Uncanny Avengers

Sunfire and Wonderman I don't care much about, but I hope they don't kill Wanda off.

They won't kill off Wanda. We just got her back and she's going to be in both X-Men: Days of Future Past and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I think Wonderman's a goner though. Besides him I can see Havok dying and bringing the fractured team back together.

Hey there - thank you for getting back to me with those cameos! I will make note of those and check them out for sure. Their origin story so far (explaining about their parents, etc) is fantastic so I look forward to learning more about the characters. Thank you again! :) -Jon (of aCBL)

I don't know what trades you're reading, but they also had two minis alongside the Young Avengers... one taking place during Civil War and the other during Secret Invasion. I know they also guest stared in Dagon's comic toward the end (Wolverine's son).

I think the original team is safe. I also don't see them getting rid of Wasp so quickly. Wonder Man and Sunfire seem to be the likely targets.

Sunfire's not done much so far. It would be a waste to kill him off this early. Maybe it's Havok? Nothing like the death of the leader to unite a team.

She's not in Days. Just Quicksilver is.

what's the latest in the current storyline? Is the team falling apart?

Havok will appear to die in issue 13, but will be sent to the future. Sunfire and Scarlet Witch will appear to die in issue 14, but will also be transported to the future. Rogue, Wolverine, and Wonder Man will die for real. Only Captain America, Thor, and Wasp will be left. With all the mutants appearing to be dead, the Unity Team will appear to have failed. It will be up to the mutants in the future to save the day and restore the dead Avengers in the present.

I dunno,
I could see Sunfire buyin it for reals
He was a horsemen of death, and it would be rather fitting for him to die heroically while stopping the twins

At the end of issue 5 Havok, Wanda and Sunfire were seen in some post-apocalyptic NYC when they encountered Onslaught led by the reanimated corpse of Xavier. So, I agree....I don't these guys are so much as dying but are being "time-displaced" similar what happened to Cap years ago during Brubaker's run.

numerous deaths does not sound promising

Thor vs. Two Apocalypses, on the other hand, sounds very friggin' promising.
especially drawn by Mcniven??
That should be one of the prettiest battles ever
Judging from recent history, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Thor gets his ass handed to him. :csad:

In the future, Rogue and most of the X-Men will be dead, so they can't stop Red Skull-Onslaught. Magneto will still be alive, and the Avengers will ally themselves with him. Magneto will of course oppose the Nazi.

They're not killing off Rogue. She's being used to heavily in Wood's X-Men right now.

what recent events are you talking about? The loeb red hulk run? Cause yeah that was bs, but fail to see where Thor is getting shafted as terribly as you seem to think. I mean Thor got his hammer broke, and his father came back so he is a little weaker without the Odinforce, but at least he should get it back when Odin dies again. Thor is my favorite character, but the X-men are pretty close, and no, Thor should not have been able to defeat a host to the pheonix if thats what you mean by getting shafted. Movies and TV don't matter either, so if you feel THor got shafted in the avengers movie, its cause Thor was holding back, like he always done. If you would like to see what Thor can do when not holding back, I refer you to the simonson run, and early showings vs hulk, just because the writers aren't letting thor one shot people recently, doesn't mean he can't, they just want the fights to last more than one panel. However the last 7 years have only see a few really badass Thor beat downs, and that is a shame, but you really reading and watching Thor absolutely DESTROY Extremis Iron man after civil war, in such a no contest way, it really shows how superior Thor is to Iron man even at Iron mans best he couldn't even hit thor.

he may have been referring to Sentry handing Thor his ass, which has now happened a couple times in the past few years

as an aside
I recently watched the "epic superhero battles" thing from, i think, Machinima
Y'all watched these??
The Thor v. Supes battle pissed me off so hard it wasn't funny

Quicksilver and Polaris are both going to be in Peter David's X-Factor, so neither will be joining the Uncanny Avengers.

umm? when and where? The Sentry has never fought Thor seriously, and the one time he did, it was the Sentry that ended up dying. But please enlighten me to when Thor was trying to beat the Sentry but couldnt, because the Sentry was introduced while Thor was dead, Thor came back handed Extremis Iron man his ass, aided in Secret Invasion, but refused to become an Avenger again until the SRA was repealed post Siege. During this time, I do not believe there was any actual Sentry vs Thor encounters, however in a What if? issue, Thor snaps the Sentry's neck.

They fought once during Siege and most recently in Uncanny Avengers. But nevertheless, Thor has a history of being jobbed out during recent Marvel events.....until 2 days ago. :woot:

I don't know. He wasn't in House of M or Civil War or World War Hulk. He didn't do much in Secret Invasion. He was beat down in Siege by a huge group effort but ultimately came out the victor by going toe-to-toe with Sentry. Yes, Sentry let Thor kill him, but still. I wouldn't say Thor had a BAD showing there. Kinda the same with Fear Itself... and again, he got the win. He was beat around pretty bad in AvX, but that actually makes perfect sense to me being that it was the freaking Phoenix doing the beating. And now Infinity where his first showing had him come across like a boss.

I kinda feel like people play up the Thor for punching bag deal sometimes.

In Siege, no matter how some may make it sound, Thor was getting beat by Sentry pretty good, what with all of Asgard being destroyed and nothing Thor could do about it, and then just a few issues ago with Sentry flying him at ridiculous faster-than-light speeds... those are specifically the "couple" times I was referring to. Granted one was a Voided-up Sentry and the other a "death"-ed up Sentry, but still. Guys like Thor are always the first to get their ass kicked when a writer wants you to know how terrifying a villain is (ie Thor v. Phoenixes, Juggernaut v Onslaught, anybody v Ultron or Apocalypse).

Thor is no one's punching bag!

But he loves using kids as his punching bags!

:ninja:

He got beat up by Rachel in AvX and she didn't have the Phoenix. She was a regular mutant who was able to go toe to toe with him, withstand Mjolnir and took him out. He most definetly was jobbed in this story
