Have you read the latest on the Xbox Scorpio that's coming out in 2017?

Xbox One “Scorpio” Will be More Powerful Than the PS4 Neo, Says Report
Written Thursday, May 26, 2016 By Lee Bradley

Yesterday, a new report claimed that Microsoft is working on a more powerful Xbox codenamed Scorpio. Today, further reports have emerged claiming that the console will be more powerful than the PS4 Neo, Sony’s rumoured upcoming mid-gen update.

According to Polygon, Microsoft is keen to avoid a situation that has caused much discussion regarding the Xbox One - resolution and frame rate disparity with PlayStation 4. As a result, the company is said to be targeting a 6 teraflops peak power for the “Xbox One Scorpio”, which is more than the 4.14 teraflops target of the PlayStation Neo.

A teraflop is measure of a computer’s overall speed. It’s an indication of power that doesn’t specify the performance of the graphics processing unit (GPU) or central processing unit (CPU). For comparison, the Xbox One operates a peak target of 1.32 teraflops, while the PS4's is 1.84 teraflops.

Teraflops is a wonderful word.

Both Polygon and Kotaku sources point to a 2017 release date for the Xbox One Scorpio. A slim Xbox One, 40 per cent smaller than the current unit, is expected to be announced at E3 in June for release this year.

Even if the Neo is weaker than the Scorpio it's going to be a beast of a console. These are the consoles that should have came out after the PS3 and 360. People are calling the Neo and Scorpio mid gen consoles but the truth is the PS4 and X-One should be considered the mid-gen consoles.

Yeah man I heard about it. Just hearing more and more about this crap is making me lose my passion for gaming more and more.

well yeah, most people probably would've been annoyed but I would've been fine if we just had the Ps3 and 360 even now and the 8th gen start this year.

i can definitely see people hating that. but it would've made the launch of new gen that much sweeter.
Not if it's powerful enough to support 1080p.
...it's not. not with the higher framerate. I don't know what's so hard for you to understand about that.

So I started the game and here are some early thoughts

First thing I noticed was that this thing is 30fps. Im usually not a sticker for frame rate but its quite noticeable here. The gameplay feels slow and sluggish which is a disappointed after just coming off the Uncharted Collection which was 60fps. Its too bad they werent able to achieve that here

Ive heard some people say this feels like TLoU and I totally see it. Its almost like Uncharted with a TLoU skin thrown over it

When Sam [blackout]"died",[/blackout] I cant say I care. This character completely came out of nowhere as there was no indication that Nate even had a brother before.. I know they threw in that segment from their childhood to establish a relationship but it didn't resonate with him. Speaking of which this game starts so SLOW. On Chapter 4 and I still dont feel as if the game has started yet.

Im glad I held off on playing this and replayed the older games instead. That walk around with the artifacts from the past games would have been completely lost on me had I not refreshed myself

Every time a new console comes out, people say this. But if the idea is to push the tech, you will never get consistent games at 1080p/60fps, because computers have already lapped the new consoles. A more powerful PS4 or Xbox One is still years behind top of the line PC. So the tech is well behind.

yeah the Ps4K and xbone scorpio could probably still be behind the top tier PC but these upgrades are supposed to give the platforms a better edge within the ballparks of the tech in the same generation.

There is no probably about it. Big advances in the tech are happening every 6 months, and specs for consoles get locked for production. The original PS4 and Xbox One were years old when they actually came out.

well nothing is confirmed. all this talk abut iterative consoles is still rumor and speculation because neither sony nor mS have came out and straight up confirmed anything.

Im an hour and a half in and just reunited with Sam. This game doesnt feel like a game yet. These first few chapters feel more like a movie which is a departure for the series bc its never spent this much time showing us stuff and rather jumps right into the action. Its almost MGS-esque in a way

That is true. But if it does happen, you will get the usual stuff. Either they downgrade the look, or it runs at 30fps. That is the norm.

So, has it been released what Amy's story for Uncharted 4 was?

Some people have been doing digging and came to the conclusion that Sam was actually supposed to be the villain for Uncharted 4. You can kind of get this idea supported from the teaser trailer they released back in 2013. What do you guys think?

I think it was good that they parted ways with her.

I think it was good that they parted ways with her.

Care to elaborate? I think that's an interesting stance to have.

Personally, I loved Uncharted 4. I think it might be my favorite one out of the series. As Havok pointed out, the beginning is definitely a slow burn however, I'm a sucker for slow burns. I enjoy watching things unfold and taking time to develop/give an extensive look at what's on the line. I liked the little shoot out in the attic with the toy gun, the homebody feel between Elena and Nathan...they go from these grand adventures to normal people. That has to be difficult in a sense. (That pays off later in the game.)

I do wish that Sam was eluded to in the previous chapters. I think that'd make the revelation/what's at stake feel more hefty. Still, I enjoy the banter between the two brothers. They nailed the relationship for sure. My favorite banter in the game was probably...

Nathan: "Here, help me move this."
Sam: "What if that's the only thing holding up the tunnel?"
Nathan: "Then...I'll apologize."

I don't know why but, the delivery...it made me actually chuckle out loud. Baker and North are excellent together with their chemistry. I will agree though, it definitely felt like a The Last of Us sequel with a Uncharted coat on it. Especially when Sam is pushing planks/crates down for you to climb on. This time around, you didn't feel like you were exploring alone. You always had someone with you for most of the game. I don't know, definitely a change of pace for the franchise.

In a way, given the story they were telling, I think it complimented the experience. You really felt like the two brothers have devoted their lives to finding this together.

Yeah, it is very slow in the beginning. I don't think anything of real significance happens until like Chapter 12. I found it to be a pretty boring ride for most of the first half, honestly, but it does pick up and gets pretty good once it finally gets going. As blasphemous as saying anything critical about this game is to some, they probably could've done a lot of trimming in the first half.

Also, curious, did you mean this game feels like TLOU with an Uncharted skin? Because I don't know what you mean the other way around.

Prefer the apporach of Druckmann and Straley to hers. Quite a lot actually. I find Among Thieves, The Last of Us and A Thief's End by far superior to Uncharted and Uncharted 3.

The narrative styling and general approach of A Thief's End is far more TLoU then Uncharted. It is like a combination of Among Thieves and TLoU.

I realize what he means, just wondering if he meant to say the other way around. The phrasing makes it sound like it's more Uncharted, but TLOU cosmetically, as opposed to the other way around like said.

Yeah, I didn't read that clear enough. My fault.

I kept expecting Sam to be a liar about Alcazar but I was hoping he wasn't going to be just another double crossing cliche thief like that dickweed Harry Flynn. Making Sam a villain would have robbed this game of a lot of its sincerity and heart.

Having said that, it was real classy of them to put a thank you to Amy Hennig in the credits. Regardless of her story choices, I'm grateful for her work on the first three games.

Oh and I beat the game on Crushing. Holy ****ing ****! Chapters 17-20 are frustrating enough to make you pull your hair out. And it wasn't until Chapter 20 that I realized I could select any gun I wanted to from the bonus menu and it wouldn't disable trophies. I spent two days hung up in the ship graveyard getting absolutely slaughtered. Then when I figured out I could use bonuses I got the Barok .40, the M14, and the RPG and commenced to slaughtering those shoreline ****ers right back. :D

This game was a fantastic end to the series. I also had a lot of fun with photo mode.

You can also turn on bullet speed which slows everything down when you aim. That combined with those guns makes it a breeze even on Crushing.

My problem is I've beaten the game twice and still haven't gotten the 70% or higher accuracy trophy. I really don't get it because practically every shot I've taken has landed thanks to bullet time mode.

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised by the route they took with Sam.

Also, I've seen a couple of complaints about the chapter where you're exploring that old lady Evelyn's house and its place in the story, and I must say, I really love that chapter and the thematic weight it drops in that moment in time:

It seems like all anyone talks about with that chapter is, "oh, we find out about their mom and where the whole 'Drake' thing came from," but what I got most from that chapter is the poignancy of that Evelyn character. Going through and reading all her letters and stuff, she's like Nate's "Ghost of Christmas Future" - someone who got so caught up in the adventure she ended up forsaking the things that meant the most to her. Her husband left her, still loved her but kept trying to get her to be a more present mother to their son, take him on one of her adventures, etc. And then when she reached old age she had regrets and tried to reach out to her son and grandchild, they wanted nothing to do with her. So she ended up a sick, regretful old lady, dying alone in her deserted mansion full of all the "treasure" she'd collected over the years, which was now just collecting dust. She represented the future Nate was afraid of, and the reason for that "empty feeling" that set in after each adventure.

And I felt it's placement in the story was perfect, right after he found out Sam lied to him and really just wanted to continue the adventure with him, realizing he'd "left his life" for this. It's like that was the moment he realized that fate he'd long feared was in danger of coming true, and was reminded of what the real "treasure" was in his life, what he wanted to hold onto.

The "Drake"/Cassie Morgan reveals were really just icing on the cake in that chapter, imo.
So anyway, I really liked that chapter and found it to be one of the more beautifully sad and poignant moments of the whole game.
