DFT, I think we all get you didnt like the movie.
And your point is?
As a big Punisher fan, it's hard to accept that yet again they screwed up what should be incredibly simple. They've scared away Thomas Jane who, while not a star, is at least recognisable to genre movie fans - which surely should be this film's audience?
They managed to alienate the original director, all the interesting follow ups, including the excellent John Dahl, they bastardised Hensleigh's promising script and turned it into a gaudy camp-fest where all the violence is played for laughs.
Basically, any sort of cult cache it could have had is ruined by hiring a hopelessly dim director, a total non-entity of a star, a terribly miscast villain (am I meant to believe that Dominic West is a good looking man?), the cheapest looking FX that make even Ichi The Killer's comedically bad gore look convincing and then marketing it so that almost no dialogue, no story and no intelligence is diplayed.
From top to bottom this film was a disaster. They aimed it at the teenage, gore-hound anime fan and alienated any sort of macho revenge movie credentials it could have had.
So, yes, I dislike it. I dislike it because it's lazy, obvious and crass. Comic book adaptations have come a long way since The Crow showed you could make something comic book and palatable for a mainstream audience.
We've got The Dark Knight up for Oscars (as little as they mean), we've had X2 given great reviews from serious film critics, we had solid responses for Iron Man. Now we've got this DVD-level trash.
The box office tells you everything you need to know about this film.
