I think I going to go see again with a couple of friends most fans of action movies will be satisfied with this movie at least I think so.

I have heard the same thing by alot of people who are not fans. PWZ will pick up. It was badass, I bet it dwarfs dvd sales to jane punisher. Its not over.. I saw it twice to full theaters crowd cheering at face blown off scene. Silence of aww during gun battles, clapping and laughing during rocket scene. Word will come around. This was the version of the Punisher I wanted.

By Friday it should have $6 million something. If this weekend it does the same number as it did last weekend, or even if it manages to at least limp to $10 million, the film will be almost halfway there in easily getting its money back or more with dvd sales.

I would love to see that and I think its got the shot to do it. You can either see "earth stood still" or punisher this weekend, everything else has been out for awhile now. I think it will hike up a few spots. I would love to see another with Ray and crew. Jane would have only made it through a quarter of PWZ, he would have drank all the wild turkey killing an undercover..Joke. Im a huge fan of jane as the punisher

Ugh, here comes round two for the Punisher.... however, THIS weekend it's got some mild word of mouth, and it's still not really going up against a powerhouse. I don't know anyone excited for The Day the Earth Stood Still, and it's only got 20% on RT too. I'm sure it'll win the weekend (and if it doesn't, PWZ won't either) but hopefully it'll give us a good chance to see Warzone recoup some of it's losses.

I am not really looking forward to seeing the Day the Earth Stood Still and I am a sci fi fan, too.

Oh, and I did catch Punisher War Zone this past Monday evening with a couple of friends of mine and me and my one buddy (who is a Marvel fan as well)... loved this movie.

Personally, we both loved PWZ because the scenes were just down right outrageous and hilarious.

Plus, Ray Stevenson did a pretty descent representation of the Punisher. In fact, he kind of reminded me of the Punisher in the Return to Big Nothing Graphic Novel (Which I thought was kind of cool).

So, as gloomy as it sounds so far that the Punisher will make it's money back at the box office...

I really do hope that it at least licks its wounds back a bit (on the production costs) with the release of the DVD or something.

I think it will do well of DVD and Blu-Ray. I think a lot of the problems this movie had with the general audience is that there was little to no real marketing. LGF went the cheap way with internet ads and posters. I only ever saw 3 or 4 quick teaser ads on FOX. And with the economy and Christmas people just don't have the time or the money to hit theaters. people are depressed enough as it is, they don't want to see a revenge flick.

I dont know that could work in its favor as well...bad economy, christmas time = pissed people, PWZ could be a good bet.

I think the general audience didn't know who the actors were either which sometimes hurts a movie. Even though all of us on here know the actors the average joe might not and will pass on it just based on that. But like a lot of people said on here the DVD sales should do really good. It's a good solid action movie at it's core and a lot of people all ages like those type of movies.

Personally, I thought the PWZ trailer was gosh awful (in my opinion).

That and the fact, that probably a very few folks had seen this horrid trailer in the first place is never a good sign for those box office numbers.

Maybe that is why I enjoyed this movie so much.

I had really low expectations for it, going in.

Plus, to my delight the ridiculous action and cliche lines had me rolling on the floor and clapping with laughter.

Great stuff!

:yay:

I couldn't get enough of it.

Anyone who didn't get it (like I did)....

well, too each their own I guess.

I'll be seeing War Zone a third time on Friday, & I never see a movie more than once in theaters

LGF went the cheap way with internet ads and posters.

This movie just wasn't marketed to the general public. By relying on internet ads, they basically sold the film to the one demographic that couldn't buy tickets.

Of course, they still had older comicbook fans, but most of them stayed away due to the bad buzz. If LGF wanted to go the internet route, they should've at least made an effort to counter the negative buzz.

Um...doesnt Frost/Nixon come out this weekend as well????

wait...

*drinks kool-aid*

The word of mouth about War Zone is spreading! I bet tomorrows take will be better than today's!! That is prrof that the word of mouth is taking effect!

*rejoins reality*

I can see why this movie failed, LG and Marvel gave up on this before it even finished principal.

Anyway, I thought it was a nice, enjoyable, cheesy ass film, which will eventually become something of a cult hit later on. There's tons of films out there that didn't do squat at the box office and now are seen as gems. TOMBSTONE comes to mind just to name one, maybe HEAT as well.

Although I don't mean to compare this cheese film to those, it's just an example of how a film that didn't do well could become a cult hit.

Fight Club also comes to mind but once again only referring to the box office.

EDIT: Scratch that. Turns out it was only a bomb in the U.S.

The only difference is Tombstone, Heat and Fight Club were actually good movies, with good narratives and dialogue. PWZ is not on any level near those films.

To you maybe, but generally most people think it's a pretty bad movie. Even reviews that say they like it because of the violence say it's still a bad movie.

i wouldn't say it's bad. so bad it's good, maybe, even tho it's not all that good either. so it's mediocre at best. there are quite a few bad parts to it, but overall, i still find it a decent film.

Stevenson and the ridiculousness of the violence are really the only highlights of this film, everything else is pretty forgettable.

As far as the fandom is concerned, it ROCKS!!

That is the best bet this movie has though it still might do slightly better now that the shortest movie theater draw week is over.Me I believe it will do alot better on dvd and blu-ray in the same case as the increibe hulk supposly did.Plus like you said it is christmas time and movie tickets are high enough as it is.

Well, fanboys can be idiots. If they had their way they would have had Peter Parker rape someone in Spider-Man 3. Besides the thing I get from most Punisher fans, is that all they seem to care about is the body count and not a good story or dialogue or performances.

It is good. Period.:unishr:

Rogue, I liked PWZ as well but its no where near the quality of those films listed by Grundy. Those films are masterpieces. Warzone isn't.

But I enjoy the movie and that's all that matters.

...and I'm not saying it is as good as those. I'm just saying it's good in its own right.
