Uncanny Avengers

Was anyone really expecting Rogue and the Scarlet Witch to stay dead?

Although I'm curious how Wolverine is gonna work in Uncanny Avengers when he's supposed to be off the grid. He and Thor just got in a fight over his recent actions in Wolverine's own comic and it sounded like Wolverine had pretty much quit the Avengers.

yeah which sucks cuz I was enjoying their more friendly interactions in some earlier issues of UA. Them being the old warriors who know what it is to have to kill in the heat of battle made sense, and seeing Wolvie friendly with someone who's not an X-Man or Spider-man is always fun.

Yeah, Thor is, in a lot of ways, a grown-up Wolverine who's mostly moved past his rage-fueled adolescence but definitely hasn't forgotten it. It wasn't until Uncanny Avengers that I started looking at them that way, but it fits.

That's a good point. And welcome back from wherever the hell you've been.

I've been experimenting with a real-life Odinsleep. I woke up yesterday and found I could tear trees out of the ground with my bare hands, so it seems to be working.

Why was Wonder Man absent from that cover? Is he a goner at the end of the story?

He shouldn't be. We know Rogue is coming back, and Rogue died before Wanda cast her spell, which is what 'killed' Wonder Man. So if they're going back to change the past so that Rogue lives, it would have to be before Wonder Man died too. Maybe he'll just decide to leave because, again, pacifism is kind of useless for a superhero.

Rogue is a great character, but that outfit damn it pisses me off. Havok's is awesome and his costume id meeehhhhh

It's her old school costume which is kind of dated since she's usually a flier/powerhouse. I always preferred this look:

I liked the '90s cartoon costume. I don't know why they ever switched her out of that. Probably because it's yellow and green, and comic costumes started becoming allergic to color after the X-Men movies were released...

yeah, her yellow and green with the jacket was the best, hands down

still don't like that they've put her back in a hood and gloves, now that she has her powers under control

I feel like Thor shouldn't be using that axe anymore.

yeah all it does is cause problems
but now he's gunna be not worthy, so he thinks its a good idea to pick up that thing???

stupid move thor
Hope he doesn't go a similarly "dark and nearly evil" route as Tony

i don't follow thor...but um..so the axe is evil?

Eh, it's fallen into the wrong hands a few times. It's not enchanted by a spell that prevents others from using it like his hammer.

The axe, Jarnbjorn, was enchanted specifically to kill Celestials. It's neither good nor evil, it's a tool. That's why he was using it against Kang--because Kang took the power of a Celestial, so Jarnbjorn should've been able to kill him too, if Thor could've actually hit him with it.

ahh. so basically he will still be Thor, complete with powers..just now wielding an axe because he did something to make him unworthy of his hammer?

That's what it sounds like. Specific details seem pretty scarce, but I believe Tom Brevoort said Thor would still have all his powers not related to Mjolnir.

Whether Brevoort and the writer, Jason Aaron, actually remember that that includes control of the weather is going to be a point on which they either greatly impress me or greatly disappoint me. You'd think they would; it's written on the damn hammer. "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." The weather manipulation comes from Thor, as his divine right, and a lesser duplicate was enchanted into the hammer by Odin. All it's ever done is let Thor focus his innate command of the weather better.

I feel like jumping ship now that this arc is finally over. I kind of want to see how the Red Skull thing continues but this book is just becoming a chore to read...

I don't really want to drop UA because it's not actually bad. Its quality from issue to issue just varies so wildly that it's kind of a hassle to read.

It is a chore. But Remender set so many things up that I'm just too curious to stop reading now.

man i fell in love with this book last week. i was realllly late to the party on this one. i was bored and picked up this arc, and it was nutty to say the least, in a good way!

my question is..... is this book finished after issue 22????? is it going to keep going?
