Uncanny Avengers

Great issue with a freaking nutty ending. Remender took the blah feeling we were left with after AvX and turned it into an epic turning of the page that NOW is all about. It was the perfect book to launch the NOW era.

Cassaday's art was real solid as well. I respect the guy's talents, it's just that he takes forever to work and can be slow. Kudos to the entire crew for this issue.

Agreed!
My only complaint is; why change Thor's costume? He has had arguably the best look in Marvel over the past few years (and I really liked his original).
I guess Marvel figured if DC can **** up their characters with horrible new designs, why can't we. :whatever:

I loved the issue. Though I still hate Captain America... and his costume is ugly! My favorite part was the stuff between Wanda and Rogue. I was glad Rogue got a punch in! I couldn't believe Wanda said that stuff!

Not that I want her with those powers, but I really wanted Rogue to just perma-absorb her. I really cant stand the witch

Don't hate her, but can't say that Wanda didn't deserve that punch Rogue gave her.

It's funny because she said "I don't want to fight you Rogue" but yet she said some fighting words...

Wanda is the biggest troll in the marvel universe.

Wanda: "Why was it so important more mutants be born?"

Says the woman that wiped out millions of them

Having picked this boom up on a whim, Id say it sucks. Personally.

Always the cynic.
Well, I'll give my opinion on this issue in 2 years time when it gets released in the UK Collector's Editions.

Just picked it up to get into more Marvel comics. AWESOME issue. The last shot was disturbing to say the least.

Anyone use the app? It's freaking great.

When does Spider-Man relaunch?

As I posted in the Bought/Thought thread, I really enjoyed Remender's first issue on Uncanny Avengers and would give it 4 or 4.5 out of 5 stars. I generally love everything Remender has done (except for Franken-Castle) and this was no exception. Some thoughts on the issue:

1) Wow, the whole [BLACKOUT]Red Skull extracting Professor X's brain[/BLACKOUT] thing was pretty dark. Nice to see Remender hasn't lost his Uncanny X-Force/Venom edge!

2) There may be a pretty interesting team dynamic between the [BLACKOUT]Scarlet Witch and Rogue[/BLACKOUT]. Kudos to Remender for creating some drama on the team that might not be cringe-worthy (I'm looking at you, Bendis).

3). I know this is probably wrong, but did the symbols on the [BLACKOUT]Red Skull's base/laboratory/hideout[/BLACKOUT] look similar to the markings on the [BLACKOUT]"Dark Ant" costume at the end of Secret Avengers [/BLACKOUT]to anyone else? There's probably no connection but I just thought I'd bring it up in case it becomes a major reveal in a few months.

Glad everyone enjoyed the first issue. Now if we can just get the team formed and a few more members, all will be right with the world!

Maybe it's because I'm an Avengers fan over an X-fan, but am I the only one who wanted Wanda to Hex Rogue?

No, I felt the same way - but I am an also an Avengers fan primarily.

So this is the first issue of Marvel I've picked up in a long time, having gotten sick of a couple of writers and the stories in general. I thought this was an awesome issue; the S-Men seemed neat for the 2 pages they were on and Skull had the right mix of creepy and campy.

I found it awfully conveneint that the minute Captain America wants to all of a sudden take a more pro-active role in the X-men and mutant issues that his arch nemesis just so happens to be targeting them

Well, it would make sense for Cap to want to help them in a vulnerable time that was partly his fault just as it would be for the villains to try and take advantage.

I didn't read any of AvX. How exactly was it his fault?

In issue 1, he came on the X-men's front lawn demanding that they hand Hope over and his initial goal was to keep her from bonding with the Phoenix Force bc he thought she'd destroy the earh. Fast forward to issue 12 and Hope bonds with the Phoenix Force saves the earth and restores the X-gene with the aid of Scarlet Witch. Of course this is just the cliffnotes and more went on, but basically the fighting in between could have been avoided had the Avengers not tried to intervene and let Hope do what she was intended

Wow. So Cyclops is a terrorist, and Captain America is an idiot. Way to write both of your top franchises into a hole marvel.

Hopefully with this series they can dig both of em out of the hole

I'm really on the fence with this one, but I'll give the next issue the benefit of a doubt on account of the final splash.

I really enjoyed it tbh, also got myself the skottie young variant too

Cap also threw his shield at Rachel Grey and Polaris. 1 is the most powerful telekinetic on Earth and the other controls metal. Needless to say, they both took him out with his own shield. Hilarious. :woot:
