Veronica Mars

What has happened to this show, put it out of it's misery. I'd rather see it dead than a pale imitation of Dawson's Detective...

I don't know why they're rehashing Duncan/Meg with Logan.

Honestly... Piz is my hero now, that was one of the best moments of Season 3 for me... I don't like what they've done with Logan (totally emasuclated him), nor do I like not seeing Wallace (but seeing PLENTY of Logan), nor do I like Mac's romantic subplot (or the mini-overall plots)...

But that particular moment made at least a few episodes of the season worthwhile...

Mac's boyfriend(ex) was cute, And nice, and not once tried to kill her. She was crazy for breaking up with him. Where the hell have I seen Him before, though? Oh well, I don't know.

And the other guy, Was it Tim? He's not too bad if Mac and him went out.

Dick Casablancas may be the most hilarious character on this show, or any dramatic show for that matter. On last weeks episode, when he and Veronica were in the elevator and tells him his fly is down, and he responds by saying "I know, it's a pre-party ritual," I was laughing my ass off. And then, last night, when it shows him running over his own foot, I just busted out laughing. He deserves his own sitcom.

he could meet up with Barney from How I Met Your Mother and they could go on zany adventures. best sitcom ever right there.

'Mars' solves last case
Posted: Tue., May 15, 2007, 8:26pm PT

Over at the Eye's cousin net, the CW has officially greenlit three dramas and two unscripted magazine shows as it says goodbye to "Mars."

Nothing's official, but several people familiar with the situation said "Mars" was, indeed, canceled. Word on the street was that "Mars" creator-exec producer Rob Thomas was offered a showrunner gig on CBS' "Viva Laughlin" but that scenario is now off the table.

Also definitely gone: "All of Us," the Will Smith-produced laffer that ran for three seasons on UPN and the CW.

Returning shows snagging official pickups are laffers "Girlfriends" and "The Game" and dramas "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "One Tree Hill." CW picked up "Everybody Hates Chris" for a third season earlier this spring.

As expected, execs at the Green net Tuesday called the producers of "Gossip Girl," "Reaper" and a remake of Blighty family drama "Wild at Heart" (still untitled at the CW) to give them the good news. After some last-minute snags, comedy "Aliens in America" also got the go-ahead Tuesday afternoon.

The CW also is moving forward with a pair of magazine-style shows, both of which will likely air Sunday nights in the 7 p.m. timeslot. "Online Nation" is a sort of "America's Funniest Home Videos" for the YouTube generation, while "CW Now" is the net's "ET"-style look at pop culture.

On the scripted side, greenlight for "Gossip Girl" gives exec producer Josh Schwartz his second series order this season. It's a quick comeback for Schwartz, whose last hit -- Fox's "The OC" -- left the air in February.

:ninja:
Tomorrow will have the final say but it appears its over.

I'll be pretty pissed if it doesnt come back, especially since I've read so much about The CW loving Rob Thomas' idea for season 4.

Anyway, I loved last nights episode. Dick feeling terrible about Beaver's death and yelling at his father was amazing. A little frightening too, considering hes always such a funny character.

Well the cast is already moving on so it doesnt look good either way, the actor that plays Piz has gone on to Private Practice (Greys spin-off), and Kristin Bell is going to be narrating Gossip Girl for the CW.

But if by some slim chance the show does get picked up they will be getting basically a new cast anyway due to the 5 year jump that will occurring.

Kristen Bell narrating GG isnt that big of a deal. It's not like she has an on-camera role. Rob even said he was cool with Kristin doing the narrations, AND he says that VM may come back midseason. As for Chris Lowell... Piz isnt a very important character.

Ya I know, just saying that she is narrating that now. But if the show is picked up the new charecters they introduced this season arent that important to the show at all anyway.

I forwarded Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas the comments Dawn Ostroff made at the CW upfront (read 'em in my live blog) regarding the show's fate, and below is the response he just sent me:

"No one has talked to me about a new, non-Veronica project. All my writer's have been offered jobs elsewhere, and I believe they will now all accept these jobs. Very, very, very sad day around the VM offices.

I assume that anything Dawn would be talking about in the realm of a Rob-Kristen project would involve a new from-scratch pilot as they don't have me in a deal, and they'll lose Kristen in a couple of weeks."

Bottom line: It's over.

First Gilmore Girls and now this. Simply depressing. Who's giving out hugs?

So yeah...

They cancel this but give OTH mid-season renewal and guess what? They are advancing teh show 4 years ahead....

Oh shut the **** up with the OTH bashing. the creaters of OTH came up with the idea of the jump ahead long ago. Longer than Rob Thomas went public with the idea of jumping veronica ahead into the FBI. You wanna blame anyone, blame Gossip Girls or the network itself. Plus, GG took Kristen Bell, so... put 2 and 2 together and see that the cast moved on long before the CW made their announcement today. I'm gonna miss the show, too, but lets not point fingers.

they moved on because they knew it wasn't likely to be picked up.

the CW has become the ****tiest network now.

Why is it al lthe good shows gwt cancelled? But yet the game gets renewed?

Looks like i'll only have to watch the **** W on thursday now. for Smallville and Supernatural.

here's the thing...

FEW pulled harder for this show more than me. I EXCLUSIVELY gave season 1 and 2 boxsets as presents to everyone I knew as birthday presents for the last 2 years.

I have physically FORCED some people to watch this show.

I think seasons 1 & 2 are some of the BEST TV ever (Along with Sopranos S1&2, The UK Office, Alias S2, Lost S1&3, Battlestar S1&2, The Larry Sanders Show, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, etc).

HAVING said that, Veronica S3 has just been a decent show... kinda like 'House'. I like the characters, but there is NOTHING gripping about it. With no huge season-long mystery, and no compelling weekly mysteries (im looking at you, jock who lost his play-book), there are no stakes this season.

The rape mystery was okay, but its hard to get into a rape mystery when none of the victims are close to Veronica, but also we've seen Veronica already solve a much more interesting rape mystery... namely HER OWN!

The dean's murder was, again decent (better than the rapist, imo) but Veronica was not personally involved like with Lilly, or with the bus crash (when it APPEARED that it was meant to kill her).

Ironically, the revamp for s3 of no HUGE mystery didnt help ratings and kinda killed my enthusiasm for the show.

In the end, I'm glad we got more VMars, but if it had ended @ S2, it would have eneded while still perfect.

When it ends next Tues, it ends as a show that, due to network pressure resulting from the fact that NOBODY WAS WATCHING, was forced to dumb itself down to please the masses... which sucks.

I really don't need more of this show. I DO need more Rob Thomas TV shows and more Kristen Bell... Which I can still have... So I'm MORE than okay that it wont be returning.

From the sounds of it, even if a show called Veronica Mars was on next season it would be nothing like the glory days of season 1 and it wouldn't even be like the marginally enjoyable days of season 3.

I really hope Rob Thomas creates another series that can rival VM in amazing storytelling. As for Kristen, we can hear her on Gossip Girl, even if that is just a carbon copy of The O.C. But she does have a great narrating voice.
