Unfortunate names

My high school english teacher's name was Sandra (Sandy) Beach.

My Fiance's Gym Teacher's name was Laura Butts married to the Advanced science teacher Harry.

I'm gonna list

  • My dad's name is John Doe.
  • My Mum's best friend is called Jenny Haw (pronounced ****e)
  • When I was like 13 my best friend was called Emma Dale (I think only British people will get this)
  • My cousin Teri (short for Theresa) married a guy called Paul Green so she's now Theresa Green (Trees Are Green)

I like the trees are green one.

Any over the top religious names I find to be stupid. Like Batholomew and what not. That is just a terrible name

my mom almost named our younger brother Cuthbert (grandad's first name) Thank god my sister's made her change it and make it his middle name.

My parents always joked about naming my older brother with the same names as their dads.
My dad's dad was Arzo
My mom's dad was Delbert.

They joked they would name him Arzo Delbert. Thank goodness they didn't do that. Instead they gave me my grandmother's first name for my middle name. That's not so bad though it's Kathleen

I knew a lady who had two sons each named Owen Scott.

Anyone ever see the movie Ghost Dad? One of the characters was a man named Edith. He was named after his grandmother. Thing is, while his grandmother's name was pronounced "ee-dith" with a long E, his was pronounced "ed-ith" with the same "ed" you'd find in "edward." Spelled the exact same way, though.

I knew a guy in college named Ann. It obviously bothered him cos he pumped up and was very aggressive and abrasive.

Stacey Keach anyone? Though he chose to be named Stacey... I would'nt.

Well, Stacy is his middle name. There was probably already a registered actor named Walter Keach, so he needed to whip up a name no one else had.

It's why half of the people who change their name in Hollywood do it. Keaton isn't Michael Keaton's real last name. He had to change it because there was already a Michael Douglas.

Whos the guy in Lords of Dogtown? Stacey Petralta? Yea, Stacey is a girls name. hehehe :immature:

I didn't think about another actor, and I certainly did not know that about Keaton, now my brain has another wrinkle.

Stacy/Stacey is one of those unisex names that gets used for girls more often than boys. Like Kelly or Ashley.

I don't see me giving my son a popular girl's name. Same goes my daughter.

I wouldn't give my kids especially popular names in general. I don't want my kids to be "Mike W." or "Short Nicole" or "Black Matt" or "The Other Sarah." I went by my last name a few times as a kid because there was another Kevin in my classes.

You don't meet too many Dominics or Sloanes, though.

Not bad names.

One time there was five Mike's in my class and nobody could pronounce my last name. Now though, I hardly ever meet another Mike. I guess it was a popular name for kids my age.

There are people that name their daughters Avery and James

James?! Oh man that's distasteful. I can't imagine calling a girl James to their face, I'd think they were a tranny or something.

You know she tells everyone to call her Jamie.

Oh..and there's also a trend of people spelling male names backward. The logic there being that it's the opposite of a male name, and thus is a girl name.

James = Semaj.

I kid you not.

I once went to a doctor whose last name was Finkelstein. So, when he came up to me, shook my hand and I said "Hey, I'm Dr. Finkelstein!" I immediately let out a little laugh, because I thought he was joking. I figured that he was making a Nightmare Before Christmas reference. He gave me a confused look, so I glanced down at his jacket and saw that the name "Dr. Finkelstein" sewn in.

So that was super awkward for about five seconds.
