It was.

Mark Waid pitched a film version of Superman:Birthright as well. Why they didn't go that route is beyond me. That or a film version of TAS is needed.

In my opinion, Birthright is how Smallville SHOULD have been done.

I'd rather have Mark Waid involved with a Superman movie than John or Morrison, same goes for The Flash. And I'd rather have Jeph Loeb as well.

Agreed instead sv was an esleworld ******** type tv show.

I could go with that, since the only part of Birthright that was any good was the pre-Superman stuff. Once we get to Metropolis, the story goes downhill fast.
I would be OK with taking the first half of the miniseries and a base for the first half/pre-Metropolis part of the movie. One Clark moves to Metropolis though, I'd rather go with Man of Steel or Superman: TAS, or some combination of the three.

I'm happy about the Flash news but the Superman news (or lack there of) is lame but expected.

I think I'm going to retire from the Superman boards for awhile. It's become dreadfully apparent that we are not going to get another Superman film for many years. At least in the 90's and early 00's, it was in development and there was always something new to talk about, but right now, Superman in film is pretty much dead. Farewell folks. I'll see you around the Hype.

It does seem like we are screwed for a atleast a few years more, thats why I don't visit these boards as much.

You won't be gone for long...these boards are like crack.:oldrazz:

I still have some hope, although it is slim.

I am just going to post my unfortunet negative thoughts on what is going to happen

I cant imagine they will be taking any risks with making this movie and it certainly seems like its going to come out rushed with this whole legal thing going on.

I think we will get a once off movie once again.. a bit like how Terminator Salvation looked as though it was going to definitely going to become some great franchise boost...but it wasnt

It will most likely be a pretty well known actor this time round, i don't necessarily agree with this but it just seems to be the safer option if they want to make a bit of money back.

And also some director that has done something in the last year or is about to release something that is pretty fun and exciting will most likely land the job. Maybe Neil Blomkamp the guy that is doing the District 9 movie. someone we wont expect.

i should stop

Well, if WBs indeed going to make it, then they should (imo) go ballz to the wall and get a top notch director. It will be make it or break it time.

We will not get a Supes film until proably the 2020s and its better off that way after Superman Returns.

yeah but even in he 90s and 00s had to wonder when they was gonna make a Superman film all these Superman film ideas getting shut down and put in development hell.

2020'S?? No way they will wait that long. I consider a long wait to be like 2014 or there about.

What WB's needs to do is combine aspects of different Superman stories and come up with a kick ass film.

Use Superman For All Seasons, Superman Birthright, Geoff Johns Superman/Braniac story arc, All Star Superman, some stuff from the Death of Superman as inspiration for the next Supes film.

really?

so what if the movie is not good after 20 years? dont tell me that this wont happen. WB wanted Burton and Cage for superman. 10 years later a lot of fans still werent happy and there is no sequel. what then? whait again for 10 years?
i rather have a superman in 3 years.

It is. Even though nothing's happening with the character this is one of the few boards I feel like I have to read everyday.

HP clicked with people. like star trek or IM or even TF that people dont like.
superman needs to '' click'' with people again.

What is your avatar? Is that Johnny Deep or ELijah Wood? Wasn't they suppose to play Mad Hatter in Batman Triumpt?

Well hey man I want Frank Miller for Superman. I take a chance at watching a great or horrendous movie. Besides cannot get any worst then The Spirit. Besides Miller can have help like he did with 300 and Sin City.

That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I'd rather not bring someone on board who needs to be watched and backed up by another director to ensure he doesn't completely eff up the movie.

My non-approval of Frank Miller for Superman has nothing to do with his directorial ability, and everything to do with the fact that I've read The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, and All-Star Batman and Robin. I don't want to see Miller's Superman on screen.
