So who played Moriarty?

they really cheated us in not giving some sort of superstar cameo reveal. I was expecting Russell Crowe or something to show up at the end.

It was rather deflating we didn't get an awesome cameo for Moriarty.

But who was the voice and who was the man in the shadows?

Wiki claims
it was someone named Ed Tolputt

I thought the movie was good. Good writing, good story, a lot of cool detective work and mysteries and a few easter eggs throughout. Not perfect, but like always, RDJ saves the film. I'd pay to see it again. I give it a 8/10

I'm just disappointed they couldn't lock down a big name at the last second for a dynamite cameo that would've had the audience roaring.

Besides that I thought the movie was perfect.

I would bet they'll replace him with a bigger name when a sequel gets started.
I'm happy with how much they played up the continuation of the Holmes/Moriarty/Adler angle. It was almost played up TOO much. A sequel would most definitely need to be made or all of it would be in vain.

BTW;

Trailers shown on my print:

-The Wolfman
-Cop Out
-Season of the Witch
-Clash of the Titans
-Inception
-Iron Man 2

I'm pretty sure they're the same, but can someone tell me what song played during the bare knuckle boxing scene and the end credits?

IDK about the credits, but the boxing scene was "The Dubliners- The Rocky Road To Dublin"

if ya find it, shoot me a PM please?

I disagree. It was a smart move not casting Moriarty immediately. Because now they can freely think about who can play him.

Personally, I'm still pulling for Brad Pitt for Moriarty.

Rachel, the chemistry between them was good enough, but if it went any further, it would of been the typical love interest relationship you see in other films. It was an intelligent flirtation and an admiring one.

Agreed. I thought their relationship was very well played.

I hate set up for sequel that never come(Flash Gordon, Big Trouble in Little China, ect, ect)

Amen to that.

I definitely like the idea of Pitt as Moriarty. The way they went about it was great as it allows them some flexibility.

I'd love a good cat and mouse game as far as who is really Moriarty in the next film. Have someone we think is the real deal throughout, only to find he's a pawn.

I've been thinking of set pieces to include in the sequel.

I would love to see an opera house scene with Holmes doing something to stop whomever by doing some crazy ****. Like going on the chandelier or appearing on stage to either disguise himself or reveal to the opera house the bad guy's plan.

I'd also love to see a slaughter house scene. Maybe one of Moriarty's henchmen is some grisly psychotic knife throwing expert.

And I wouldn't mind if it took place in the winter. Hell, they could even travel out of London. Maybe Paris or something.

Just saw this today, and enjoyed it considerably. RDJ and Jude Law didn't disappoint, but I was a little underwhelmed with Irene Adler's screentime and relevance--
as well as being cheated out of that frilly little dominatrix getup in all the trailers. :cmad:

Overall, though a fun movie.
Anyone else get an "Indiana Jones" vibe when Sherlock was facing off against that big guy in the shipyard? Reminded me a lot of the Temple of Doom sequence on the conveyor belt.

I'm loving the good response I'm seeing to this movie! Wow, I feel like I should have voted 1 just because it's not a SHH poll unless someone does. lol

Or to the English countryside, so Holmes could wear the classic deerstalker hat and coat. :yay:

I thought the film was great, and I was pretty wary of it. It actually reminded me a bit of the Mentalist. For the sequel I'd like to see Mycroft . I heard that Brad Pitt is rumored but i'd love to see Johnny Depp Holmes arch nemesis .

I don't even want to see Holmes wearing the hat and coat. Not even a wink or glimpse of it. I think it contradicts what this new Holmes is all about.

I happened to catch one of the Basil Rathorne films on TCM before I saw the new film yesterday. I didn't like how it took place in the 40's. Then they went to Washington DC and Holmes quoted something from Winston Churchill. Then there was a war bonds message at the end. It was so hamfisted it made me go.

this movie was great!!..

it wasnt as ridiculous as i had imagined.
that explosion scene was jaw dropping =O

one complaint is that its sometimes hard to make out what sherlock is saying with his mumbling thick accent.

Like I said, I consider that a compliment to RDJ's acting.

did anyone else enjoy the score as much as me ? hans zimmer is a genius !

One of the things my group of friends deceided unanimously after seeing the film was that we need to get the soundtrack :yay:

I saw the film yesterday. It was quite entertaining. I loved the slow motion deductive reasoning scenes. I wish there were a few more of these scenes but, overall the film was good. The soundtrack was unique and felt appropriate for the settings. My main complaints are Adler getting too much screentime, Sherlock's mumbling accent, and the final confrontation with Lord Blackwood could have been better. I give the film 8.5/10 and look forward to the sequel.

Trailers shown
Iron Man 2
The Bounty Hunter
Cop Out
Clash of the Titans
Date Night

The score is great. And that song in the boxing scene is damn catchy. I was humming it to myself all day yesterday.

I'm looking forward to checking this out. Hopefully I'll get the chance to catch it somewhere in the upcoming two weeks. :)
