Veronica Mars

This is because the showrunners are out of the job because iZombie is finishing?

I'll admit I've never seen a single episode of Veronica Mars. It's one of those shows I only know about from its reputation, but good for the show. And Kristen Bell in particular. Between this, The Good Place, and House of Lies not too long ago, she's had some major wins as far as big TV gigs, and with this being on Hulu, it makes sense since everything seems to be headed the streaming route.

And with iZombie ending next year, maybe I'll finally check out this show.

This show is right up there with Futurama and Family Guy for constantly getting cancelled then renewed.

pretty slap-dash trailer but I'm beyond stoked for this. Patton Oswalt in the Veronica Mars universe is like destiny unfolding.

Original seasons on Hulu now.

1-minute into my re-watch and I'm realizing the pilot I've known all these years must've been the extended cut for the DVD's, as I never saw it's original airing and now I already miss that more noir-ish opening scene.

Reviews seem pretty good so far. The Hollywood Reporter's the only really mixed one I've seen. New York Magazine says it's the best the show's been since S1.

A week early? Nice!!! Guess I know what I'm doing tonight! :woo:

EDIT: A minute in and Eliza Coupe shows up?

Talk about a great start!

On episode 6 and kinda loving this season so far. It's VERY different from the original show, mainly because they've ditched the mystery-of-the-week format in favor of the binge-friendly "extended movie" model, but I think it works. I'm loving all the familiar faces and places that keep cropping up, but I straight up squealed when
Clarence Weidman showed up. That dude was always my favorite tertiary character on this show, and I definitely never expected to see him again!

Also, the state of Weevil and Veronica's relationship hurts me. :(

Well the ending's gonna outrage some people, but I'm good with it (I also have my doubts about what it means). All-in-all, really enjoyed the season, and would absolutely be up for more.

I don't get Hulu, but VM is on Crave and I'm just starting season 4 now.

I guess that takes care of my TV viewing for this weekend.:D

I wonder if Crave will get The Orville too? That would save me from having to get Hulu.:cwink:

First season was magnificent. Second was ok. The rest is forgetable fluff. Unfortunately, that includes saeson 4.

I enjoyed season 4; it had a good central mystery and some decent side plots. (Perhaps condensing things from 22 to 8 episodes better focused the narrative?) One thing I noticed - which didn’t really register with the movie - was the shift from “girl detective” adventures to adult mystery/drama. Perhaps I was expecting a purer dose of nostalgia. But - of course - if we insist on revisiting a high school/college protagonist some 12 years later, we necessarily get a 30-something protagonist. :word:

About the ending…

I noticed several viewer responses which gave high marks to S4 - until the last 10 minutes of the last episode. Whereupon, they retroactively repudiated the whole season. In fact, I think some - who were especially traumatized - retroactively repudiated the entire canon. :cwink:

I enjoyed S4 but not sure that we needed the Joss Whedon of it all twist that they pulled.
