WB/DC: It's All Part Of The Plan

That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I'd rather not bring someone on board who needs to be watched and backed up by another director to ensure he doesn't completely eff up the movie.

:hehe: You people need to lighten up man. Hollywood use to be great man. Why? Cause fans enjoyed movies. Did not complain alot. so Spirit was bad not every movie gonna be good. Give him another chance. So what if he has help everyone needs help. Nolan had help. He could make an awesome Superman flick.

My non-approval of Frank Miller for Superman has nothing to do with his directorial ability, and everything to do with the fact that I've read The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, and All-Star Batman and Robin. I don't want to see Miller's Superman on screen.

Why? Cause Superman be different?

No, because he makes Superman out to be some kind of idiot, blindly following whomever is in authority. That's NOT Superman. Miller either doesn't get the character, or he needed to fabricate this version as a foil to his Batman. It worked well-enough for the story he was telling in DKR and DKSA, but I don't want to see that version on film.

He goes out of his way to show Superman as a dumb brute believing in what Miller sees as silly ideals.

I honestly can't take a writer seriously who doesn't show more respect for Superman. He belongs to that group of people who don't realize, or refuse to acknowledge, that there probably wouldn't be superheroes existing as they do today if it weren't for the influence Superman had. Yes, Batman is as much in dept to Superman as all of the others.

A Miller Superman film would be awful. The very thought makes me nauseous. Miller turns anything that isn't his own creation into a Millerized version. It's all the same story. The Spirit was horrible, not only as a film but as an adaptation of Will Eisner's character. For WB to hire Miller the person would have to be drunk, on crack AND brain dead not realize that Miller is only right for Miller characters. His work since the mid-Eighties has been the exact same thing, AND if it's not his own stuff he's bastardizing existing characters.

Oh, maybe you like Miller.

I'd take Bryan Singer again over Miller.

The Spirit was by far one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. I mean it was GhostRider bad...not only would I refuse to see a Superman movie directed by him I'd actually consider picketing WB for hiring him.

I honestly believe that Frank Miller is a bad person and that his so-called stories are harmful to humanity. I have no trouble calling him a complete tool and wishing bad things on him careerwise. And no I've never met him and no he hasn't killed any of my family members but I still dislike him because of his obvious disgusting sexist views. Any good thing he created must have been by accident and most certainly is horribly flawed because of his gross attitudes.

Gosh...Frank Miller really has tarnished his reputation with The Spirit. And to think they were planning sequels...
What a hit the Potter franchise has become huh? Half Blood Prince was probbaly the most balanced movie of them all also. Yates did an excellent job IMO.

You make it sound it's some kind of over night success?:p They could dress Harry Potter in drag and people would still come flocking to see it.:hehe:

I'll just point out "Catwoman" even though I've never seen it. Bodes well doesn't it. By the way I agree with you about not wanting him near any superhero ever. Superman in particular.

What sexist stuff?

I've only read his Batman graphic novels and they were great.

WHat have you read?

Year One? Turned Catwoman into a prostitute.

DKR? Women with swastikas on their breasts? Not only sexist but immature as well.

Miller is all about shock value.

He has a prostitute in every story or gratuitous sex and violence.

His first arc on Daredevil and BOrn Again were good. As was Year One, except for the Catwoman as prostitute. After they he starts repeating himself.

Yeah, I wouldn't want Miller anywhere near a Superman movie. The guy has lost his mind as of late (The Spirit, Batman vs. Osama Bin Laden) and even when he wasn't a nutbar, his style is more suited to grittier stuff. I didn't mind what he did with Superman in The Dark Knight Returns because it was really just a small part of the story. By my God, all you have to do is read The Dark Knight Stikes Again to know why the hell he should never, ever take on Superman again.

He pretty much turned Superman into a candyass who becomes the government's b**ch because Brainiac and Luthor stole the bottle city of Kandor. There was also this lame love story between Supes and Wonder Woman that didn't work very well for whatever reason. He crowded that story with so many DC characters and somehow managed to make all of them suck. He was trying to write Kingdom Come but it turned out like Kingdom Crap.

I thought he was a government stooge in the first one. Although not completely. So even worse. I heard it was bad. Do you know about "All Star Batman and Robin"? I've heard he makes him moronic and doesn't know he can fly or something. I think I saw a picture of him running on water.

I gave up on All Star Batman after the third issue, so I can't comment on that. But it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Chapter 10 of All Star is simply AMAZING.

I hope that they still want to use Morrison for a Superman movie.

im actually fine with miller putting ****es in everything and hyper-sexualizing women. he's coming from the school of hard boiled dirty noir, and these things were staples of such story telling. but now a days, he cant even do those things well. he's become a weak parody of his former self.

All-Star Superman or All-Star Batman and Robin?

I ask b/c this thread has dereailed into Frank Miller bashing and he' s doing ASBaR. I think most everyone agrees that Morrison ASS was a great series.
