The Dark Knight Rises WB: No discussions about Batman 3 with Nolan yet

Does anyone else think that Nolan is sitting on a beach in the Bahamas reading these posts and laughing his ass off at us?

Nope.

People who tend to be able to achieve don't bother with reading online posts at some forum.

Maybe he finds it entertaining.

hahaha.....I Doubt he'd not make a third. He just wants to relax and have a vacation. Let him be for now. He'll make a third, no doubt.

Nolan is going to get paid very handsomely to direct a third Batman movie-- so handsomely, he'd probably be pretty foolish not to come back. He put a billion dollars in Warner Bros. pockets, so to them he's worth every penny it would cost to keep him around.

I'm going to see Chris Nolan tomorrow night so hopefully he says something about his involvement in the next movie. But knowing Chris, he's going to say "Not even thinking about it at the moment" or "We'll see".

You too?

:ninja:

lol at all these people worried he won't come back, of course he fooking will!! these films are his babies, and if he completes his trilogy he will go down in cinematic history, no doubt. just give the guy a break, TDK is still in cinemas and is one of the greatest films ever made. i think all he wants to do at the moment is sit down relax and not think about "work" for a year or whatever. maybe next year he and Jonah will probly get together and start brainstorming about ideas for the third, who knows? just because he hasn't confirmed anything either way doesn't give excuse for people to be worrying and crying that he might not do a third.
relax people, enjoy BB and TDK, all our faith will be rewarded, you'll see, i'll show ya ;)

Its not a sure thing that he will make one. He wont bother to make it just for the sake of making it. And no, its not his "babies" or whatever. They are just movies. And if Nolan dont want to, I dont think the studios would want to try another director.

well if thats the case, and he isn't returning then i have to say the way TDK ended was stupid for a Batman film. the series can't end with Batman being thought of as a killer, it just wouldn't happen. there has to be some closure and TDK deffinatly didn't have closure IMO

I second that. Batman needs redemption.

For TDK as a middle Batman film in the saga, the ending was brilliant.

For the whole series, it isn't a good ending.

For the sake of the story and character arc, he needs to finish it. It's like stopping a story before the final act. It's wrong both in terms of the integrity of the creator and in terms of being humane to the viewers like us :csad:

That's what I thought after seeing the film - Batman's story isn't finished. Whether Chris feels he's up to the task to finish it himself, is up to him, of course. He certainly doesn't have to decide right away, although it'll only make us more desperate if he waits. :funny:

On a more random note, I'm thinking that the story of Batman's redemption could even involve killing the character, considering how far they're willing to go. Wouldn't surprise me, actually.

(And then I'd :waa: my eyes out.)

i would hate to see batman killed. but i mentioned in another thread that if it loosly followed the knightfall story it could be epic

Nah, they will kill Alfred...

Wow. This article spinned more than a drunken Spider-Man to get to say Nolan isn´t coming back. None of Eckhart´s statements necessarily indicated that.

This same kind of "yellow Journalism" is what lead to the Spainish-American war. :oldrazz:

Completely agreed. If Nolan doesn't come back and finish the story and character arc and he just leaves Batman hanging, then that just shows how much he really cares for the character. :o:csad:

LOL, yup.

I really don't think Nolan will do a 3rd. Maybe if Ledger was still alive, but i just have this feeling. I'm not sure what there is left in this trilogy. I loved tDK, but where can Batman go apart from the inevitable 'hated by cops and society and then redeems himself throught their eyes and becomes their 'guardian''. It's all so predictable.

Predictable? Maybe so, but also necessary.

Plus, don't forget that Nolan will probably add twists so that we actually won't know how we will get to a (predictable) plot point. Case in point? Dent's trasformation in TDK. We knew it was coming, but we didn't know how.

Everyone seems to forget that Nolan's next project is The Prisoner movie, so he'll be busy for now.

I see no reason to suspect that Nolan won't return. Speculation that he's tired of Batman or has lost his passion for the project is completely without base. He gave the same "Well, I don't know...I haven't thought about a sequel..." after Batman Begins. Even Gary Oldman said he does that.

I heard that may or may not happen, because the studio is interested in bringing it back as a TV show instead or something.

Nolan's Howard Hughes biopic never happened either because of Scorcese's Aviator.

Eh, you win some, you lose some. I don't suppose Nolan is complaining all that much right now...:word:
