is the dumbest **** I have ever seen," and then every few minutes basically just yell at the screen to cut back to whatever Eric was doing. Another half hour of just him in the car would have been better than what we got.

If not for Entourage, that might have been the worst series finale I've ever sat through. It's almost like HBO has a rule that no series finales can be good (this, Entourage, Sopranos).

Can we just all agree that not every series finale needs a wedding?

No they aren't. Hoyt isn't a fairy like Sookie is. Were you not listening to Bill and Eric's conversation in last weeks episode? Sookie, who is a fairy, is attracted to the darkness in Bill. She can't help herself. And Bill is attracted to her light. He knows that his darkness will crush her light and that he can't give her what he knows she wants and needs. And as long as he is alive she can never move on from him.

Hoyt and Jessica are entirely different.

It seems this finale is going to be divisive like most finales. I personally thought it was great. Heartfelt, sweet, and funny. The most competent and coherent episode that True Blood has delivered in a very long time.

So, if Sookie ended up with random faceless guy, what was the point of Alcide dying? I mean couldn't he have given her a normal life? Seemed pointless....or I guess just as pointless as everything else but slightly more so.

We needed a on-screen shocker death. Since Tara wasn't worthy of dying on screen.
