Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

I get that he wanted the lights go out because he thought the universe should never have been and wanted to return to a dark state. My complaint was that there approximately 100 billion galaxies in our light cone, so my ability to suspend disbelief was destroyed.

Now if instead Malekith wanted to extinguish the Earth's sun for some dark reason, then fine. But the entire universe? There is a line beyond which the plot becomes ridiculous.

Also, Malekith was a truly universal threat, but only Thor, Jane and friends were trying to stop him? Nobody else (powerful) in the entire cosmos cares?

You have beings that predate the Big Bang. They liked things the way they were. What do they care about 100 billion galaxies? Obviously not on their agenda.

And it's not that nobody else cared. Malekith's plan wasn't known until the very end when Thor and his companions had eight minutes to stop him. No time to call in the Avengers. So Thor took care of business.

And yes I thought Thor stole the show..Loved the lego moment with the little kid...as well as the Girlfriend bragging rights duel...

The Lego moment was funny. WOuldn't it have been hillarious if it was a lego Batman or Superman that got stomped... LOL it would have been priceless.

hahaha I almost forgot the lego lmao

I meant I'm not a fan of threats to the entire universe, because it's so very vast. The galaxy itself with only a couple hundred billion stars is incredibly big. But if the comics established that infinity stones can do that sort of thing, then so be it.

I think it would've only been funnier if Thor had shouted in pain

no Man, mortal or immortal, can withstand the pain of stepping on legos

I will say Thor was represented much better here than in the first film IMO. I think he was easily the most enjoyable Avenger this time around. He was funny (the only one who's lines really worked for me) appropriately powerful and just seemed much...cooler, than he was in the first film.

I get that. To me the idea that our entire plane of existence would be considered an abhorrent aberration and deserving of being completely erased is an intriguing thought.

I just realized Thor never said "we would have words with thee". Come on Marvel.

That specific line was never going to be in there as the MCU Thor doesn't talk like that, although one could hope for some version of it. We did get an homage to the visual of that comic drawing though, as Thor enters Ultron's lair through a smashed hole in the wall.

I did enjoy Thor in the movie, I just hated that he didn't put up more of a fight before tricking Ultron at the end. Him fighting back a bit would have made that moment better.

But overall he had the best action feats and the best humourous moments, I especially loved "but Jane is better!" Just wish they would have kept the full Vision fight in, wasn't that originally meant to be a lot longer?

I would be okay with "We would have words with you".

I didnt know the difference between Shakespearean and old english.. I knew Shakespeare spoke in a more eloquent wway but alas thanks for the info. Im goin to bunker up now

Where da ryders at

If Thor spoke actual Old English you wouldn't be able to understand him. Well, unless you speak German. I mean even then you wouldn't be able to understand it perfectly but you would have better shot than someone who spoke English.

Shakespearean English is Modern English, it's just an early form that had slightly different syntax and slang. Honestly the biggest problem most people have with EME is that they're reading it, not hearing it, and this was back before there was a really a set way of spelling things. I mean imagine if people wrote phonetically - you would get all sorts of spellings depending on accents and just how a person thinks something sounds. There were a few letters back then that made different sounds and such (for instant, I believe the play title "Much Ado About Nothing" would sound the same back then as "Much Ado About Noting"). So really Thor doesn't speak in EME either as that would totally confuse readers and viewers alike.

I think the line would have worked as it is. Thor uses plenty of words that we don't use anymore. Revels for example in this movie. A one off "thee" wouldn't have made anyone go "huh?"

anyway on cbm I was reading there was supposed to be a scene where Thor is on fire and quicksilver runs around him to put it out

I thought it worked well that he didn't fight
he was just stalling and distracting Ultron

Had he put up an actual fight, but then Vision had to "save" him with Mjolnir, fans would be wayy more furious that "Thor looks weak next to Vision"

instead, it was a little ploy (that I assume he and Vision came up with while talking in Avengers Tower) and Thor took a beating because he knew he could take whatever Ultron dished out

I thought it made him look like more of a badass than fighting would have

I did like the ploy they used, but I still would have liked Thor to give Ultron a few good hits to show he wasnt going to go down easily.

He never actually went down though, Ultron gave him everything yet Thor was virtually unfazed.

Ultron threw him through the church, Thor got up, Ultron threw a chunk of concrete at him, punched him a few times and grabbed him by the neck. Those hits were just a slight discomfort. I would've have liked Thor to charge at Ultron after "Is that the best you can do?" A short brawl would've been awesome while the others warded off the bots and then followed the triple blast. Only in my imagination lol. That said I was still very satisfied.

Well that's the point I am making In another thread, there posters are making out Ultron beat the **** out of Thor, which I just did not see when I watched it.

Another Marvel movie, another hideously underwritten Thor.

Hey did anyone catch he name Thor says when he's talking about where his Asgardian liquor comes from. He says something like:

"It was aged for a thousand years in barrels made from the wreck of __________'s fleet."

Can anyone fill in the blank? It was a two-syllable Norse sounding name. Not a big deal, just curious/for fun.
