Except Da Vince Code sucks, apparently. :(

.

Hard to go off reviews for this one,All 3 reviews from the UK loved it but with the religous issues you can bet some reviews will not be reviewing it as a movie

Gross numbers for Finding Nemo:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0266543/business

Anything Pixar touches, turns to gold. Especially when for every kiddie you bring in, you have one or more adult ticket to sell as well.

It was lucky. There was no movie for kids, that is why it made so much.

And summer 2006 have 3 animation movies for kids.

I think it will be so:

1. Cars
2. Over the Hedge
3. Ant Balley

I agree.

That being said, my estimate for X3 was far too generous. Same with superman, 210 for X3, 200 for Superman.

Superman already has a strong fanbase with children so the same rules apply. But Superman has an advantage since Cars has to build a fanbase from scratch while Supes already has a huge one.

I love the way that whenever something gets good numbers, its lucky. You said the same about POTC in Misc Film. Only Superman can get good numbers without being lucky, right Cinemaman?

man what has happened to people? its a movie rather its superman, davinci code... all there saying is broaden your horizons and just watch it.... sorry to say this but those jesus freaks that are all pissed bout the da vinci code seriously need to chill out its called a MOVIE!!!!!

But there is also POTC2.

I see POTC2 making $100m opening weekend and being a bit disappointment for fans. So it will get less than 1st movie made.

SR will make good enough $85m opening weekend and $35m total, what is great for me.

Your number are too high, you should be realistic.

See dude. Only 3 movies have grossed over 100 million. It seems these days that everybody is predicting movies to open that big. POTC2 will not open that high. I just don't see it happening. I'd say 75-85 is a more realistic opening. Supes on the other hand. Well I'd have to say 100-120 is more realistic. And there's no sarcasm there people. I'm being totally honest. This is of course assuming that Supes will open in over 4000 theatres which I think it will.

Superman isn't a children's movie though. Singer didn't take a very family friendly approach it seems. In fact, Singer's movie will likely bore the children and teenage audience. And for the record, I am saying this with some authority, as I started the novel this morning...and...well...it isn't looking good...especially for those demographics.

Batman Begins made 205..........so you think Superman Returns will make less?

200 is a ballpark. Somewhere between 200 and 210 seems appropriate considering Singer's approach to it.

Guys is there any way we could change this thread to the Official Boxoffice Thread?

you obviously don't have a kid...

...kids don't care if it's gonna have serious undertones and drama in the movie. they just want to see their favorite superhero on screen. kids will just tune themselves out of the boring parts and then watch the parts where Superman is in action. anyway...if a child wants to watch Superman bad enough then they'll convince their parents to take them. your argument about the movie boring children is moot considering children don't know it might be boring BEFORE they watch the movie.

and as far as you having authority from reading a novel...

1) you're reading a novel. it's much different than watching a movie...
2) i haven't seen you post ANYTHING positive about this film, so i'm less likely to take your word for it...

No. POTC was lucky, because it was only one adventure movie in summer 2003.

And ROTS made huge BO, because there were fans. The same is going to be with SR.

But you will say that I'm wrong, because you dont want believe my words. Anyway, it is your point of view.

 this is why I don't want to post anything about the book, because the second I do, I'm just a hater so I can't be right.

I practically raised my nephews, so don't tell me about kids...and the fact is, Superman isn't as popular with kids as he was 20 or even 10 years ago. Nowadays they want Japanese, anime crap.

People have big interest about it, that is why they and fans will go to see it. It will be next HP-4 without long legs.

But after 2nd week, POTC2 will loose legs and SR will continue its box office.

If only SR has good WOM, what is most likely.

SR will get fans and teenagers, what is enough.

Perhaps if they made Superman's shield flash with seizure inducing lights?

He is crazy as I think. And he is big HATER.

Superman is big name and American icon. It will get more than $300m.

I am sure.

From what I'm reading, this film will not attract teenagers in the least. It is very slow building and thus far has nothing even close to a pay off.

Sadly, kids these days would likely flock to see that.
