Uncanny Avengers

I don't get why the mutant Avengers integration is made as a big game changer by Marvel given that Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Beast have been Avengers for years.

Yep, and Wolvie's been an Avenger for a while now too.

I think Cap said they needed to show that humans and mutants can work together side by side, but his team consists of four mutants, one god and one human - himself! Surely could've picked 3 and 3?

It's because Marvel is trying to justify the crapola that was AvX.

its bc of the recent AvX fighting and the Avengers being called out for not doing much when it came to all the crap slung at the mutants the last several years. Beast, SW and Quicksilver may have been Avengers for years but the issues the Avengers tackled rarely dealt with mutant rights and they did nothing to improve the public image for mutants and they had the platform to do so. Cap now is taking an active role to actually change that. Thats why its being made into a big deal.

But its not their job...in fact that was the very mission statment of the X-men. The Avengers job is to be there when things get too much for anyone else to handle. Race relations is not part of that. Did they improve the public image of black people or hispanic people or aliens or Skrulls or demi gods???

I didnt say it was their job. Im saying this is why a bigger deal is being made of mutant integration bc race relations IS now a part of their current mission statement. If the roles were reversed and the X-men actively sought to take in Avengers members and work as part of the government to improve things, a big deal would be made about that bc that is something new and different for them

actually it wouldn't be different for them because several times in the X-men history they worked with the government. In the early years they worked with the FBI and even had an FBI liaison. Several incarnations of the splinter teams also worked for the government...X-Factor at one time was the government team. The Xtreme X-men team were granted the powers of US Marshals to police the mutant community.

none of that was about merging with the Avengers and its that group and their image which holds credibility in the public eye. Simply having some government ties has done diddly squat for them

Weren't the X-Men deputized and supposedly trying to be good government agents in a revamp of Uncanny at one point? The one where Alan Davis started drawing and Rachel Summers switched to Rachel Grey and a variant of the Marvel Girl costume? I remember they had badges and everything.

yeah that happened for like an arc but Claremont didnt really do anything with that plotline and it was phased out rather quickly

Well, Red Skull is Marvel's best evil villain 'cause their other two great villains, Magneto and Doom, love to flirt with the side of the Angels.

I always found Mr.Hyde terrifying when reading the classic stories.

Kang, loki, thanos, red skull, doom, apoc, magneto, ultron, and recently osborn
All great powerful villains

Both issues of Uncanny Avengers were a snoozefest IMO.

Hey Corp, whats your new avy?

It's cool, but I gotta be honest... it's makin me a little nauseous, lol
