Thats NOT what I really want (A spider-man knockoff)

What I really wanted was a live-action version of Superman: TAS...more or less, and eye-popping visuals.

To be honest, a T2 on steroids as far as action.

OK.

Still no thanks :D (that said i like Tas , and i like a lot terminator )

Ps: but the movie had plenty of eye-popping visuals :yay: not up to your taste ;)

Firstly...Can I just say I love you? Hahaha.

Secondly, I completely and whole heartedly agree with everything you say. fans of Singer-Man can throw as many excuses as they want for why Superman Returns barely made its money back and why Spider-Man makes almost a BILLION dollars EVERY TIME out of the gate, but its like this...

#1 Nobody likes "Rebirths" with "Vague History" what that really means is "Plot Holes" and "Bad Writing"

#2 Had Singer bothered to research the comics instead of copying Donner like a slacker who didnt study for his final exam, perhaps his film would have been great too.

#3 Whatever, your thoughts about the Spider-Man franchise, those films are damn near perfect. They do it how it was mean't to be done. FAITHFUL Character Driven Dramatic story WITH Super Villain? Check. Amazing Action? Check. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but it seems that if you wanted a superhero franchise as popular as Spiderman...maybe you shoulda took a page outta their play book instead of making a Lame Story about a Superman who cries, knocks up woman, and battles rock. Yes, I said...his biggest challenge was a ROCK. LAME.

Have you seen those toy commercials? "Superman with crystal smashing Action." Yeah...a kid is gonna beg for that action figure.

*Mr Rogers Voice* Now what have we learned today children? That if we want to make a superhero film widely accepted and hailed by the general public and critics alike that we shoulda more strictly follow THE SOURCE MATERIAL, EMBRACE THE SPIRIT OF THE CHARACTERS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, NOT WHAT YOU THINK THEY WANT. PERIOD.

This is all I have to say on the subject, although Im sure someone is gonna say Im completely wrong and that Superman has always been a boring story about a dude leaving his ex-girlfriend only to return and find her shacked up with a new guy and raising his bastard son.

SR wasnt a bad movie, it just wasnt a Superman Movie. It was Intergalactic Dawson's Creek. It woulda fit just dandy with the CW's new Fall Line up. Coming soon "Krypton's Creek"

*singing loudly* I dont wanna wait, for our lives to be over...

Hah, that's great, I was already rubbing some people the wrong way with my comments, but this could very well give them an aneurysm.

Did I promise the red would get brighter? ....uh no...maybe you're getting me confused with somebody. And I like I said, you'll probably hate what Singer does, I don't promise it'll be good. WB would want to know where Singer plans to take the storyline involving Jason before he creates the character. Singer would've been thinking about Jean becoming Phoenix even before filming on the first movie began. Oh, and your words have been marked and quoted.
nicely covering your back。

I didn't see any problem with the particular approach Singer had with the film. It was a more intelluctual Superman film. It had action in its own way and it established itself as such for that film.

The sequel will be different. Just remember X2.
intelluctual??? how???
btw, i didn't see superman have used any of his intelligent to resolve the problems or while confronting Lex Luthor. he knew that the crystal & kryptonite were stolen. he knew that lex knows the kryptonite effect on him and the location of his FOS. and he still so stupidly fell into the trap.

pls, WB, Singer or whoever writers.... pls give a brain to superman. pls.

Mua Hahahahahahaha..."Action in its own way"

Thats like saying "Well, she has a nice personality..." And we all KNOW what that means. LOL. I'm just saying...back in 1938 if Shuster and Siegel had written Action Comics the way Singerman turned out they woulda had to change the name of the book to "Action-less Comics" and instead of throwing a car at gangsters on the cover he could have been flying away from Lois real fast with tears in his eyes.

Not exactly Super or a Manly.

Damn, dude! Brutal, absolutely brutal. :wow: :oldrazz:

yup :yay: funny :yay:

But completly wrong :woot:

I didn't saw him running away when there was gangsters in Sr , quite the oppposite.:hyper:

You guys are spot on, this was the WRONG man for this job. It was like giving a women that doesn't like comic books full control over making a new Superman movie. First she makes a costume that would fit a girl much better and then she copies something done 30years ago and ads in her "Days of Our Lives" Soap Opera twist.
It's the WB's biggest mistake of all time giving this clown a second chance.

Yeah...you're right, he just got his ass whooped by 2 dudes and Kumar on his break from white castle. He didnt even get a punch in. I can't say I have every superman comic...but I'm fairly certain that the S-Man knows how to defend himself just a little bit...

Well , considering the context it was pretty hard to fight back .. but anyways ( we will not agree ;) ) it's just that maybe , somebody wanted to make him more human and relatable:cwink:

guess that way he gained new fans? ( including me) look at the Dvd rentals :yay:

well, in SR, superman is for people to kick on his ass. that's the whole point of the movie. that's all singer's sadistic intention for the movie. that's the only thing you would remember after the movie.

Kryptonite renders him defenseless and he had four guys kicking the crap out of him. What did you guys think would happen?

lol.now I like spidey and all, but you can hardly compare him stopping a train in spidey 2, to superman lifting an island the size of new york city in S.R.....thats like compareing picking up a BB, to lifting an elephant...spidey would have blew a gasket even thinking about trying that.Superman was weakened from kryptonite, he thought he was gonna die, he went back anyway, and did his thing, and nearly DID die.....he never thought about quitting either.

Okay, Granted taking on 4 dudes is difficult...I'm just saying, Superman of all people shoulda been able to drop at least Kumar...At least! haha.

there was Kryptonite everywhere that made him weak and he was getting his ass kicked up and down yet with the every same kryptonite all around him he lifted the whole island

how the hell did he do that how, just how

Supes went underneith N.K...under the sea bed to lift it..if you'll notice when he is lifting N.K. at first, their is no kryptonite showing. As he lifts it higher the "K" starts growing out through the bottom, and thats when he starts getting weaker, and eventually passes out and falls....plus it wasnt pure "K", the more it grew, the more it got diluted (at least I think so anyway)

I liked Returns more than the first film. I found the first film to be dull, boring, not interesting. Returns was a great way to entertain. It was suspenseful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, this is coming from a Spider-Man fan. But, in truth, I would rate the films in the following order.

1: Superman Returns
2: Superman II
3: Superman

SR made me enthusiastic about the next sequel. I can't wait.

Weird, huh?

I think they should just forget the first film. Wait a few more years so people forget the mediocrity of SR. Maybe not re-cast Rooth. Just make sure Luthor, Lois and the kid are not in it. Focus the story on something else new baddies. And of course make sure Superman has the right(bright) costume and two new writers.

OMG! the movie didn't adhere perfectly to the comics?! ah!!!

seriously, get over it. returns was a good movie, whether or not you dug the kid. who cares if it wasn't in the comics? they'll never make a movie with superman blowing out an entire star with his ice breath, either, is that bad?

there are a lot of things in the comics that would suck on screen. get over your little comic book stories, and shut up.

did singer get his idea from da vinci code?
so lois lane is a ****e?

but people didnt fund SR bad. so why would they do this? they can not ignore SR because some fans didnt like it. this is not hulk.

yup.
