WB/DC: It's All Part Of The Plan

Three writers hired to get projects going b/w DC and WB. They still want to develop a Superman property as Horn pointed out earlier. The court ruling info just happened...

More positives than negatives imo considering how bad and quiet things have been previously.

Might be quiet but something is going on with Supes right?

Some of the positive reviews I read for SR read like they had been typed up before the reviewer had even seen the film, with them basing everything on a few different equations.

1. It has the director of X-Men 2 and Usual Suspects
2. Kevin Spacey, whom is always good, is in it
3. they've gotten some kid that Superman looks a little like Chris Reeve
4. and it's Superman so it must have some cool stuff in it

therefore the positive RT rating for the film is pretty bogus.

"What hurt us is that the reviews and so on for the Superman movie did not get the kind of critical acclaim that Batman got,''

they mean from the general public and fans? because the official reviews were pretty good for a comicbook movie.

but isnt this normal that WB says that its part of the plan? would a studio really ''say we are just going with the flow''?
i am sorry but from 2000 (x-men) to 2009 they didnt realese a lot of DC movies.

Meh. You cant expect them to admitt they've been sitting on their a$$es doing almost nothing. At least now they are moving forward it seems, finally.

If they would have leaked out stuff here and there, like the hiring of the three writers, then they wouldnt have had people complaining about them doing nothing.

until i see them filming its nothing to me . :hehe:
and i mean filming for at least 3 weeks.building sets and casting is not enough :wow::cwink:

I do like that they appear to have some sort of idea about the direction they wanna go with their properties now, BUT, Superman is still what I want to see.

Eh, same old stuff from WB as far as I'm concerned. While they are talking and making up lame excuses, Marvel has their movies set and ready to go. It's all hot air until I hear that cameras are rolling.

That's the impression I'm getting, too...seems to me we've a lot of this before.

I just had a very disturbing thought.

Could this Bizarro Superman film be WB/DC's attempt to put out a Superman film into development by 2011 to save the Superman rights...

I wouldn't put it past them, now that you mention it...

heh. I can honestly say that I would skip that, no joke.

Good to hear about Johns, Morrison, and Wolfman. I'm guessing that the flash will be next depending on how green lantern goes. Negatives from that article, the bizzaro script, I can't believe they would even waste money on developing that further.

Although with the comic writers as consultants and at least some input i would imagine they would want to do something like an origin story. I knew Barry Allen coming back seemed like it was a corporate decision. Also, I'm even more interested to see johns' superman secret origin because if it is well received I would be surprised if they use it.

I'm going to guess that the 'and so on' part of that quote is important. Maybe it refers to the polarization of the fan base and the general audience's lack of attachment to the film- data not seen in reviews or the 76% on RT, and the growing disdain for the film over time and that the reboot talk gained favor with a number of fans and professionals like Morrison and Waid etc... spoke out against SR.

Possible. Except for the fact that FNJ said the WB was hesitant about doing the sequel to Batman Begins for the same reasons. I'm not saying SR was beloved or anything but the growing polorization was for the reason of letting the movie sit out there. People hate Smallville but they continue to tune in because it's Superman. Most fans would have rallied for a better sequel if the WB had given the confidence to them like a coach and his team. Of course they look tired and tensions grow if the coach doesn't know what he's doing.

Bizzaro Superman??? Superman needs a real opposing villian!
NOT A ******!!!

so....ummm.....is it safe to say that WB plans on "rebooting" the Superman franchise ( "try again" ) and not make a SR sequel?????

Dude, post that on an image hosting site like Photobucket or Imageshack, and load it onto the site through that. They don't like hotlinking around here.

The Bizarro Superman news really has me confused. It sounds like a dumb idea that will probably end up going nowhere. If it does get made, I don't see it making much money. But yeah, it might be WB's way of making a Superman film before they lose the rights to. Strange.

Speaking of Strange though, I REALLY like the idea of an Adam Strange movie. That has a lot of potential now with the general audiences somewhat renewed interest in sci-fi films.

I don't get where the whole "THey are making Bizzaro Supes to keep the rights" is coming from. C'mon people you know WB. THey are going to throw a lot of **** out there hoping something sticks. If it happens it will be a spoof or an animated film in all likelyhood. I never read the comic and people in other threads have said it was good, but seriously... we are talking about live action movies. Not made for Halloween animated features.

Eh, just from the fact that its current title is "Bizarro Superman" - not "Bizarro VS. Superman" or even "Superman vs. Bizarro" - that to me suggests that it would be a stand-alone flick; and as it's being written by the writers of "Galaxy Quest", I suspect it would probably focus on the misguided heroics of some misshapen clone (of sorts) of Superman in Superman's convenient absence. That's just a guess, although it wouldn't be the first or even the second time WB's tried to get big-screen mileage out of a Superman-related character with Big Blue himself nowhere in sight (save for a dorm-room poster or a tattoo on someon'e's arm).

Superman Returns is a great Superman movie to me and many people. And it performed solidly when it first came out. It got mostly good reviews for a reason. People at large just wanted more action.

What killed the sequel was WB's indecision AND incompetence. The morons.

They are so clueless. Poor Superman.

So a Constantine sequel? Really? So was it more acclaimed and praised than SR was? Sigh
