Visualizing A Superman Reboot: Pictures Welcome - Part 1

i believe it's from "Knowing"

Something like the top pics would look great as Krypton.
i love that first picture...i'll be slightly disappointed if we don't see architecture similar to those buildings.

Added a Routh.

Still kinda cold. I prefer a more vibrant look and more colors. At least alot of green surroundings.

yeah definitely...i was referring more to the design of the architecture than the mood of it. i'd certainly want to see more yellows, reds, and greens.

Not Reeve, but this kinda Superman: Charming, smiling, friendly, charismatic and confident.

I swear he was PERFECT. dude had the right charisma, the perfect tone to clark AND superman. I mean i dont think he will ever be topped

^ To be fair, that's just how Clark was written in the script. You cant just blame Chris Reeve for Clark's persona.

I don't blame him at all for making the disguise more effective. :P

Reeve's Clark was TOO awkward/nerdy/clumsy imo. I hope Snyder and Cavill take it down a notch without slipping into Dean Cain territory.

The act was taken down a notch or two as the movie series went on, most likely due to wanting Clark's relationships with Lana and Lacey to be more believable.

How I visualize. Superman was created during time when the world was in turmoil. Recession was at its worst, crime was soaring for many reasons, and we got the worlds first hero to deal with that. He was important and created for the importance of how we should behave in society and the repercussions if we didn't.

He was a figure created by two young Jewish men,to point out and deal with our societies flaws. Speaking against racism and slavery for the black community. That was a big step for that time, but it was a major flaw, even worse than today, and Superman dealt with it. Thtas why he was so important and meant something in the first place. But that movie and The Dark Knight, harnessed why Batman is needed in our society too.

In Batman Begins, Gotham was hit by bad recession, and I wish that could have been an issue specifically for a Superman film,as that was his issue, but Batsy got there first.

Superman Returns could have a been a movie about WHY Superman is a much needed influence on the world today, but it weren't unfortunately.

So I really hope Man Of Steel can learn something from them. Superman address the real issues of our world, what we suffer from, and be sort of the guiding light we need. He's so much more than a hero who fights Aliens and megalomaniacs,he's a hero because we look up to his influence and power of GOOD.

Cavill is going to be better than Reeve. Just because Man of Steel is going to be better than STM. Mark my words.

I'll be sure to remember this post when someone opens up the official "Rate and Review MOS Thread" here.lol

Not that I agree, but yeah, people need to stop idolizing Reeve and the Donner-movie as the definitive Superman-adaptation. I dont know what these people are even doing in here if they dont believe in the reboot.

One could argue that it's because of some people's inability to let go of Donner and Reeve's version of Superman that led towards them unfairly comparing that with anyone who donned the cape or played the character in live action afterward.

I know. I love the classic too, but this is just sad. I'm sure MOS will be a fine contemporary adaptation and Cavill will do great. I dont know what people are afraid of here. That it will be BETTER or something? So what. That wont take away from Reeve's performance.

You have to admit though, thus far there hasn't been much competition. :oldrazz:

One could only hope that after MOS is released, that it would be SO WELL RECEVIED that in future and much more father interpretations of Superman that doesn't feature Cavill, will be inspired from what MOS presented to the Superman lore and take liberties from MOS instead of going back to the Donnerverse for ideas like other interpretations have done so far.

I'd say George Reeves was good, but the others not so much. Christopher Reeve surpassed them all. I hope Cavill can be this generation's Superman.

There is just one thing I wish people would remember about Chris Reeve's Superman: Not everyone loves it!

Not all Superman fans love it. Not all movie fans love it. And very few young people love it. In fact it's often a subject of ridicule.

Sometimes I get the impression that it's just this unspoken rule that everyone loves Reeve's Superman and thinks he's amazing. Personally I don't. If STM was the only Superman I had encountered I would not be a Superman fan today. Sure I can look back fondly now and be glad of the things the film achieved, and there are things that I like about his portrayal that I think perhaps worked better in that time period than they do today; but I most certainly don't want any of that translating into a reboot.

Big toothy grins, waving at the camera, cheesy lines about safe ways to travel, dorkyness, awkward slow 'walk to the bedroom' scene... please just move on from this, and catch up with every single other Superhero movie that has managed to fall into the category of 'cool'.

I didn't say everyone likes Reeve's Superman. I know Cain is your favorite and that's fine.

I'm sorry, that wasn't directed at you specifically.

It's just frustrating when people are posting pictures of Reeve in a 'Visualizing the Superman Reboot' thread, and saying everything about his was perfect.

Dean Cain might be my fave, but I don't post pictures of him in reboot threads, because I don't WANT this reboot to be anything like LnC. I want something NEW!

Reeve was the best Superman so far imo, but not perfect. I liked Lois and Clark but Cain's Superman and Clark were too similar for my taste. I want a noticeable difference between reporter Clark and Superman, and I'm not asking for a goofy performance either.
