Superman Returns We don't like how this movie is looking (merged)

Wait, you say you don't listen to critics, and they are always wrong and yet it is them saying DVC sucks and you are accepting it as gospel.

No, he is saying do not listen to critics PREDICTIONS, as they are often just not accurate, as is apparent by the critics words themselves when they predict a movie to be great and then watch it and say it was just bad.

I think it will be #1 or 2 in TOP5 the most successful movie blockbusters in box office

It SHOULD have been #1...it will be lucky to place #4 when you throw CARS in the mix. This should not be! A Superman movie should be able to make #1 with no problems.

Yeah we get a NEW trailer...I read the details on it. Sounds cool, I will be hyped up about it. BUT to be honest, it did not BLOW ME AWAY...it sounds cool. They whole eyeball scene sounds awesome...though I must admit after more reflection, the idea sounds kind of um...stupid. Seriously, do we need to see Supes get shot in the eye ultra slow mo zoomed so you see the shell hit the pupil only to get flattened??? What's next...let's see if Superman piss smashes a urinal...what about Superman sperm? Can we have a scene where it shoots through a wall all the way through a building or two on its way to Mars??? Some things you just don't need to see. A cooler scene would have been for Supes to survive a NUCLEAR explosion...now that would have shown off how freakin powerful he was...or to have a scene where he is exposed to one of the deadliest diseases in the world like Eubola or something, and it has no effect on him. That would be more powerful and less cheesy.

The only true competion I see,IMHO,is POTC DMC,it could go either way.The critics are saying DVc is a real stinker, and X-MEN 3?not sure about that one.

Interesting STM is regarded as the Gold Standard super-hero film. Singer is using STM as his springboard. In fact a common complaint is that Singer by re-creating the tone of STM is playing it too safe.
Seems like he just can't win.

It's a good thing Singer doesn't look at the internet. Some of you would of probably made him cry.

ya,its gonna be kick a**.I dont see what everyone is worried about, well not everyone.

You didn't say words about New Krypton, what is really good thing in SR.

And colours of suit looks enough good in movie (look at full trailer).

Also Routh is SUPERMAN!:supes:

Funny how the new Superman poster shows off his REDS to be really VIBRANT and BRIGHT...yet the actual movie trailer shows it to be a dark maroon/purple red. Funny they went with the BRIGHTER color reds for PROMOTIONAL material...I wonder why they didn't go with the darker color scheme? Must be because the mainstream folks prefer brighter colors...it is something they feel COMFORTABLE with and ACCEPT...which brings me back to the point I made about the color scheme. Heck, MOST of the Superman toys coming out now with the excepting for some of the SR action figures have him in a brighter color scheme...I think this borders on FALSE ADVERTISEMENT if you ask me.

And what about ROUTH'S muscles? Don't you think he should have been as dedicated as THOMAS JANE, CHRISTIAN BALE, or WESLEY SNIPES??? I DO...

Is the color of the suit still a big deal? To be honest, I never saw what was wrong with the suit in the movie in the first place.

Looks at MI3's numbers people... Thats what SR will do also.
This Summer will have only 3 major blockbusters, and those are Potc2, DVC. X3... Everything else will tank.
Mi3 & SR will both hit 140 - 170 tops in the usa.

The bad buzz around SR has not let down since the day Routh was cast... I cant see this having a good outlook...

The critics think this will flop or come in below average. Definitely fall way behind Pirates and Code. The trailers have been completely UNDERWHELMING., it was badly edited, and it really hurts when the X-3 and Pirates trailer looks more kick ass than the Superman Returns trailer. That is really sad, it should be the other way around. We all know how long it has taken to finally get a Superman movie to the big screen! Most of us know about all the horror stories and complications that have taken place before Singer pitched his idea and got on board. And well, whether you AGREE or not…the fact remains that there has been a heated buzz of NEGATIVITY circulating this movie even before the lackluster TRAILER came out. We had people dissatisfied with the casting of Routh. We had people that did not like the costume. We had people that hated the idea of Lois Lane being a single mom. And we have people that completely hate the idea of a KID being a plot point of this movie. BAD WORD OF MOUTH will seriously cripple this movie!!! It’s been a long road getting here. I honestly think the powers that be should have played things SAFE. The question to you is…if THEY would have played things safe, and incorporated any of these elements…do you think the movie would potentially GROSS MORE MONEY and receive less negative buzz, than with what we are hearing and seeing now???

The safe mutually satisfied route would have incorporated these elements:

Brighter costume/cape colors (ie. RED)
Bigger “S” emblem
No fancy and redundant “S” emblem on the belt and outfit (tiny s-shields all over the emblem and suit)
Placement of “S” emblem on the back of the cape.
NON CAMPY Lex Luthor – Yes the trailer showed him to be CAMPY
NO SINGLE MOM LOIS LANE, DON’T NEED A KID
Bigger Routh – Give the boy more muscles!!!
The introduction of a Super Villain even if it is Brainiac, as it should have been!

Any of these elements would have only HELPED the movie…NOT HURT IT. You can argue all you want about how FRESH and NEW you want things to be. But the mainstream audience wants something they are comfortable with…something they KNOW. Superman is one of the MOST RECOGNIZED characters/figures/symbols in the WORLD. Mainstream people know Superman wears a bright outfit, with his underwear on the outside. They know Lois Lane is NOT a single mom. Most of them know that Lex Luther is NOT the JOKER. That stuff is BACK STORY, they are familiar with that and comfortable with it and accept it. They want to see something else…like super villains in action, Superman engaged in an EPIC STRUGGLE…conflict etc….not whether or not Lois Lane qualifies for Section 8. lol They should have just played things SAFE…at least to this TINT POLE was established…and then switch things up and do whatever they want for the SEQUEL, because they would have already had an audience from their FIRST MEGA HIT…the MEGAT HIT that it should be!!!

That being said. I really like Brandon Routh, he looks like Superman to me. BUT, I think someone has done EVERYONE a great dis-service. Brandon Routh should bigger and MORE muscular. Yeah, he’s got a few muscles than you can see if you study a picture. I’m talking MUSCLES that you can see just by glancing at a picture from across the room. Anyone see Thomas Jane before he worked out for PUNISHER. The man seriously got RIPPED!!! He was INSANE!!! And it really helped the movie, it gave a lot of credibility to him being the PUNISHER. The same goes for Christian Bale. Wow this many was CRAZY…he dropped down to nearly nothing to make the MACHINIST and then worked out heavily for BATMAN BEGINS and became hard core, it was AWESOME!!! The same with Wesley Snipes…he has always been muscular, but the man really pumped some serious iron before doing BLADE. These are examples of DEDICATION…to try to give the audience the very best that you have to reinforce film character credibility. Yet we have ROUTH who looks as if he worked out maybe 10 times in one month. Seriously, they could have pushed him harder, gotten him to bulk himself up more, gotten himself ripped like THOMAS JANE did. They could have, and that is all that matters! LOST POTENTIAL…I’m afraid this whole movie is going to become LOST POTENTIAL.

This should have been a sure fire shoe in for a #1 Summer Box Office SMASH!!! Not something to fall behind Pirates, Cars, Davinci Code…at this point, I hope this movie does not FLOP….I hope it at least makes average money…just so the Superman name is not completely tarnished!

It is really sad when I have become more interested in Bryan Singer’s Superman Documentary DVD than I have the new movie!!!

What do you think? Play it safe…give the fans and the main stream audience what they are comfortable with. Or play outside the box and stir up some controversy (Single Mom Lois)…which do you think would have earned the BIGGER BUCKS…not which would have been better, but which would have earned the MOST MONEY!!! That is the question…

so you have seen the movie and didnt like it????

Or you know the fact that your writing is on a childs level and sometimes confusing so it´s not easy to understand what your post are supposed to be about.

And critics may or may not be wrong in their predections but the same applies to you.

Go away from this boards.

It cant be. SR have enough chances to get $300m.

And you should understand it.

Besides, I doubt DVC and X# will even make more than $250m.

That has alot to do with Mr. Cruise's strange behavior the past year or so.

God, what is wrong with you people.

are the critics the same ones that said King Kong would rule

take it like a grain of salt....half of them wouldnt know a good movie even if it slapped them in the face....

they only pick oscar movies that they were bribed to make win

1) A movie cant be considered a flop..Until it comes out
2) Since we havent seen the movie all our opinions are based on rumors on the internet
3) Every movie is a potential bomb. Look at the example of King Kong that was supposed to be the big movie and got knocked out by Narnia

Singer doesn't really know Superman, all he knows are the previous movies, he even said he watched the musical, what an idiot.

The suit, the actor, the story, the vague sequel, the trailers, all crap.

An epic, faithful to the comic book Superman movie is what should have been made. Singer is too small minded and very dull. He made the X-men movies into little dull films, that should've been big epics.

I still can't believe he did that to the X-men and now Superman.

I've been trying to be more positive about this but, I just can't, after seeing what's been done to a character who I've liked as long as I can remember I just can't be happy about it. I haven't seen it yet and maybe the movie will be okay but, I'm not getting my hopes up. It looks like a remake of Superman one, but with Lois having a kid.:down :down
