WB/DC: It's All Part Of The Plan

Considering what Routh and Singer have said, Man of Steel will have a super powered foe like Brainiac or Metallo for Superman to fight and will be more than just an homage to Superman the Movie.

So your claims that Singer has no balls and that it won't be a Superman movie for the 21st century kinda have no basis :o
i disagree... we know absolutely nothing about what the sequel will be like, and going from his history record with X-Men, which I hated, it's going to be the same stuff all over again.

Only Singer knows what the sequel will be like. Let's not jump to conclusions, everyone.

No simply because the people that were interested in the Da Vinci Code or in the Lord of the Rings aren't automatically interested in the Hobbit or in Angels and Demons. And this for many reasons.
Really? I loved the LOtR's, and i'm equally excited for the hobbit.

Since BATMAN BEGINS, WB has been "consulting" with various DC editors, etc on their films. DC provided a wealth of comic book source material for both movies, that much I know.

Whether DC went along with the idea, I'm not sure.

but singer can't deliver exciting, mind blowing action. his is always dry and uninspiring.

I think DC went along with providing any info they could to the studio. It looks to me like Nolan and his team for Batman Begins used DC for reference, all Singer and his crew did was watch STM.

Wow. I really didn't think Speed Racer was going to do THAT bad.

I figure it was going to be bad, but I thought it might make a lot because of kid. Kids can tend to love movies that are too dumb & colorful. But again, serve them right to WB for thinking it's a good idea to make a live-action movie of a weird Japanese cartoon. I imagine Dragonball is next on the list for FOX. :oldrazz:

Of course!! Which mean MoS could be an improvement over SR. After all, X2 was a big improvement over X-Men: longer, more filthy muties, better action, etc. ;) :D:up:

^Exactly. I agree with his opinion and have said the same thing serveral times before but I always try to get across that it's my opinion.

We do have some idea based on what they've said. Both Routh and Singer have said that the action will be upped this time around and that there most likely will be a supervillain for Superman to fight and they'll go beyond just homaging the Donner films.

Also I can understand the hatred for Superman Returns, but damn the X-Men movies :wow:

I love the first two X-Men movies, especially X-2. And if that's what Singer wants to do with Superman, well I can't wait!!

I TRUST IN SINGER.

He loves and cares for the character, that's clear to me, since I love what he did with SR.

Knowing that Guillermo Del Toro will be directing the Hobbit makes it an automatic must watch for me.

"How do you wanna get a handle of this character, Bryan? Shall we skim through the last 70 years of comic books?" "Nah, we'll just watch the movie." "One movie?" "Sure. What more do you need?"

:cmad:.

WB really needs to make a goal: Make the public (and haters) fall in love with Superman again. It's that simple.

Honestly I don't think that most people hated Superman Returns, I just think that it underwhelmed most people. Superman comes back after all this time and with new technologies and all we get is, no matter if you love the movie or not, a rehashed plot from the first movie with no Superfights included? Sorry but although I like mySuperhero films to be fairly smart and have good story (none of which SR had IMHO) I also like to see my hero punching things inbetween saving folk.

bingo. and stop showing us those obvious CGI superman close-ups.

the problem isn't he only watched a movie or didn't go through the comic.

You can see comic book influences in SUPERMAN RETURNS, just as you can see them in BATMAN BEGINS. Chris Nolan also made major changes to the mythology, just as Singer did.

I wonder what storylines from the comics Singer would state he used as a reference for Superman Returns. We have Nolan on record stating "The Man Who Falls", "Year One" and "The Long Halloween" were influences. What storylines as stated by Singer were used as a foundation for Superman Returns. I know he (or at least his writers) used the nice pictures that appears in certain issues such as Superman lifting the car and hovering in space but what were the specific storylines that he followed that can be seen throughout SR.

What were the specific storylines that can be seen through BATMAN BEGINS? There really aren't any. BATMAN BEGINS bore little resemblance to either THE MAN WHO FALLS, YEAR ONE or THE LONG HALLOWEEN. Nolan and his crew just took elements from them here or there. Truth be told, Goyer took more from BATMAN #0 than Nolan did from any of those other storylines.

The obvious storylines that informed SUPERMAN RETURNS would be WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MAN OF TOMORROW, SUPERMAN: EXHILE, and any of the RETURN TO KRYPTON stories, as well as THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN.

Nolan is on record stating what storylines influenced BB. Can you lead me to a quote where Singer specifically cites "WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MAN OF TOMORROW, SUPERMAN: EXHILE, and any of the RETURN TO KRYPTON stories, as well as THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN" as having informed SR?

The difference is that Nolan used the Batman stories from the comics and with Goyer, crafted and amazing movie faithfull to the character. Singer and his two sidekicks, used the George Reeves serials, The Richard Donner movie and some concepts from the comics and created a ****ty movie that is an embarassment to Superman.
