I acknowledge that Burton was the pioneer in bringing a darker and more serious approach to Batman on screen, that he created a great visual identity for these movies, and that many still love his work. I actually just saw Sweeney Todd on DVD, and quite enjoyed it. But if I were to pick a Batman on film, it´d be Nolan´s.

Can you believe he banned the talk of anything negative about TDK?! How insane is that?! He claims its "new people who come to stir the pot" but in the "Complaints Thread" most of the posters had hundreds if not thousands of posts! They certainly werent n00bies who just came to bash the movie!

Wow. I think TDK was near perfect, but even I can acknowledge that it's got its flaws.

Exactly! Same with me! There were tons of threads praising it, and the poster made a topic called "Complaints", I thought that was a great idea, keep all the negativity in one place you know? Well Jett bans the guy who created it (he had about 900 posts) and deletes the threads after it goes for about 15 pages!

But here comes the best part...Jett claims "BOF is not the place for fanboy nitpicking"

Exactly. He puts himself out to be the greatest Batman fan, and NO ONE else can say anything unless they agree with him. Even in his pictures, you can just tell he's barely interested, he's just in it for the money. Personally, I hope he reads these boards, so he can get a damn clue about what it's like to be a real Batman fan.

That review of Batman Returns is downright embarrassing. It's like he set out to bash the hell out of it instead of review it. I didn't see a single positive thing that he said about it. I know BR isn't everybody's cup of tea, but it doesn't deserve to be treated like it's Batman and Robin.

Ok, well, I disagree with the OP. Batman was the main component in this film, and his storyline influenced everyone else's. Yes, Ledger will get the most recognition, but he's a new character, and all new characters have been introduced with this much anticipation in almost all movies in the comic-book movie world. Batman drove the story and ended it with a decision that will affect the lives of the citizens of Gotham as well as himself.

Isn't this thread about Batman's screen time in TDK and not about jett bashing? I know a lot of people have problems with him, but come on, just avoid his site. I go there for batman news, and its pretty decent for that. If you can't stand his boards, stay away, come here or the jow forums, which is great btw. It is his site, he can run it however he wants, it gets annoying when everything gets off topic and people constantly bash him for the same thing over and over. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but do it somewhere else.

With that said, I thought batman's screen time was just fine. I was actually surprised about the amount of time two-face was around, i thought it would have been more of a cameo, sort to say. I was a little upset about joker's screen time, i would have liked a little bit more, but that is mainly because I didn't want to see Heath's amazing performance end, knowing he'll never get to play the role, or any role again. (besides dr. pronasis or however its spelt)

I guess you missed the whole point of not ripping on people.

So does anyone else think this thread is kind of pointless? I mean it turned from talking about batman's screen time to ripping on people.

A hero is the greatest when his enemy is seemingly unbeatable. No one had seen in Gotham a criminal like the Joker. He had no logic goals or reasons, he played games for the sake of playing games, he cheated and deceited at all turns, and in the end it was Batman who understood his logic and caught him. The whole point of Joker was to challenge Batman, challenge his symbol, his methods, his moral choices, he conceived a brilliant plan to do so, and Batman still outcheated him without breaking his code.

Batman never understood his logic, he just used his phone sonar device to stop him, he never understood any of the joker's motives, that's why alfred had to tell him that story.

It's not like they are at a stalemate where one can't get rid of the other (a true balance), the joker just doesn't want to get rid of bats, he knows his identity, everything about him, he has the complete and total upper hand.

as for the victory, I believe it were the people of gotham who had the greatest victory over the joker by not blowing themselves up on the boats, that was his plan and they caused it to fail. Bats just stopped plan B (no one cares about plan b).

The joker won the rest of his main goals, taking out the mob, corrupting dent, killing the judges, gordon stopped him killing the mayor but he did kill batman and dent's love all in one sweep. The only thing i can say bats stopped were the swat team taking out the hostages in clown masks and the joker detonating the boats at the end. It's hardly a balance.
