Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

The only thing I want to see hurt Thor badly or nearly kill him is Ultron. But Vision should definitely be able to hurt him a bit, I don't know about the drones.
I agree, however I do want Thor to be shown putting Ultron on his heals at times as well..
Ulton true threat is his Intelect, invulnerability and ability to move from one body to the next..He should still be a bit perplexed when battling a Asgardian of Thor's stature one on one....

Looking at he clip of Thor saying 'is that the best you can do?'

It looks like Thor is the worse for wear with a couple of cuts, Tony's armor isn't damaged, Cap looks tired but fine, Hulk looks fine, and the other clip where you can see Hawkeye and Widow they look ok as well.

So I imagine Thor takes the brunt of Ultrons attack at some point, makes sense, him and Hulk should be protecting the others from just being immediately killed.

It looked great from what we saw of it in Thor. I actually think he looks more out of place without it.

Personal preference can always go different ways, but when looking at the more objective points they might feel that it makes his head too large, making Hemsworth seem even smaller compared to the comic Thor. And then there's the practical part of holding the helmet perfectly in place in action scenes, since it looks ridiculous if it moves around.

I think those are the kind of things they've been looking at.

It's annoying that there's this 'need' to see the actors' full faces all the time. Filmmakers and actors could learn a lot from Dredd and Karl Urban.

Maybe Thor will wear the helmet in Infinity War. It will be interesting to see what the Russos go with.

Sounds pretty subjective to me :oldrazz:

IIRC, I heard another major reason they ditched it in the first Thor was it kept falling forward and nailing Hemsworth in the nose when he tried to test it during action scenes, so they said "f' it"

and while they could keep working on the helmet to make it sit and look better on him(as they did with Loki's), at this point the movie audiences are used to him without it, so it may seem weird to non-comic fans to see it reappear after like 5 seconds at the beginning of the first film

I jumbled that up a bit when I edited a part out, but it is objective that his head gets larger, making the headsize vs bodysize even further from the comic version. The notion about if it's negative or not was originally meant to be written separately.

I know dude. I'm just picking apart you're sentences and just messing with you :oldrazz: I got the point you were making, and it's not a fallacy.

Of course it makes his head bigger, just like it makes Thor bigger in the comics.
To me, as a Thor fan, that helmet is such an iconic part of his appearance, and height that it being "big" on screen would just add to the experience. To me, the MCU Thor will always be physically lacking the part without the helmet. Since I was young...helmet with wings, and hammer. That's Thor.

I believe that if they wanted to, they coulda worked it out.

That was always pretty weird to me, since Thor is far more durable than IM & Cap. It only makes sense to assume Thor takes on Ultron himself or something prior to that shot.

I feel pretty much the same way, especially the last sentence. It is what it is though.

So, am I the only one who fears Thor will become unworthy for some reason in this movie?

He won't, if anything, he'll become more powerful, or on the verge of becoming more powerful than Odin

There's two reasons it's possible he loses worthiness or someone else picks it up, the party scene isn't just a throwaway scene, and the shot of Mjolnir falling to the ground and bouncing isn't how Mjolnir works when Thor is in control.

I really think both Cap's shield breaking and Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, dropping are both dream sequences caused by Scarlett Witch.

Caps shield yes, but Mjolnir dropping clearly happens in the location of the final battle.

I am so curious as too how they'll defeat Ultron. So many possible ways. They could go the Vision route, have Stark or Banner hack into him, give Captain America Thor's hammer and have him take on Ultron in the most inspirational battle ever.

the only thing I dont like is seeing the cuts on Thors face. I have seen some scans of the comics recently and Thors durability is up among the best. Unless he is taking the brunt of an attack that would wipe out say a city block or more I have problems with Thor showing any wear like that. In the battle with Iron Man in Avengers 1 the worst that happened to Thor is his hair got messed up and he got a little dirty.

Well think of it like this Ultron Prime(remember he is coated in Vibranium, a substance that even his mighty hammer Mjolnir could not break)>The Entire Chitauri Army.

Him alone is more than even the Mightiest of the Avengers can handle. So Thor is going to have some serious trouble, even being a god like he is.

i could be mistaken but hulk looks a tad scuffed too. both thor and hulk can take the punishment so i think its ok they're a bit roughed up. they don't need a shield to cover their face or wear a helmet so i think it makes sense.

Yeah, I'm thinking/hoping that Thor and Hulk take the brunt of some pretty brutal attacks. Possibly even take one for the team, because Widow and Hawkeye should be feeling particularly squishy against Ultron and they'll absolutely need someone to "tank" for them.

I think something happens that makes Thor drops Mjolnir. Something emotional, like when someone drops a glass when they hear bad news.

Quicksilver dying?

That's what I'm thinking as well but it could also be Ultron's death. Especially if it's a big explosion. Could also just be Ultron's army.
