so TS happened because they didnt have a tentpole movie? JL would also happen becasue they didnt have a tentpole movie?

so if history repeats if in 3 years they dont have a tentpole movie then they will maybe force a new superman movie . but that of course doesnt mean that it would be a bad movie . IMO you dont need 5 or 10 years for a good script. some people think that if you spend 4 or 5 years MORE then it will be better.

No, not really. Terminator Salvation was produced by the indie company Halcyon Company, and not by Warner Bros.

Warners only released the flick in the US, while Sony handled distrib in other countries. So, while Warners may have had a say in the release date, the Halcyon Company financed the flick and therefore decided when to make it.

Anyone else catch the Bryan Singer interview in this months Total Film? It sounds like he could still be very involved.

When asked if he was doing another Superman movie, his response was:

"I dont know....... There are still issues....I just......I just dont know. I dont necessarily.....I dont know. Its one of there things where....Its so weird talking about stuff unless i'm about to ramp up and shoot it. But theoretically I'll do this other film." the other film being The Prisoners.

I doesnt confirm or deny he is off the project officially, which indicates to me he may still be involved in some capacity.

aha this was already posted.

we have to remember that Singer can not talk to the press.

I think that was so non-committal that it could be taken either way, but after Valkyrie's underwhelming performance--both critically and commercially--it's just not likely that he's still involved.

Uh, Valkyrie got good reviews overall and was actually a surprise box-office success.

It holds a solid 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and did a respectable $83-million domestic and $200-million worldwide. To its credit, it's the #4 World War II film of all time. Not bad per-say, but like I said, underwhelming.

Superman Returns' box-office performance is what I'd call underwhelming (i.e. good but nothing fantastic and below projections). On the other hand, Valkyrie wound up opening to higher numbers than expected after everyone had already written it off as a flop - "supposed" to do around $18 million but pulled in $30 million.

Well, okay. All I'm saying is that if Warners was looking to see if Singer was dependable for either a blockbuster or a prestige picture, I'd say it fell a bit short of what I'd be looking for if I were them.

Valkyrie's box-office success had nothing to do with whether or not Singer is going to direct the next Superman film.

let me guess since it was not nominated for best picture it was not good enough?
i am hearing that the movie is fantastic.

It did better than The Prestige, so luckily, WB wasn't waiting on that to give Nolan another shot either.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but if you look at Rotten Tomatoes, it got a pretty mixed response. So mixed that I'd look at it some days and it would be "fresh" one day and "rotten" the next. I did hear it was pretty good and it looked good; but apparently it wasn't good enough.

Valkyrie was a great movie that has been very successful for the studio, but I doubt it had any bearing on WB's decision to re-hire Singer or not.

It was somewhat successful, yes, but not successful enough for Warners to say, "yeah, this guy's still a hot director." The commercial aspect wasn't exactly phenomenal, and the critical response was even more disappointing given that Singer's supposed strength was his ability to make "critically acclaimed" films that happen to be about superheroes. When he didn't have anyone else's cape to hide behind, he did good but not great, and I think it hurt him at WB.

Justice League MUST be Live-Action. It'd be a dream come true. :woot:

Yea i would so love for a live action jl film but with all the issues wb has with the other characters getting off the ground in a live action film. Doing a fully cgi film(cartoony or photorealistic cgi) seems to be the best option for us fans to ever seen anything in the near future ie 2-4yrs period.

I'm not a big singer fan but to be fair, I saw it yesterday and LOVED it. Its got Lots of suspense and drama, which is what he's good at.

WB was not waiting for the success or non success of Valkyrie to figure out if they wanted to bring Singer back or not. Whatever their decision is or was, had or has nothing to do with Valkyrie, so I can't for the life of me figure out why you keep bringing that up.

Valkyrie? I thought it was good but not fantastic. It felt like a crowd-pleaser so I'm not surprised it did well at the BO.
