Uncanny Avengers

Well in the preview, she's hanging a picture in the mansion, seemingly just loungin'

In that case, I'd say it's a rather perfect costume

Thus implying that every activity requires a specific costume. I'll be patiently awaiting "bath-time" Rogue, thus setting women's equality back about 30 years... :oldrazz:

oh shut up
this isnt about gettin sexy rogue time
its about the logic of a character whos skin no longer kills people still wearing the same outfits and not moving on and trying new experiences she never got to have

if characters are relaxing, they can wear normal clothes
unless you believe every character should always be wearing their costumes at all times

Relaxxxx, pal! It was a joke.

And in regards to your question, I'd actually prefer that characters not be in costume when they're not fighting. It always seemed weird to me when the Avengers would vbe hanging around the mansion or eating dinner in their full attire - Cap with his mask on, Thor in his helmet, Wanda in her cape, etc. I only want my heroes in costume when there's a press conference or when someones getting hit. That's one of the few things I appreciated about the Ultimates. :o

^True that
and sorry, so many people just seem to freak out about any female character not being in head to toe body armor these days
I feel character should inform costumes and things like that, whether for men or women, not some mandate to cover everybody up

but I'm all for female characters having bigger, more equal roles in comics,
it's why I've always been a bigger X-fan than anything else

for instance, where the hell is a female member of the Illuminati???

Wearing costumes while eating dinner is only cool if you're eating shawarma.

Unfortunately, that's more of a problem at Marvel than with Hickman. There really isn't a female Marvel character qualified to be on the illuminati. Maybe Emma Frost, but she's ethically questionable. I'm all for gender equality too but it shouldn't be forced. Everyone is objectified in comics - it's just a little worse with women. I agree that not every character needs to dress uber-conservatory but, for some, an more realistic update has been a long-time coming. The way their changing Ms. Marvel is the right way to go.

I'd say Storm could be up for Illuminati Membership
Or Jean Grey if she was alive
Or Kitty in a couple years, now that she's on her way to being the new Prof X

The Avengers, I'd say, need more female leaders
Black Widow should be leading Secret Avengers, and Ms. (sorry Captain) Marvel should have a team
agreed about Captain Marvel's costume tho, it reflects her character, and isn't overdone on the armor front, she's impervious, she doesn't need anything crazy. the costume reflecting her military background is perfect.

I'd agree on Jean Grey but, as you said, her time has long since passed.

Janet Van Dyne has led the Avengers for years at a time. Notably for a lot of Busiek's 56 issue run. Black Widow has too but she was there for some of the team's biggest failures, giving her an unfairly-earned poor track record. I've always liked Carol Danvers, regardless of persona. For all this talk of progress, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the old black warbird suit. :ninja:

I said a long time ago that if Jean Grey comes back she should be on the Avengers and away from the X-Men.

I miss the old black War-Bird suit as well. The new suit is just so... so... bland.

That would have actually been a great way to end that Avengers Vs. X-Men nonsense - Jean comes back, joins the Avengers much to the anger of Cyclops and other certain X-Men.

And then Jean starts dating Captain America, just to piss Cyclops off even more.:devil: And that would be the set up for Avengers Vs. X-Men 2, just in time for the Avengers sequel -

CYCLOPS: "The Avengers have brainwashed Jean into working for them! We have to rescue her and set her mind right!"
CAPTAIN AMERICA: "Damn it Scott, we can't spend the whole summer fighting over your ex-wife!"
[off to the side]
JEAN: "So this is what heroes do nowadays - they fight other heroes for no real reason?"
SCARLET WITCH: "Yeah, pretty much."
JEAN: "Hmm. Maybe I was better off dead..."
:bdh:

The last scene between them was the highlight of the issue. I don't think those 2 have ever had a moment with each other like that since they were created.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed that even more than Thor utterly ruining Wolverine's s***. Remender did a good job with it. Nice to see that Remender's put some logical constraints on Wanda, too; the full-blown reality manipulation's still there, but it takes a lot out of her when she's not bats*** crazy.

Although it was still a bit uncomfortable to see Thor go all Aryan Nazi-god on everyone. :csad:

Marvel trying - and failing - to make him look powerful again after all the times he got punked in AVX.

Remender just said on twitter that new team members (not just Wasp, Wonder Man and Sunfire) will be introduced in year two. Also, Iron Man will appear at some point, as well as Cyclops and members of Cable's X-Force.

Can't wait to see Cyclops. I wonder what his attitude is towards this team.

I feel like years ago, he may have liked the idea, but I feel like seeing Cap and Wolverine carrying the flag for mutants would piss him off pretty good now, an probably wont be thrilled to see Alex with them.

I'm sure he'll show up to b**** at Alex for being a race traitor or something. Cyclops is crazier than a bag of cats at this point.

Viva la Revolution!

Cyclops is much less crazy when things really focus on him, like Uncanny X-men. But from the viewpoint of most other characters... yeah he's extreme and I love it!

But sometimes isn't unjustified if they've been pushed enough. Taking the brunt of the oppression and horrors facing mutants during their worst period ever is going to change a guy. I can't hate him for it; hell sometimes I can't even disagree with him.
