Uncanny Avengers

Sunfire and Thor's buddy-cop routine was surprisingly funny. I've never actually cared about Sunfire before. At all. He was cool in this issue, though.

That's what Remender does though. He MAKES you care for a character...then does horrible things to said character.

oh and runaway..It's a gut call for me too. based off of Remender's penchant for telling Apocalypse stories (that don't actually feature Apocalypes) and bringing in characters that have been personally affected by Apocalypse...before it was Archangel and it didn't end well for him at all...this time it could be Sunfire (he was also a horseman of Apocalypse, plus the big A gave him some new legs), though Thor is playing a major role..I hope that I am wrong....but why else bring in such a random D list character other than to build them up and kill them (Phantomex)?

Fanomex is still alive though. The only change Remender left for someone else to deal with was his 3 brains split into multiple people.

What's the chances that Cassaday drew all these covers when he was supposed to be working on the initial UA arc?

So have Thor and Cap been taking tips from Wolverine on how to be on multiple teams? ;)

Does anyone know how long this Kang/Apocalypse story is supposed to go? I am enjoying the book (haven't pick up newest issue, though), but I am planning on dropping single issues and picking up trades to save some money. I just want to figure out how much longer this specific storyline goes.

I doubt too much longer, Infinity is slated to start in a few months.

Is Uncanny Avengers tying into that? I haven't seen anything about Infinity tie-ins. It always seemed that the Apocalypse Twins were meant to be the threat of a mega-arc (kind of like how the Age of Archangel arc from Uncanny X-Force was 9 issues give or take).

EDIT: The solicitation for the September issue of Uncanny Avengers makes no reference to Infinity.

Could be a sliding time scale. Uncanny Avengers might be slightly behind the time frame of Avengers. New Avengers seems to be slightly behind both.

I'm pretty sure I read an interview with Remender where he said it wasn't tying in to it, but I could be wrong.

Anybody else find it interesting at the end of last issue that the Sentry is one of the new four horseman? While I love seeing the Sentry back in at least some form, the only way he could be beaten last time was because he wanted to, which begs the question how he won't be invincible now if he has no conscience (not to mention, wouldn't he be the Void then, not the Sentry?)

I'd imagine his death would have significantly weakened him. If not, this would be one short story. That's the problem with omega-class heroes and the main reason I hate the Sentry (and Superman) - they're too powerful. I have faith in Remender though and I sincerely hope he takes the zombie Sentry down a few power levels. Otherwise, what's the point?

Also, Thor held his own relatively well against Sentry in Siege. At that time, Thor was in pretty bad shape and Sentry was at his prime. The two are a pretty even match IMO.

Still wish Sentry (and Daken) had stayed dead though :csad:

That's part of the reason why I liked Jenkins' original mini so much. Yes, he was super powerful, but the dark side of himself, we learned in the end, kept him from really using that power. It was a checks and balance system. For every amount of good he does as the Sentry, the Voice balances it with an act of evil. It was fantastic. Sadly, the moment they decided to bring him into the ongoing 616 that plot couldn't work anymore :(

The Jenkins mini is irrelevant now. If the Sentry had been contained to it, he would've been a great character. That he wasn't has turned him into a pretty terrible character, and it's dropped his power level down to something more manageable. At first, upon reading Siege, I assumed Thor only beat him because Bob was willing himself to die, since that was the only thing that made sense given his power level from the original mini. But looking back on it, I could see that Sentry and that Thor actually being a match and Thor just straight-up killing him. It wouldn't bother me at all if the Sentry were just portrayed as right around Thor's level from now on. In spite of how terrible Bendis made the Sentry as a hero, he actually turned him into a pretty decent antivillain and there's a good opportunity to set up an ongoing rivalry between him and Thor.

Agreed. The Sentry (at least in the 616) makes a much better villain than hero and provides a real threat deserving of the Avengers combined attentions. He just needs to be dialed back to fit into the mainstream MU. No more throwing things into the sun or recreating reality on a molecular level (as in Dark Avengers).

So, according to UNCANNY AVENGERS #6, Logan is over 1,000 years old now???

I thought Origins(and other stories) had him at around 100 years old...

He's not over 1,000 years old. Origin is still his origin. I don't recall reading that in Uncanny Avengers and it definitely would have caught my eye. Chances are you misread it.

That was an ancestor of Wolverine. He was used by Kang to lure Apocalypse into Thor's path so Kang could get his hands on Thor's axe. I doubt that Folkbern Logan guy is going to serve any further purpose for now.

I read an interview on CBR yesterday that confirmed that there will be no Infinity tie-in issues for Uncanny Avengers. However, the Uncanny Avengers team WILL be involved via the tie-in issues of Avengers Assemble.

Ok, thanks. I guess either I misread it, or they didn't do a very good job of identifying Folkbern Logan as an ancestor of Logan, and not actually him.
